    Cole Smith has become my favorite player. Last night I observed him basically run into an opponent, normally would have just been 2 players skating away from an incidental contact (puck was near, but neither seemed to be checking the other). But Cole just extended his arms and put the other guy on his butt. He is just that strong. Unfortunately he will likely be in the same boat as Joe Finley. Joe got a lot of elbowing penalties because anyone that bent a knee had their head at his elbow level. Cole will likely draw a few penalties for being a brick sheethouse that pushes back.

    Is there any sort of formal review of on ice officials? .. cause it seems like a good ol' boys club to me. I assume the officials are paid, is it a lucrative job, is there a shortage of officials. How can the league up their game? Who puts heat on the head of officials? or does the league love all the controversy, referring to old adage that their is no such thing as bad publicity?

    I did not realize you can change your entry, is it just allowed when there is a line up change or are tea leaves acceptable?

    I think they need to look further away for the OL, not that ND boys couldn't do it, but the biggest best ND beef will be at Moo U, if Moo U don't want them, then we probably don't want them... of course exceptions happen...

    I agree, especially when I hear "we will be on top as the pendulum swings back".... that is a giant load of bunk, we may never get the success level of NDSU (5 titles in a row is a BIG mountain).... but we may become competitive. I think Bubba has an uphill battle. Does anyone think there is a football player with 500 miles that would chose UND over NDSU. Is perhaps the FCS talent pool not deep enough to give us the players to be competitive? if you were a prospect where would you hope to play of the 4 Dakota programs?

    It looked to me as if Smith stood upright just before contact. If he would have dashed left or right he may have left a knee out there and get a penalty anyway. Did the DU player return? fair trade?
