  1. When does spring practice start and when is the spring game?

    From Wayne's blog:

UND is scheduled to open spring football practice Monday, weather permitting. The annual spring game is set for April 24 in the Alerus Center.

One other football note: UND's season opener at Idaho will be on Sept. 2, a Thursday. The game originally was scheduled for Sept. 4.

The game times for the opener and the Sept. 11 game at Northern Illinois have not yet been set.

Still no word on an 11th game for the 2010 season.

  2. Geeeeeez, you guys are worse than my kids!

    1) how many "shots" I took me to hit green.

    2) how close was my ball to the cup when the ball eventually landed on the green.

    3) final score for the 17th hole afer I putted out.

90 minutes in and already changing the rules? Next you'll change the prizes.

    1) 1 shot

    2) 4 feet

    3) One-putt for a 2.

<Reasoning...if you drowned 2 balls and 3-putted you wouldn't have brought it up>

<Go ahead and change the prizes if they involve beer>

  3. You just need to guess:

    1) how many balls it took me to hit the green.

    2) how close I was to the pin when I hit the green.

    3) what my score was after putting out.

    1) It took you one ball to hit the green. Not necessarily the first ball you hit.

    2) You were 118 yards away from the pin when you hit the green.

    3) Your score was 73 after the 17th hole.

    Pony up

  4. Anymore? Hmmm.... By the sound of most of your posts, I'm pretty sure that you are still sporting a "Whiskey-Joe-in-a-Speedo" screen saver on your computer. That, along with the Bison BB flood promo video (and kleenex), must keep you very busy :silly:

Now I need to bleach my mental image database. Thanks.

  5. So maybe the SBoHE should be commissioning audits of each NDUS institution's finances every semester? Or what?

I would be shocked if there isn't a yearly audit of each institution.

Here's a problem with an audit though...the CEO type and the CFO type have to sign a statement that all information has been provided and is truthful.

Any UND freshman accounting student will tell you that. They'll also tell you not to lie to auditors or disregard your governing board.

  6. I mean to spend over $400,000 remodling your office and try and hide it from the people of ND??

Besides the part about hiding it....I'm sure his office is a suite and there was some infrastructure to deal with...but how would you go about spending $400K on an office?

  7. The SBoHE has nothing to do with this, you just want to use this as an excuse to fire them because you're bitter about the nickname being retired.

The SBoHE has everything to do with it. Remember the showdown 4-5 years ago? They had the opportunity and reason to reign in Chapman. Whiskey Joe got immunity in perpetuity and Robert Potts got "Chappied".

  8. North Dakotan's generally are so trusting and so naive about manipulative-type people that their social radar doesn't even pick up those traits.

I've received a lot of heat from bison fans for "hating" Chapman and by inference NDSU over the years, but Chapman's deeper character was always evident. Guess I've been around too many Philly and New Jersey types that have incredible street smarts. Chapman was gifted in many ways, but he used his gifts to deceive and manipulate. Would love to hear a public mea culpa from John Q Paulsen, who did much of Chapman's dirty poliitcal work and gave Chapman the confidence that SBoHE mandates and state law need not apply. The fallout from Chapman's scandals could politically affect NDSU for years, as almost all of NDSU's poliitcal allies have been tainted by association.

Chapman the emporer never did have any clothes: maybe bisonville will finally see that true reality.

Add a public apology to Robert Potts.

  9. Sorry to see the resignation of Mr. Adams. I have been able to get to know him and his family a little bit over the past couple years. He seemed to be a good decent, straight forward individual.

Sounds like he's not going quietly either. Reading his resignation letter of KFGO right now.

When that audit report comes out, you best have your popcorn ready.

  10. Can I just ask one question here: lets say that NDSU had been doing a lot of bad things in the past, unethical leadership, whatever....now that the new president is uncovering this issues and is being upfront about them with the public and being proactive about fixing those issues and the image of NDSU....are you guys really going to sit on here and still hate NDSU for what the past administration did?

OK, Mpls, let's just say that!

Even though stopping the football game made sense for UND at the time, most here would probably agree that it was handled badly. How many Bison have gotten over that?

Here's a major difference though...we'll tell you it shouldn't have happened like it did. The Water Buffalo faithful will blame Chappy's death spiral on an anti-NDSU agenda from the legislature and/or SBoHE, and deny that any "unethical leadership" ever happened. Sound familiar?

As long as there's no games, any missteps by either side are going to be blood in the water for the other side. So let's just go back to UND beating NDSU like the old days and no one will pay attention to administration stuff.

PS - Are you saying that NDSU's president in place and taking care of things?

PPS - Water Buffaloes have spent the last year saying their higher enrollment somehow makes them better than UND. What's the line when UND surpasses them again? Either temporarily or permanently, it's going to happen at some point.

  11. Wonder if Lakes & Co were behind the bench? :silly:

What do you think, Star: Here's some quotes from his various aliases:

    Bisonville:

Hunter is a whiny baby, his players wanted to fight!! slick + boys were fine!!!

    Bisonville:

NEWS UPDATE: RON HUNTERS tells SLICK VIC, 'ill whoop your ass boy'

slick 'id like to see you try'

where, then glenn, young + some reserve went after slick with fists clenched.

Fargo pd steps in, and then asks the most proposterus statement in fargo police history 'were you drinking or was he (ron hunter) drinking?'

    you cannot make this up!!

ps-slick couldve got glenn kicked out of tourney, and ndsu could've sandbagged saturday and got #7 seed and beat #2 iupui without glenn, dangit slick!!!!

    Bison media blog:

p.s- ron hunter you are a wimp, you calling out a ndsu student and saying "ill whoop your ass" is 100% uncalled for.

  12. How about this. No annual game, no Nickel Trophy on the line.

I think I've heard somewhere that there will have to be a new more PC-friendly trophy to replace the Nickel. It's mostly because of the offensive imagery on the Nickel. Unless we could grind off the picture of that hideous water buffalo. :silly:

  13. P.S. - Just because a college hockey game is televised on a national cable network does not mean anyone tuned in to watch! They have these things called "ratings"...

Mpls, I know that you wouldn't accept this statement from anyone else without proof, so I'm asking you for proof of the ratings. What were the ratings for the early Thursday NCAA game the Bison played with vs. the Bemidji State Frozen Four semifinal.

  14. They had 4 games in that time slot. So a fourth of the nation would be seeing NDSU-Kansas while the rest would be aware of the game via the ticker and in-game updates.

But the game itself is not really what got NDSU the attention. The team was hyped in pre-game due to being the first team to make the tournament its first year being eligible and then because of the promo done on the team helping with the Fargo floods. That was seen by everyone in the nation.

So, would that exposure be about similar to what Bemidji State got for going to the Frozen 4? They were also featured in the Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, etc.

No wait, I guess their game was televised to the entire country.
