  1. The Detroit News also had the wrong school being added to the HL. In fact, they didn't even mention IUPUI until it was a foregone conclusion that the Jags were the team.
  2. I realize Douple is hated by UND fans but really? His last add before UND was DU. Pretty crappy choice there. I also always think that those who don't understand should be educated. No schools will be sought after or added by Douple. His job is to provide recommendations to the member schools who make the decisions. SDSU and NDSU, the league powers will never add CSU and the last time UMKC talked about getting back in, they were told no. SS fans need to stop panicking. I get that SiouxVolley gets all of you riled but 99% of the time his comments are way off the mark. He is slowly becoming LakesBison. Just head over to egriz and see the mess he created over there. The HL has spoken and they have said the same thing as the MVC. Both leagues are playing small ball, especially the HL. LeCrone can say what he wants. There is no member school in the HL who are interested in growing out side their footprint or growing to 14 or 16 teams. Would they consider 12? Some will some will not. If they do go to 12 it will be IPFW and RMU. Relax.
  3. The Horizon took NKU, a D2 startup. They will have no problem accepting Southern Indiana.
  4. No, the article stated that maybe the MVFC was possible because YSU were close. It was the writer's opinion. RMU have ZERO chance of getting into the MVFC.
  5. You do know that in mid-major leagues, once conference play starts most schools RPI begins falling? You strengthen your SOS by scheduling quality out of conference opponents. Twenty game schedules only work for leagues with high RPI numbers top to bottom. The MVC and HL are not those leagues. The HL will add one. They may add 2 next year but only if they raid the OVC for one, and get the second as a D2 move up (Southern Indiana). The MVC will likely not add 2 next year, the will among the majority of the schools is to stay at 10 unless a big name (SLU, Belmont) decides to join. Neither the MVC or HL can find schools to strengthen their leagues right now. Both are ham strung by geography and a lack of funds. The HL will look east and south and may take a look at a Purdue school. The MVC hope, HOPE they can get someone like SLU or Belmont to bite. They won't. The MVC still has not figured out they just aren't the draw they once were. Adding lower level schools for the sake of adding is a mistake which will doom your league to also ran status for decades.
  6. Won't happen. Neither RMU or Murray State will ever be in the MVFC. The league is not a home for wayward schools, unless a school gets invited to the Summit or MVC they will not have a shot at getting in. And no, Murray is not going to get an MVC invite. Academics alone will keep them out. Since everyone likes "reading between the lines", check out Elgin's latest interview on CBS.
  7. The Summit would be granted time to bring on baseball schools. I believe it is 2 years with likely additional time granted if progress is being shown. The NCAA will not be pulling the auto bid. I wouldn't worry too much about it.. Don't get sucked into the fear and hype thrown around by SiouxVolley. No, UND will not get an auto bid to the NCAA tournament. Not even close. Even on the Women's side. SDSU had a low 30s RPI on the Women's side this year, defeated multiple NCAA tourney qualifiers and were one of the first four out. UND, playing BSC schools will never be able to get an RPI that low, in Men's or Women's BB.
  8. My guess is I'm older then you. Definitely more mature. The Summit doesn't reference that it is poor in play or facilities, because it isn't . IPFW does not have an impressive facility but they do have options. We don't play in HS gyms like they do in the Big Sky. Play? Even in a down year with SDSU struggling early the Summit was ahead of the Horizon and a top 15 league. Next season we will be back around 12. Where is the Big Sky? Around 25/26? Yes we are a one bid league, but we are a lot closer to being a two bid then the BSC will ever be. Tournament. Yes, SF is not Las Vegas. Of course the SLT gets over 9,000 per session while the BSC in Reno see less then a 1,000 actual butts in the seat and the WAC gets just over 1,000 in Las Vegas. The MVC in St. Louis, minus WSU will draw less then the SLT next season. Dregs of D1? Look around you. The reason the Montana schools are not happy is they are stuck in a conference with a group of community colleges. I do know my history, its why I, like so many laughed at the WAC FBS myth you ran with for years. Talk about embarrassing. I stick by it. You really do need to get a grip. The sky is not falling and you may not like it, but the Summit is stronger in athletics, facilities, and academics then the Big Sky. Much, much stronger.
  9. Do you really sit at home and dream up your black helicopter scenarios on your own? Relax. I have no idea how you get through most days without having a heart attack. And drop the Slummit moniker. It makes you sound like a petulant child.
  10. Wright State are not dropping athletics. Just because a fan boy states it online doesn't mean it is true. And I know what "quarters" you are talking about. The same person posted the rumor three years ago. There is an agenda there, who knows what it is but their is an agenda. Wright State are actually strengthening their athletic department and increasing spending. A school looking to drop athletics doesn't do that. And it is likely neither IUPUI or IPFW ever goes to the Horizon. They have been passed over so many times they don't even try any more. I would say it is more likely for UWM and Green Bay to end up in the Summit then both Indiana schools are in the Horizon. You and SV really have to stop.
  11. This is where you get yourself in trouble. You can't really believe your WAC fantasy is the same as a conference with the four Dakota, two Montana, Idaho as anchors is the same as us moving to the WAC and having to accept the dregs in that conference for all our Olympic Sports? As for the XDSU's being MVC material. You do see who they are going after? The MVC are going for mediocrity and schools that do not threaten the status quo. Several writers, Bradley's especially has been adamant about not adding the XDSU's out of the fear that the conference would become FB centric. The privates hate FB with a passion. If they had their choice the public schools would drop the sport or leave the league. In addition, at least in the case of SDSU I'm pretty sure our AD has some good insight into the MVC today v the past. Sell came from UNI, had a chance to go back to UNI and apply for their open AD job when Troy Dannen left. He chose to stay at SDSU. If the Valley our king, why do you think that is? Of the schools being mentioned Valpo is the only school which still has a good BB program, though minus a Drew at the helm we will see how long they stay successful. All four schools, including Valpo have major issues whether it be facilities (Valpo/Murray), a screwed up athletic department (UWM) or major financial issues with no track record of success (Omaha). Do you wonder why they are only looking at those schools? The list gets approved by the school President's and each school needs 7 votes of the 9. WSU left the Valley because the conference schools had accepted, and even promoted mediocrity. CU had been looking to bolt long before the Big East came calling. What is left in the MVC, outside of maybe UNI and ISUr is not great. And those two schools have financial pressures even UND do not have. UND will not go FBS before either XDSU. Neither XDSU will go FBS before UND. If FBS ever occurs it will be a very different FBS then you see today. The ESPN mess is going to push the P5 to act soon to consolidate revenues meaning the G5, other then maybe the AAC and MWC (who the P5 need) are in serious trouble. Relax, the Summit is not dying. The MVFC is fine as is the BSC, for now. UND are no where close to having the facilities to move up. Neither is USD. Both have time to get ready. Things will change eventually, the XDSU's are ready, UND and USD will be ready by the time they need to be. Be patient.
  12. Omaha gets their students from Nebraska, mostly Omaha. They are a commuter school which is state run and just in the past decade started putting in dorms. More like Idaho State then Idaho. Omaha gets the MVC no market. Omaha is a CU and UNL market. No one cares about UNO outside of hockey and maybe, like this season when they are winning. That has happened once since moving up. Next season they will take a huge step back after losing their 3 best players including one, from Omaha (their best player) who is transferring out because he sees what is coming. Omaha's budget woes makes UND dealt with woes look like pocket change. Omaha is not going anywhere and to be honest, I doubt they are getting a visit. The media have been wrong so many times in this process it is getting embarrassing.
  13. Have you looked into when the Summit play their games? Just saying that you might want to view a schedule. Just a hint, think MVC like not NCC like. It seems that since WAC FB fell apart, NDSU to the MVC is your new mission. Just so you are aware. SDSU, USD, UND nor NDSU are going to the MVC. Not one of us will get an invite not one of us will get a look. NDSU does not travel for BB and they can't even beat SDSU in attendance when they have 250,000 in the Fargo area to draw from. NDSU travels for FB and only FB. The day, if it occurs that SDSU or USD get an invite to another conference do you honestly think the schools will insist that the conference tourney be played in SF? Have you been drinking? Do you honestly think that any of the four schools, including SDSU and USD can't do as they please? SDSU did go D1 minus USD and USD did have approval to move to the BSC before SDSU stepped in and helped them out in an attempt to stabilize the Summit, with a good school. We also did that for UND with the MVFC for the same reason. And we were joined by NDSU to the consternation of BV and Lakes. Talk of NDSU to the MVC has mostly come from one source, well two. BV fan boys and Lakes. How much pull do you think that crew have with the MVC? I would hope your answer is none. I'm beginning to think your afraid of being in a conference with NDSU. Why I don't really know but you went from thinking they were the dregs of society to suddenly they would be the most amazing get for the MVC. What gives? UND can compete with NDSU, just like SDSU compete with NDSU and USD are beginning to compete with NDSU. They really aren't that scary in FB and they are not scary at all in basketball. I would venture to guess I would get agreement from 99.9% of the UND fans on this site that NDSU are not anything to be frightened by. You? I'm not so sure.
  14. We agree on something. Cool. The talk of GCU is scary. They are a for profit school who have already settled one, very large lawsuit accusing them of being a diploma mill, admitting and graduating people academically unqualified to make more money. They are the University of Phoenix with an athletic department and a single campus. No thank you. I see people make fun of IUPUI and now they want GCU? IUPUI is a large university with a $600 million endowment. They are considered to be a very solid academic institution and are home of the IU medical school and law school. University's should still be about education first, athletics second. Grand Canyon? Gross... understatement of the year.
  15. No it isn't true. Even the KC newspaper, in their recent story about UMKC prostituting themselves to the MVC stated the move was a "competitive" move. UMKC left because they couldn't compete. They felt that the new WAC, basically the Great West with NMSU would provide them an opportunity to get to the NCAA tournament. They were also promised that the WAC would look at moving their post season tournament to the KC area. Neither happened and now they are whining because they are paying a fortune in travel costs.
  16. Omaha can't afford to fund their sports at a level the MVC or Horizon would require. Shattel is just taking internet talk and passing it off as a column. Omaha are not going anywhere. DU? They don't have the sports the Horizon need (baseball) and are way too far out of the footprint. NMSU flirted with the Horizon idea a year ago and now they seem more then happy to stay in a stronger WAC, play independent FB and hope for a shake up that gets them back into the SBC or a chance at the MWC. I think that the MVC invite one school, UIC or Valpo and call it a day. The private schools won't want to split what is left of the Wichita money before it dries up by adding an additional 2 mouths to feed. Especially when those two additional schools would not get them an at-large NCAA invite. The MVC is dying a slow death. The public schools aren't happy, the private schools don't want to do anything to improve the conference, the conference is broken.
  17. Attendance doesn't mean squat except higher attendance means you can bid more. Both SDSU and USD will be in the WNIT. Both will likely host meaning, since the WNIT is also regional UND, will likely be in Vermilion or Brookings for a game. Unless your AD wants to throw big money to host (not likely).
  18. Didn't see anything on here, if I missed it sorry. Brian Jones, along with Craig Smith from USD and Darian DeVries from Creighton have been linked to the Drake job. HiresAndFires‏ @D1HiresAndFires Follow More Drake opening with have heavy involvement from Craig smith, Brian Jones, and Darian Devries. All 3 names will have a legit shot. #NcaaRumors
  19. Neither school are from Sioux Falls. SDSU and of late USD fans buy tickets. For SDSU fans this is a big weekend, even if SDSU are not playing well or in the game they show up. Basketball is huge in Sioux Falls and is huge among SDSU fans. SDSU and USD were the top teams in the old NCC and along with NDSU are becoming the dominant teams in the Summit. I expect UND to be in the top half from day one. Jones may need to go for you to compete for a title. It will happen. SDSU have been in the SL tournament since the 2008-2009 season. We have won the tourney 4 times. Three as the #1 or #2 seed, one (this year) as the #4. NDSU, who I don't think has "essentially a home court" have gone 3 times including an upset of the "home" team, #1 seed SDSU in the finals in 2015. SDSU did not win this year due to "home court". We won because we have the best player in the Summit and his supporting cast finally meshed into a team. We've won 9 of the last 12. They turned it around. Daum had four NBA scouts sitting court side last night. San Antonio scouts have shown up at multiple games this season. Daum will likely play next season and leave for the NBA as a first round pick. He is that good. As for SV's attendance statement. First round WOMEN's games this year, with not one South Dakota team playing brought in 3,500. First round night games, with only one South Dakota school (USD) playing brought in 9,500. A few years back, when Oakland and ORU played in the championship game 7,000 attended. NDSU's championship games not against SDSU have brought in 7,000. Yes, having a South Dakota school (especially SDSU) playing is going to help attendance but even minus SDSU or USD in the title game the Summit brings in more butts than the Big Sky. A great comment I heard this week. Last year the BSC tournament, all sessions had 11,500 attend. The USD v SDSU semi had 11,300 by itself. As for it being akin to UND and The Ralph? The Ralph is UND home ice. The Denny is not SDSU, or USD's home court. We play there one weekend a year, in the Summit tournament. A better comparison to Sioux hockey? UND playing a regional in Minneapolis or Fargo. And to the ESPN comment about the Summit and UND. It is true. UND does improve the Summit. No question.
  20. Yes. The only real option for SDSU would be the MVC and a non-Wichita MVC is not really a step up. WSU leaves and expect UNI and Illinois State, and possibly Indiana State to begin searching for a new league. Amazing as it sounds, with the addition of UND the Summit is more stable right now than the MVC.
  21. I'll answer from an outside perspective. Even if they had the money NDSU has no place to go. They will not join as an Independent. The Sun Belt is now a regional conference who like their current footprint. Much like Idaho, NDSU is way outside of that footprint. The MWC wants nothing to do with FCS move ups. They want UTEP, Rice or UT San Antonio. Even NMSU have a better shot at the MWC than does NDSU. They would be 5th in line for the MAC. James Madison, Youngstown, UNI, Illinois State would be the top 4 FCS schools the MAC would show interest in. JMU and YSU have both discussed FBS in the past. UNI has ties to the MAC, plus the MAC is still a BB conference first and UNI is a BB school. Illinois State have mentioned FBS before though budget issues in Illinois will hold them back. No matter what you read on BV, NDSU has no conference to move to. End of story. Your rival to the south is not going anywhere anytime soon.
  22. If they base it on rivalry games UND will be hosting NDSU in 2020. Example, SDSU gets USD and NDSU at home in off years (NDSU at home in '17, USD in Vermillion). In 2020 NDSU will be hosting SDSU which would lead me to believe NDSU will be traveling to Grand Forks for your first year in the league.
  23. IUPUI is even ranked higher academically. That said, welcome Sioux fans; to both leagues. Oh, and don't count out UNC moving over with you; eventually. Rumor has it they aren't thrilled with the BSC right now.
  24. And yet SDSU attendance has averaged almost double UND in 2016. And that's minus our two biggest conference draws, NDSU and UNI. FYI, we had almost 17,000 for USD. Nope, not a sell out but hey, the rivalry isn't what it used to be. The years off and the fact USD haven't beaten us in years has tempered the excitement. If/when USD become relevant again the crowds will return. They already have in basketball. Where else can you find a crowd of over 9,000 for a Women's basketball game but in South Dakota when SDSU and USD play.
  25. That 5 loss MVFC team looked a lot better than either Big Sky team. BSC should have only gotten 2 in this year. Weber is atrocious and Cal Poly has looked terrible since they beat SDSU. Typical Poly, no depth and as the year goes On they struggle
