  1. I for one love seeing the fire lit under Gaber and Kleven’s ass last night. Tells me the guys aren’t going quietly. Maybe that’s what it will take to get the rest of this team going. Now we can’t have any extra curricular tonight that would have us lose guys going into Denver. Getting home ice has to be the goal right now. After that, let the chips fall where they may.

I dont think UND measures themselves in conference titles with hockey.

But that's fair. Good teams lose in a elimination fans all the time.

I just thought it was funny you said "how down UND has been".  Sure, we've had some disappointing exits being eliminated by UMD in a 5th OT, losing to Notre Dame, and getting outplayed by a pandemic but I'd say they are anything but down years.  A down year was 2018-19, this year is looking like it'll be one(TBD) but not the last 3.

I'll trot this stat out again, average years between titles: DU 7.9, Michigan 8.2, UND 9.2, Wisco 9.5, Gophers 14.8, BC 14.8, UMD 19.3

For people expecting us to win it all every 4-5 years you're going to be disappointed more often than not. Our last title was 2016, so we'd have to get through the 2027 Frozen Four without winning a title to be "below average"(I'm not counting 2020 as an opportunity for obvious reasons).

Curious how you folks are handling this year.  Pretty strange to see how down things have been the last few years up North

When you say the last few years are you referring to the conference championship in 2020, 2021 or 2022?

But yes, this year has been rough.  In my own case, I just put in in perspective that 1) it's a game and 2)I have no control over how good the team is.

Many on here were talking about how our program was unraveling after 2018-19 as well, then we fielded a juggernaut the next season.

I'm interested in your take on this question. Not calling out any player by name, but do you think there is anyone who is currently considered a lock to be in the lineup that you question why they are? To me, there are a handful of "locks" that I don't necessarily see the difference between them are others that are in / out of the lineup.

Speculating here, but I'm guessing while you are not seeing a difference in practice there may be a difference in the weight room, in practice, etc.

Wish the poll had a third option...should but probably won't.

Unpopular take, but (1) only two teams end the year happy; (2) why not get the extra practices and games; (3) if it's a money maker, then the revenue can only help the program and department.  Let the pro-bound bail, but clear the benches and get some ice time for those guys further down the trough.

Also, even if you end up on the road, a chance for UND fans (and prospects) in unusual parts of the country a chance to see the team and its legendary traveling fan base.

Win the darn thing, and feel good about the next season.  Banners optional.

Not sure you'll see many fans traveling for this after a season long of travel, but maybe I'm too pessimistic about the whole idea

Remember though, they moved up because of what they didn’t do, no because of what they did…

The Pairwise formula is based on an accumulation of games and how those comparisons play themselves out across the country so that's not an accurate statement.  They are where they are because of the games they've won, lost and tied.  There's no handouts being given.

  7. UND within shouting distance of the national tournament at #17 in the Pairwise, must have got some help over the break because after WMU they were #22.

This is probably the most important weekend of the 2nd half with Lindenwood 55th in PWR(Miami a close 2nd at 43rd).

    Sweep or bust

If we can get out of January with fewer than 10 regulation losses we have a chance at an at large bid. No easy feat, especially with Western wanting revenge and Duluth needing to salvage their season as well. Luckily the only road series is Miami.

Even if we were firing on all cylinders that would be a tall task to only lose 1 of 8. Don’t forget Miami just beat SCSU 5-0, none of those nchc games are easy this year
