  1. Here is a pic(from Facebook) from Bob 95.1 a country station here in Fargo.

I think this station should be boycotted and they should have to apoligize. There would be major issues if KFGO was still doing Sioux sports since they are owned by the same company.

Country music is reason enough for me to boycott them.

Apparently, they never considered that the word "Suck" would be upside down to anyone at the game.

  2. I have never in my lifetime heard a media report, nor bison fan analysis, which said und had a better recruiting class than ndsu.

So if they always out-recruit UND, that means they were out-coached in 10 of the last 13 meetings?

  3. Defense attorney Joe Amendola, 63, representing Sandusky in the sexual molestation case roiling Penn State and Joe Paterno’s legendary football program, impregnated a teenager and later married her, The Daily has learned.

That implies consent. That's a step up.

  4. UND is a hockey school period. The other sports are looked on as only ancillary to hockey. If they win fine if not - Hey we have hockey!

Yes, UND is a hockey school. But if it was a hockey school "period" you probably wouldn't be here.

I have no idea how old you are. I'm old enough to remember several swings back and forth between UND and NDSU for football superiority. Granted, NDSU has clearly accomplished more in football (National Championships). We've got no answer for those 10-12 years that you had most of your success. Even then UND still leads the series and trails in conference titles by 2-3.

It would take more for the pitchforks to come out at Memorial Stadium than it would in Fargo (or at the Ralph). But if you think Mr. Faison and/or the football alumni are willing to settle for mediocrity or being Fargo's biatch, you haven't been paying attention to history.

I give NDSU a lot of credit for what they've done the past 6-8 years. I wish UND's transition had gone as well. And if you would like to think UND will never catch up, that's fine with me.

As I recall, you guys were feeling pretty good about yourself in 1992 also. How'd that work out for you?

  5. What is the problem if they show her? In my opinion very little. What is the problem if they don't show her (for whatever reason)? Imho, again very little. It's really not that big of deal.

I think her holding a beer is the only problem. Give her a glass of milk and call her the "Healthy Grandma". Bet her and the students would have fun with it.

  6. As sad as it is to say, UND fans should really cheer for him to underachieve the rest of the season, for all you guys know Iowa is not offering anyway but if they are looking, and see stat lines of 10/13 250 yards 4 TD's, they might come knocking and asking if he'd like to be a hawkeye.

Thanks, Johnboy. I was wondering what your opinion of this would be.

If he was Iowa's 1st choice, there would already be an offer. Either way, I'm sure you join me in wishing him nothing but the best.

  7. I just reread all of those comments - very interesting! I know Ira has been following this kid closely for the last 2-3 years. Ira doesn't "blow smoke" like many of those who post. I certainly hope what he has heard and his reasoning pans out in a decision to attend UND. It sounds like we will know fairly soon.

Ira - would the girlfriend's father you're talking about be Paul M.?

  8. It is annoying UND cant find green helmets that match the green jerseys. Also, it seemed to me there are different colors green helmets depending on manufacturer.

I like the uniforms in general. Wish the colors matched better also.

I suggest putting name on the back of the uniforms. Players would love it, recruits would love it, tv viewers would love it.

  9. Why can't they, that is a very good question no one would even have to travel and there wouldn't be an unnecessary expense of 6,000.00 on the state tab.

I would imagine now there will be some fees to change the tickets also.

Wouldn't it be subject to North Dakota Open Meeting Laws, then? That is something NCAA doesn't want, but it might not matter at this point, if all they are going to say is "Thanks, but, no thanks. Deal stands!"

I still don't quite understand the Open Meeting part. These are a collection of state officials that do not constitute any legal body. Why would open meeting laws apply?

  10. Sioux pride, and what it stands for, is definitely absent in the Student Senate and President's Office.

The Sioux pride I know is also about honoring bravery and integrity.

Everything since November has been about how to circumvent an agreement North Dakota voluntarily made that didn

  11. Any actions taken by the state board of higher education and the university of North Dakota before the effective date of this Act to discontinue the use of the fighting Sioux nickname and logo are preempted by this Act.

Someone at the UND law school has to be looking at loopholes in this bill. IMO the wording is law. So if its just UND retiring the name....get Kelley on the phone and retire it now, come up with a new name later.

The effective date of the NCAA agreement is August 15th. Isn't the ND bill effective August 1st?

If so, discontinuing the name between August 1st and the 15th would not be prohibited. :D

  12. On second that maybe Carlson needs to hear from the NCAA how stupid this sounds at this point before they show him the door.

Everyone seems to think that Carlson did this to further his political career. If I was in charge of the ND Dem party, I'd be on the phone today getting Mac Schneider to run against him for the U.S. House.

  13. I truly think it is the name issue. Naive? Maybe. I also believe that it doesn't matter if miraculously a deal is worked out with the NCAA, the Big Sky could still say "no, you have too much baggage with that".

I don't want to have to wait for a special session to repeal it. The legislature power grabbed on this issue and made a decision that wasn't theirs to make. This law needs to deemed unconstitutional and go away. Give the power back to the SBoHE and UND. Change the name and move on.

    Dear Mr. Shaft,

Please ask the SBoHE to direct UND to resume the retirement of the Fighting Sioux nickname tomorrow. The lawyers can figure out the rest later. Anything else screws up the Big Sky and/or a year of recruiting.

    Sincerely,

    Common Sense

  14. What about Nielson at Minnesota Duluth?

This may be a long shot but what about Roger Thomas??

I know it's just guys talking on the internet, but could we give Muss a chance before we start throwing out names?

I haven't been thrilled with everything he's said or done, but he's been in a tough spot. Plus, until the Big Sky invite, there would have been absolutely no other quality coaches that would have been interested.

Now he's got a great conference to sell and playoff eligibility coming up. As long as there are no major debacles and steady progress from this point on, I don't think Faison would even think about a change. By the middle of the 2012 season, I think his future will be pretty evident, one way or the other.
