The UND hockey program emulates itself like an NHL program/team if that is the case with all the resources UND has Berry would have been fired a few years ago with the lack of post season success.

The state hockey tournament is the crown jewelry of HS sports in MN. The closest thing ND has is the Class B boys state basketball tournament and that is even debatable now with the 3 class system.

The empty seats thing doesn't matter as what 75% of the seats are season ticket holders and the money is already in the bank. Now if season ticket sales started to drop drastically that argument could hold.
