BOOO!! Passed by Wisco. Well, only for a week. We're invading the Kohl Center next weekend, and we're OUT FOR BLOOD!!!!!!!!

Don't get me wrong...I am very happy with second place,and I still think the Dogs are legitimate NC contenders. We were in the drivers seat for the McNaughton, needing only a split against the Sioux to position ourselves to win for the first time in eleven years, and we just could not get it done AT HOME. The Sioux established dominance in the first period of game one, and then clung to debris long enough to survive with a sweep (14-2 SOG in 3rd period Saturday). This weekend,we had a legitimate chance to be MORE than 2nd fiddle to the Sioux, and we blew it. That's what the sigh is for. Now I have to endure all the 5-0 jabs...at least until we meet in the Final Five Championship Game (God willing)!!!

So we're back to where we started... I guess now...with the PWR, there is almost no possible way you could win a league title, and not be in the Top 10 in the PWR (at least for the Power Conferences such as CCHA, HE and WCHA). So if Holy Cross is ousted by Quinnipiac in the AH tourney, which would they choose?? The tourney champ? That would make the regular season championship in smaller conferences basically meaningless.

Doesn't the McNaughton winner also receive an auto-bid?? I seem to remember this rule being enacted after CC won the league and did not get into the NCAA's. If this is true...do other conferences have this rule as well? That would mean as many as 12 auto-bids, assuming all leagues have the same rule, and all have different regular season and tournament champions. Clarification??

Sigh...and last weekends result means one more year of waiting. All UND needs is 2 pts. Against Tech, I'd say that is a done deal.

You mean there are people who only go to the night games?? I thought everyone just took that entire weekend off like I do...

WDIO only does the Saturday games. It was the same way all year. It's just they way they do things up there...

Heh heh...yes. I meant FRIDAY. I WISH they always played Thursday night...

Times are TBD because the Goofs always play the night game on Thursday. Cheap!! If the Goofs win Thursday, they should have to come back Friday afternoon, like UMD had to. If UMD had been given the same luxury, perhaps their 3-2 3rd period lead over CC last year would have held up.

While I agree that the large roar after the Sioux scored in the first minute was a bit disheartening, the Dogs fans stayed in the game until the fourth goal. At least that's the way it sounded on the radio..

I agree that you got excellent play from your fourth line. Sandy got a UMD#1 v. UND #4 matchup several times, and your fourth line was outplaying our first at times. What else could we ask for...a fifth line??

"Maroon Loon" is his name, and don't make fun. I happen to know him and he's a really nice guy (read: got me in for free to several games).

Tech will not be getting more than 2 points this weekend. The best UMD can do is tie...and that is with a road sweep of Wisco. I just hope the Dogs can get ONE point, and assure themselves a #2 spot, and a first round series against MSU-M.

From what I've seen, even when they make penalty calls, they get them wrong. They need to be told only to call a penalty if it's blatant, and to shut up and concentrate on offsides and icing. At least MI and ME also lost, so UMD is still in line for a #1 seed.

The call was blown ...but the goaltender need to make the save. It's too easy to blame the linesman. Dogs had their chances to win the game and were unable to execute. Shrug...makes this weekend series with Wisco a must win. Dogs need to at LEAsT hold on to second place.
