  1. Since you want to talk about it. Yes NDSU made the move up but only after trying to get the rest of the NCC on board. NDSU and SDSU even stayed an extra year (UNC went a year earlier) waiting. Face it UND was comfortable with the present setup with hockey being king. As far as the rules for the playoffs they were changed the same year RT held his famous press conference. Or you can say the schools that left had the insight and leadership to see the changing landscape in DII and made the move up. UND took the wait and see what would happen attitude and couldn't take the fan pressure after NDSU's sucessful transition. Winning big games with the Gophers, Badgers, Ball State, CM, KU and Marquette they couldn't stand NDSU's success, so you made the move. As far as continuing the series UND continues to make it hard by demanding a every year game (I doubt they would want that today) and turing down an every other year contract. Who knows what will happen.. :)

Not getting into the pissing match or downplaying how well NDSU has done...

UND would have started their exploratory year in July of 2007. At that time NDSU football was still in the GWFC and the only signature win on your list that had happened was Ball State.

  2. My buddy just bought 4 SRO seats. Go buy em up sioux fans, at least it gets you in the building!

Just bought 2 SRO for my kids. However, they can't make it until Saturday...

Will sell 2 Thursday tix for 1/2 of what I just paid, $205 total.

  3. What is Racist? JESSE JACKSON & AL SHARPTON

There was a racial incident a couple months ago...don't remember what it was about. But both Fox and MSNBC had Sharpton on that night as the Elder Statesman/Voice of reason. And he actually did sound reasonable. I was impressed.

  4. Hmmm? That could very well be. When did he come back to UND then? I was there from Fall of 89 to Spring of 92. Wait, this is starting to jog my memory a little. It may be that he contacted me after he returned, not when I arrived. Whatever it was, I still respect him a lot for taking the initiative to do so and for simply being descent.

I checked the Saluki website. It says he graduated from UND in 1983 but I don't believe that is right. Doesn't say when he was at Northern State for grad school. (I think he graduated from UND in 84 or 85 and Northern in 86)

    1986 Valley City Dbacks

    1987 Dickinson Lbackers

    88-89 UND D Line

    90-96 UND D Coordinator

    97-98 Mary HC

    99-07 UND HC

    08- SIU HC

  5. No, not anymore. Early on he was. As for Lennon, his coaching experience away from UND likely played major role in his ultimate success, along with the kind of person he is. For example, Lennon was a GA when I played for the Bison. Within the first month or so of me being at UND after NDSU, I got a messege that he wanted to talk to me. I called, he welcomed me to UND, and invited me out for a beer and BS session. We met up a few days later, had a couple of beers together, talked UND and NDSU football and other mutual interests. Thought that was pretty cool of him. Also, to this day when we see each other he says "Hey" CAS (remembers my name), we shake hands, shoot a little BS, and go our seperate ways. I think this is just one example of the kind of man he is and why he is such an excellent coach.

I don't believe that part of it is correct. IIRC, Dale earned his masters at Northern State (87?), and spent a year at both Valley City and Dickinson before returning to UND. I think he started at UND as a defensive line coach before moving up to DC.

  6. Well, here I/we are :)

We've actually had plenty of internal dialogue within the UND media relations office about developing a presence on SiouxSports.com. I guess subconsciously we were just waiting for you to call us out!

That we'd like to have a presence here (other than "lurking") has always been a given; rather, the discussion has always centered around what exactly that presence would be, and how would it best serve not only UND athletics, but our fan base as well.

Would you be willing to have your own section on here to answer questions on a regular basis? Obviously not rumors or hypotheticals, but to give us the Athletic Department's stance on subjects that you could discuss.

Do many other colleges have an "official" presence on a message board?

  7. Prior to the live chat this morning with Mussman, I hadn't realized Jace Schillinger was no longer at UND. Anybody know where he went?

Was just going to ask that. I missed it too.

From the live chat this morning

9:14 Chris Mussman: Arizona is area we will look to expand. We had Coach Schillinger in that area before he left us, I then put Coach Carey in that area and he left us. I'm afraid to put one of the staff in AZ.

  8. I wouldn't think Douple is blowing smoke........why would he?

Whether he's lying or telling the truth, it's baffling why he would say that to the press. If he's lying they've got to fire him, and if he's telling the truth none of the other schools will ever trust him again.

  9. Good news Sioux fans

    2012 schedule almost complete

    FBS @ San Diego St.

OOC vs Central Arkansas (other end of the home and home in 2009)

    8 Big Sky games

leaves only 1 OOC to schedule. Make it a good one Faison.

Anyone know why we couldn't have gotten a couple BSC teams for non-conference? I thought they were hard up for non-conference games.

On the bright side, it's a great year to get a better season ticket location for the future! :D

  10. Actually as a part of ND history it would be appropriate to place it at the Heritage Center. I guess if the UND folks want to cling to it, the NDSU fans probably don't really care anymore.

I agree, that both the Nickel and Sitting Bull trophies should be displayed...in Grand Forks. If I recall correctly, UND won the last contest for each and the series.

The Division II trophies that NDSU has also are historic and will never be competed for again. By your logic those should be in Bismarck also?

  11. Also, a bunch of people are currently in the process of setting up a website and benefit fund to help my family offset some of my medical bills as I'm the sole financial provider for my family of 4 kids (7 years old, 4 years old, 3 years old and 6 months) and my wife. They're also going to be setting up some benefit concerts, silent auctions, raffles, etc. Any help anyone could give would be GREATLY appreciated. I'll post a link to the website once it's created.

I hope everyone will do what they can with thoughts, prayers, and contributions.

Also, would anyone be willing to coordinate donations of Fighting Sioux apparel? Maybe get Scheel's/bookstore/Sioux Shop to accept donations? Buy an extra item when you're shopping for the family. Let's keep these kids in Fighting Sioux clothing until they're students at the University of North Dakota.

  12. Is it possible to continue the annual home/home USD/UND series. I think it is if the schools are willing to go 5 home games one year, 6 the next. Also, it would mean the Bison/Sioux series is over forever because there would not be room for both. I'd at least like to see USD/UND continue until something can be worked out with NDSU. I realize the resumption of the NDSU game is more important than the USD series. This is what stinks about us not all being in the same conference but I don't think these conference realignments are over forever.

Probably won't happen, but I would like to see us play 2 of the 3 schools each year.

1-Play NDSU and one of the SD schools

2-Play USD and one of the xDSU's

  13. FCS cut the deal with the FSSN.....FCS is paying for those games from the FSSN so it is a money maker.

All FCS is doing is grabbing the feed from the FSSN

I've never seen the FCS feed. Do they sell their own commercials or just use FSSN's? (Home of Economy, Dahlstrom, etc.)

  14. An interesting thought was posted over on Bisonville......The deer opener is a killer for attendance at any home game for either school. The suggestion was to play a NDSU/UND game at 7pm the Saturday of the deer opener. Would this game sell out?

The game would sell out if it was at dawn on Christmas morning.

Doubt that both conferences would make room for an OOC that late in the year.
