im all for dropping the d2 and d3 schools (and miami) from the nchc and adding larger startups in the near future.....whether they be unlv or tsu or lindy or whatnot
So drop Duluth, St. Cloud, and CC from our conference so you can watch game on TV? That is just dumb.

they have the money....(denver)
To buy all the necessary equipment and hire a staff of experienced camera crew just to air hockey? St. Cloud, Duluth, CC, Miami Ohio and Western aren't going to drop all that money themselves just to air hockey.
Yes, all the schools should have good production of their games but again this just shows how low of a priority hockey is around the country compared to other sports. The money just does not add up for the schools to justify dropping a huge amount of money on equipment and then hiring a full-time crew for one sport. -

Every team in the conference should be required to have the same level of cameras as UND. Denver is a joke.
It easier said than done. It costs roughly $2 million (or more) to get all the equipment needed to match what Midco does and a team of individuals to produce it. I highly doubt many schools in the NCHC will want to fork over that kind of money themselves. UND is very fortunate to have MIDCO (and previously Forum Communications) in their backyard and willing to do it.

Is it time for UND to change up the goal song? with our new Athletic Director being from Connecticut and growing up a Whalers fan I think it would be a good time to make the switch!
IF this is our only option, they better have the band play it and not some recording.

It’s going to be Herter or Smaby
My money is on Herter.
However, if I get to Judy's soon, I will be able to report back with 100% certainty on who it will be within the hour.-

A friend of mine who's at the FF just saw Erik Martinson and Bryn Chyzyk. I'm 100% convinced that they are going all in on Herter for the open coaching spot.
I was thinking the same thing about Herter. It would be an unbelievable staff if it were to happen.

I didn't realize Judy's was big enough for all of you people who like to make stuff up.
Are you sure you know what whistleblower means?-

I just did, it's been a busy week.
I listened to the presser again today; there was much to digest. F, yeah, comes to mind. Jackson is intense. He's going to work hard every day, and he expects the same from his coaches and players. Playing on a sports team is a lot like battling with your battle buddies. I don't feel they had that this year. It seemed like they had 23 guys going all different directions. You can't have people going in different directions. The culture is going to change.
I’ll give credit where it’s due and this was well done. What you wrote was exactly how I felt after watching his presser.

When Dane talked about culture, I took it a different way. I think Dane knew that the locker room issues were made public (mainly from gossip) and that players were already “leaving” in January. I don’t know why but when he said “culture” I took it as “I’m not putting up with that sh$# anymore and we are getting our identity back”. I feel like from now on we are going to see teams that are very physical but also play with perfection.
that’s just me though-

I mean i guess he deserves a shot. Probably will have a short leash. At least we shouldn't risk any players choosing elsewhere with the coaching change. Let's find a good associate coach. I don't think Karl deserves that just yet
Karl needs to go. How can you expect players to live in grand forks when you and your family don’t

Oh, I don’t know, maybe a lot of the reasons people on this site have given for thinking a change was in order. Giving only the positive stats and ignoring the others doesn’t give a complete picture, and I thought being a journalist was to give both sides of issues and let the readers decide for themselves.
Last time a local news reporter reported on a UND player in a bad light (I think it was one of Oshie’s incidents), said reporter got a call and got her butt chewed.

Why didnt he leave?
He’s played at the pro level, he knows what it takes and with having young kids at home, it probably didn’t make sense to him.

Could we ask? We got hurt because we put our trust in berry. He let us down by how he operated. What happened to his standards when his daughter took control of the nodak logo? Could this be the biggest red flag of all? This doesnt bode well for his integrity. How good of a guy is/was he? Is it possible the sioux lovers on this forum, dont want to see this for what it really is. Maybe we really dont know him at all. Did we all throw ourselves at Berry? Now we’ll give him a free pass for some seriously poor decisions? I still dont want to think badly of him. Is it possible he’s got dirt on the athletic dept? He knows where the skeletons are buried? Was a deal struck? His lips are sealed and so are unds? We dont know the whole story do we? Time will tell. Go sioux!
You’re acting like this is the JFK assassination. What skeletons are you even talking about? I think it’s time for you to leave Judy’s too

I sure hope not. How is that a great hire when the guy who got fired is replaced by the guy he knocked out of the tournament.

Big heart and soft nature was believe it or not HAK when he was assistant and early as HC.
Then came "Judy's" and Hak became Head Coach Dave Hakstol.
Bubs never had that epiphany moment.
Hak knew he had to change his way of coaching so he could get 110% out of everyone. Bubs didn't and I believe his players took advantage of him for it.

To my knowledge, Grant was not offered a scholarship and was simply expected to walk-on. Was not even recruited until he committed to Minnesota. Sioux fan growing up. Pretty poor foresight* as it cost UND G Potulny, R Potulny and D Irmen. Similarly, Michigan St locking up the oldest Cullen was masterclass as it likely means they get the family (with the younger ones being even better and that's no knock on Brooks who is a really solid hockey player).
Was it poor foresight to not get those three? I would say no because Blais and Hak foresight were to bring on Parise, Stafford, Murray, Porter, Zajac, Spirko, etc.

When I read the letter my take was that the "too many to name" comment was in reference to the "Ralph Engelstad staff/employees". Given how long the letter was and how many other people were named specifically, it does seem odd that the associate/assistant coaches were not mentioned, or even Poolman for that matter.
Someone else had mentioned that the Dane/Brad relationship was all hunky-dory initially but that it soured over time. I also had heard that Brad had started limiting Dane's voice and influence with the players and that Dane also wanted to handle the most significant locker room issue thing differently but obviously Brad had final say there. I'm not trying to trash Brad at all as he is a genuine guy and I have no doubts that he did everything with the intent that it be for the best of the program, but perhaps his big heart and softer nature clouded his judgement a bit.I don't know who'd be the best next coach either. My first choice wasn't going to be Dane and thought a fresh start would be good, but how in the world do any of us really know what'd be best? Perhaps we shouldn't hold some of his coaching responsibilities and the results of them against him just based on this past year. We have had good forward groups in the past, and a solid PK. This year was a dud sure, but if he becomes HC and brings in some very good assistants, perhaps they can take things a new direction and improve results too. If he's named coach, hopefully he can take the bits of things he has seen and experienced under everyone he's worked with and devise a way to getting the guys truly play the brand of hockey we've grown to love over the years.
I believe that was his downfall and some players took advantage of that.

Two things can be - and I think are - true:
1) Brad is a high character, good person who cares deeply for UND Hockey and always will.
2) It was time to move in a different direction.
His letter was fantastic and classy IMHO. He will receive the same treatment that Blais and Hak receive when they show him on the big board at the Ralph.
100% on everything.
The one thing that I think hurt Berry was his trust in certain players also being high character individuals. Jammer was Berry's guy and if what is being said about Jammer is true, he really let Berry down.-

Rhett
I wouldn't let MGsioux rant discourage you. He's upset that he isn't in the know and that his person likely isn't going to be the next HC.

New NCHC tv deal
in Men's Hockey

You are just moving it from one platform to another. ESPN isn't coming in to produce the games, they just take the feed from wherever, so you'll still get the same quality that is on nchc.tv
