  1. I am hopeful that USD also joins the Big Sky, but I'm glad that neither UND nor the Big Sky made that a contingency for UND joining. I think they will ultimately join.

I hope USD is on board, but it's not as important as a week ago. The nightmare scenario would have been if they got an MVFC invite without us, and Big Sky said both schools or nothing. We would have been screwed.

  2. 1. I'm a Bison fan

    2. I come here respectfully

Congrats on your admission to the Big Sky! To find a home for all sports has got to be a fantastic feeling. I did want to bring up one point for discussion. It's only a matter of time before NDSU and UND are playing again in all sports. That is very exciting because now when we start playing again the games will obviously be non-conference. Think of this...a non-conference game that will carry a great deal of energy, importance and the revenue will be fantastic. A non-conference game that is a sellout!

Feel free to disagree with me but I see UND and NDSU being in different conferences as a benefit for both. We will be representing the entire state in the western part of the country (Big Sky) and the central part of the country (Summit / MVFC).

Look forward to seeing both UND and NDSU represent! Let's have some fun!

That first part is a bit confusing! We'll give you the benefit of the doubt (for now) ;)

Like I mentioned a few days ago, one OOC per year

Year 1 - UND vs. SDSU, USD vs. NDSU

Year 2 - UND vs NDSU, USD vs SDSU

I think most people opposed to that do so out of hate and not common sense.

  3. Its been interesting watching this scenario unfold.

I would have loved to see the rivalry renewed so I wish the Sioux well in their new conference. Good Luck!!!!

The UxD's and the xDSU's should get together and schedule one OOC game each year. Play NDSU one year and SDSU the next. Better than bringing in Morgan, Lamar, etc.

  4. Wrongs of the past are no excuse to commit wrongs in the future.

No lacrosse at UND or NDSU until it's a ND high school sport. That's my $0.02.

First recorded high school football game in North Dakota - 1906.

First recorded Bison football game - 1894.

    Shut it down?

  5. I have said it before, and I'll say it again: Mussman deserves another year, and I believe he will get that. However, some things absolutely need to change in order for him to have a long career as a head coach at UND:

Not saying there might not be some changes that need making, but Muss will be here for the next few years unless he loses control of the team.

We need to get (1) an autobid conference and (2) the practice facility announced before Christmas. I bet we have no clue how much that would help recruiting.

Until we have those things, Muss hasn't really had a fair chance, and it would limit who would be interested in the job.

  6. Gotta say, Coach Horton and Maturi are handling themselves with as much good leadership as possible right now.

Horton was in town at least twice for Bollinger's qb camp. Really nice guy. Doubt he'd get the permanent job, but I hope the new guy at least considers keeping him.

  7. Well, I have decided that when the single game tickets go on sale I will be buying! This will be an event and I am sure the crowd will be wild. It will also be interesting to see it played on a neutral floor. Now the only question remaining is how damn cold will it be in the RR Valley for that game.

    But......remember......I don't give a damn about the rivalry......... ;)

Not sure when they went on sale...but I bought 4 yesterday. gohomebison.com

  8. I was wondering if on football/hockey Saturday's people park their cars on campus and walk to the stadium and arena. How long does it take to walk from one to the other? Thanks for any help.

Google says it's 1.2 miles from the Chester Fritz Auditorium to the Alerus Center. Some students walk and there are shuttle busses. Wouldn't be a bad walk in nice weather. Parking at the Alerus is $5.

Parking away from the Ralph and walking is alot less hassle. They have a shuttle from the new parking ramp.

Also, several of the bars/restaurants run shuttles on game days.

  9. With this new offense could UND become a passing team instead of a historically known rushing team. I haven't seen UND be a passing team since Kurt Otto in the mid 1980's.

In reality, I think it's already happened. (See media guide, page 124)

Based on total yards, it's been 1998 since UND had more yards rushing than passing. 2007 was basically 50/50 in yardage; but in 4 of the last 5 years the rushing has been under 40% of the total offensive yards.

  10. This part surprised me. I didn't realize there were plans to make any students pay for football tickets. Hopefully there won't be too much of an uproar...

Hopefully there will be an uproar...that would mean 2,156 student tickets are spoken for.

  11. ...will cause a great wailing and gnashing of teeth in Wisconsin Fargo, where the majority of Packers Bison fans again will claim that they no longer care one whit about Brett Favre the Fighting Sioux yet will wake up with tear-soaked pillows almost every morning.

Personalized for WYO and his friends down south ;)
