  1. It was a great WCHA game, and atmosphere, to start the Drive To Denver. A tough loss to be sure, and a disappointing third period, but a great game. The Sioux played damned well in many respects, and certainly had some chances to bury a few pucks laying around the crease. Dan Dunn played well and stepped up. Lammy not so well and did not step up. End of story. End of game. I thought that Duncan looked particularly impressive on the ice. He controlled the puck well, and presented a number of fine opportunities for rebounds or shots. I was a bit surprised to not see LaPoint in uniform. At least I do not recall seeing him on the ice. I am a bit concerned that Lammy may simply be wearing down and tiring out. Someone with more knowledge than me suggested that he might be a bit lackadaisical because he knows the job is his and therefore he is not being pushed. The defense, rock solid for two periods, seemed to fall down in the third. It was no where to be seen on Clown's final goal. The Clown fans did have their fun. They are good fans, and Clown has a talented and veteran squad. There is no shame in losing to them, as they are fighting for a top five finish as well. It's the WCHA. Come prepared to do battle for sixty minutes every night, through the final whistle, or be prepared to come out empty handed. No matter who you are or what your pedigree is. The loss is probably my fault. I think that I wore the wrong jersey, did not wear a hat, and disrupted several other of my pre-game rituals. My apologies to all. Tonight will be different, and the Sioux will win.
  2. A short and belated thanks to The Source for the grub, and to the handful of other fine fans who showed up to brave the elements and dine on fine pork, shrimp, and venison. A small crowd, but a quality crowd.
  3. As for the Gophers, let's not forget the auto bid through the Final Five. If the Gophers win their first round series, anything can, and often does, happen at the Final Five. Playing before the legions, the Goophs could well get the auto bid. If the Goophs stumble and fall, it will be interesting to see the hit on ticket sales. While good Gopher fans are good college hockey fans and will go to the tournament regardless, no Gophers in Saint Paul will also mean that many of the coneheaded faithful will also not be there.
  4. Sounds like Tim's Pa was one heck of a guy who was blessed with much family and a rich life in all of the things that are important. Our condolences to Tim and to all of the Hennessys on this tough loss of a fine Pa. Jack is being laid to rest today in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. The highest honor. Jack Hennessy Obituary I cannot link directly to it. You need to do a 7-day or 30-day search for "Hennessy."
  5. We are all set. No more need. Thanks.
  6. We need a single for tonight. Preferrably at a bargain price. We can pick up, or meet you outside The Ralph. 612.201.3239. Tim.
  7. We have two upper deck tickets for Friday that we will trade for one lower bowl ticket on Saturday. Or, we will sell the Friday tickets for $35 total. I think that they are near center ice. We will be traveling. Call on cell if you can help us out. 612.201.3239.

  9. To mimic the old phrase, it ain't official until it's official, and he ain't gone until he is gone. Unless some of us are LaDonny Lucia in drag, or have a pipeline to the coaching staff or the Okposos, I will believe it when I see it. Makes perfect sense, of course, what with the history of team play and unified purpose coming out of The John of late.
  10. Hey Hendo . . . . Are these the same tickets that you are shilling over on Craigslist as well? No listing on GPL because of its policy against asking for more than face? Man up and just go to the games.
  11. Craigslist Posting for Sioux-Gopher tickets Git 'em while they are there.
  12. It's gonna be a great series and a great weekend. Sioux-Gopher hockey is the most intense and most exciting rivalry in all of college sport. At least as far as I am concerned. Opinions are like arseholes. This one is mine. The Gophers are banged up a bit, and have shown little heart this far into the season. The Sioux are loaded and largely healthy, but for the big loss of Genoway. The Sioux will well have their chance to show the size and strength of their heart this weekend. While winning in the WCHA always requires hard work, and while it is often and well-proven that hard work bests talent most every Friday or Saturday night of the season, here is saying that the Sioux will out-work, out-hit, out-muscle, out-skate, out-shoot, out-finesse, out-desire, out-output, out-coach, and out-score the Gophers in both games. The games will be a springboard to further Sioux success, and a gangplank for the Gophers, who may well soon walk the same while packing it in for the remainder. Lucia is at the helm of a ship in trouble, and that ship is going to take two solid hits this weekend. Sioux sweep. Gopher fans weep. Sioux rule. Gopher fans drool. Sioux prevail. Gopher fans high tail. Out of town. Just like they did in March of '06. That line of red lights heading south on I-29 that night was a priceless sight to see. No wonder few of them like the Great City on the Red --Grand Forks.
  13. Call Ed Gein?
  14. Hey Triouxp. I didn't know you liked cowboys. I was "all around rodeo champ" in '86. Got a buckle to prove it. Ya wanna go camping sometime? Sioux sweep. Give the folks at the Moon a slap for me.
  15. Real cool AZSIOUX. Real cool. You are a good man. Nice to see Russell speak so highly of the Sioux program. It will be great to see him bring Tech back to a meaningful position of force on the national stage. It's gonna happen. He is too good of a coach and a recruiter for it not to happen. A Sioux-Tech matchup for the Broadmoor, and again a few weeks later for the NC, may well be in the offing come '08.
  16. Years ago, I used to dream about skating for the Sioux. Coming on on a breakway, wobbling toward the goalie, riding my ankles, and somehow putting in the game winner. No kidding. I had those dreams. Then one morning I rolled my ankle getting out of bed. Bad. I don't dream about it no more.
  17. Among many other compliments that I have bestowed on him, I will also say that he did not sweat much for a fat guy.
  18. Yeah. That was a bummer. I think that I may have watched the game with two jinx that I know. They have been good fans, great fans even. Not a bad word out of their mouths the whole game. And the boys still lost. We talked about whether it might be a good idea to jump on a bad mouth wagon, or even more exciting, to see how fun it would be to hit the panic button. We looked at each other and said, "Nah, it's only the end of November. Dalut is a good teem." Then we went out to live our lives for the night. They on a sleepover. Me in the bars. I am sure glad that I am not expected to perform night after night after night like the Sioux are. Sometimes some learn more from losing than they do from winning. Especially at this time of year. Everyone take two powders. We'll all be better in the morning. Go Sioux!
  19. Nice solid interview by Patrick C. Miller. Nice sweater. Hair combed nicely. Was not sweating. Very articulate. A little hindsight. A little foresight. Some history. Some predictions. some hand gesturing. Some insights into where he has been, where he is now, and to where he might some day be going. Nice job PCM. Very nice.
  20. Thanks AZSIOUX. I could be the Minister of MisInformation if I tried just a little bit harder. I will defer to those in the know, to those that think that they are in the know, and to those who know best enough to know that they know nothing at all except when they know that they have solid knowledge on things in need of the know. Eh?
  21. Sorry. I think it already happened, right before the season started. Next one, I think, would be at season end. I do not think that any such events happen during the year. I could be wrong.
  22. That's a BIG 10-4 there Triouxper. Now get back to work.
  23. Billy Stankoven. He'd get all of the boys to rally around his hairstyle of the day. They'd all get the big puffy perms, and they would be all of the more unified and meaner on the ice for it. The new hairdos would also operate to repel the jersey chasers, thereby eliminating that off-ice distraction.
  24. It was a mighty solid, although not great, early season WCHA game. It likely taught both teams and their fans alot. The Badgers that they are not nearly as good as they thought that they might be. The Badger fans that they are, perhaps, the biggest collective group of uninformed homers in the league (a big feat given the fans at The John). The Sioux that lasting meddle is often formed through the cauldrons of adversity, and that standing up for each other makes for a genuine band of brothers. And the Sioux fans that there are few things in the world of sport that are better than following the Fighting Sioux when they are on the road in the WCHA. The miles were well traveled, and the trip was well worth it. Down the road, into '08, the Saturday game will be fondly recalled as one of those rare "find your identity" games that springboard a team towards destiny. It was great seeing the faces of many Sioux fans, and it was doubly great jawing with the high crying reds out of Madison. As in politics, as in sports. They have rarely, if ever, a clue.
  25. Hi Folks . . . . I posted a plea here long ago and will try again here now. My folks, now in their 80's and BIG Sioux sports fans, are having family come to town that weekend. Just worked out that way. Needless to say, everyone wants to go to the games. Although we already have five season tickets, we are in need of about six more tickets for each night. Big clan. Realizing that beggars cannot be choosers, anywhere in the building, except standing rooms in the bar, will be welcome. If you have anything, pm me here, e-mail me at fortparker911@msn.com, or call either of us: John and Aggie 701.772.3622 Tim 612.201.3239. Thanks. NDH
