You could tell the Gophs were used to the big rink, especially on the PK. They were not pressuring with the same energy that UMD was. Almost like they thought the players were still 20 feet farther away in all directions. Still it was not UM's fault, no question UMD has the best PP in the league right now.

I don't think those two situations are at all related. UND fans are not chanting "Death to all who cheer for the Gophers", or chanting the name of someone who just murdered 3,000 Gophers students. Yes, they were probably drunk (what else do they do in MX), but that doesn't excuse their classless behavior.

The Dogz have Taras Lendzyk, and he has really improved the goaltending situation, although UMD has always had strong goaltending it seems.

Diggler is right ( ), there is no reason for the Sioux to panic. Their sched is easy, to say the least, and the talent is all still there (no injuries). A sweep of MSU-M will have the confidence restored and the Sioux playing back at full potential for the series at the DECC. Looking forward to that one!!!!

I guess Blais is right, seeing as how if the Sioux win the rest of their remaining games (including the 2 at the DECC), they will win the McNaughton. BUT, you didn't hear the Dogs, when they were 1-2 points back of the Sioux, shooting their mouths off anbout how they felt they were in the drivers seat. I understand that Blais has to keep a positive attitude about his teams chances (which are still VERY good), but he also must give respect where respect is due. Teams that don't, get BURNED at the DECC (were you watching this weekend?). Both the Dogs and Sioux "control their own destiny", to use a cliche.

I though it was very fitting, with the way some Gophs fans were downplaying the earlier sweep (it was a different Gophs team...etc.), that the series was not even close this time!! 4-3 (ot), 4-2 at Mariucci, 6-1, 4-1 at DECC. I guess it IS a different Gophs team (last time they had some offense) . All fun aside, the Gophers looked dangerous at times, but never seemed to get in rythm with their offensive attack. Outstanding PK and defense by the Dogs this season.

You hit the nail on the head there. They were always trying to spring Vanek out of the zone, to the point where he was leaving as soon as the Gophs even got a sniff of the puck.

If it ended now, neither UMN or UMD would be a #1. Michigan climbed over both with their win vs. Miami-OH.

I am sure the Gophs will answer the bell tonight and come out with some pride and hunger. Pretty sure Johnson will start in goal after last nights debacle.

I am expecting a much cloer game tomorrow night, as the Gophs will surely tighten up defensively. The Dogs played well on D all but the lsat half of the 1st.

IF they win their first round series, even. They would most likely play a hungry team like AA, CC or DU. Not a guaranteed win the way the Gophs are playing lately.
