Bek and Hancock are long gone. Squires remains for now.

Lived in Bek my freshman year and I was sad to see that one torn down. Lot of good times on the 3rd floor :)

My guess would be Fanatics, but that's just a guess. UND seems to go with the same company as the NHL

Doubt anything will change as UND has an exclusive deal with Adidas and they will supply UND with apparel, accessories, footwear and uniforms for all their teams. This deal runs through the 24-25 season.

Oh I know...It was more of a shot at gfhockey because he said he is in the "know" more than other people

He's a good youth baseball coach for the community from what I hear - he should stick with that.  Otherwise he was just a paranoid embarrassment for people just passing through the community who might tune into local radio for a flavor of the community and KEEP ON DRIVING for his horrendous idiotic rants.

I don't know anything about this new guy they have but I've basically turned off KNOX as a local talk source and this only makes GF more of a new desert - and that's the REAL PROBLEM!   The Herald has moved into a strip mall.   WDAY is only interested in promoting how great Fargo is for every reason under the sun.   Don't support Forum Communications on any level if you live in GF!.  They have said "F*CK YOU" to Grand Forks - we should say the same.  Leighton and Fox reactions TBD???

How about standing up for GF as a COMMUNITY without worrying about the politics?   That's what Fargo does and it's what we need to do...the question is how do we do it?

Don't blame Forum Communcations for not supporting Grand Forks because as someone who used to work for them, Grand Forks BARELY supported WDAZ.

Ate at the Spud in EGF on Sunday night. My what an awesome restaurant. It was like a trip down memory lane reading some of the menu items and some of the things in the building.

Heard nothing but great things about that place but I always forget about that place when I get back to town....

ASU should be in if they are willing regardless of what Miami does. I’m not so sure about discount exit fee unless they vote to change exit fees for everyone. If they do this for one school precedent is set and it makes it easier for other schools to leave concluding WMU. The NCHC should be considering Michigan Tech and or NMU, Mankato, Bemidji, St. Thomas and Augustana to name a few, (there may be others) as to whether or not ( and if so when) addition of any or all of these teams would be beneficial or detrimental to the conference. Worst case would be losing 2 teams and no replacements. I’m not a fan of hockey under the Summit umbrella yet.

ASU has done everything to create a viable hockey program that will contend for championships in the years to come. The NCHC shouldn't be dragging their feet on this one and just let them in. Who cares if its 9 teams in a conference, the highest seed can get a bye in the conference tournament.

If Miami sincerely wants out, and if there was a drop-in ready replacement for them, I'd let them out, but they pay a reduced exit fee, enough to cover the league's transition expenses.

However, I fear that puts WMU on an island. They'd likely be the next shoe to drop. A straight trade (StT/WMU) would keep balances and alignments and get a Summit member with the other Summit/NCHC members.

reduced fee with a replacement university = only feasible way to still drive home the originally point of making it hard to exit.

How about a space where we don't say the same crap, over and over and over and over? That's what I'd like to be safe from.

Then everyone would have to leave Sioux Sports because everyone is equally to blame in saying the same crap over and over again.

You mean the one where UND was the number one overall seed going into the tournament that got cancelled?
Nothing guaranteed one way or another but if that season plays out, one of the two opinion camps have a data point to work with (and I'm stating it could have been either side).

For FO(* sake, lets not hang our hat on that season. I am sick of our fans saying "if we played that tournament, we would've been national champs", that season never played out and we will never know. The 98-99 team was one of the best teams UND ever had and they lost in their first game of the tournament that year.

I've lost count, but I've been here 12-13-14 years or something.  The fact you're first saying this now shows you'd be incorrect.  Though Hak never won a title, he continued to grow the program in a positive direction and made UND hockey fun and competitive.  Berry started on a high note and has not only failed to continue that growth, but our program has waned under his watch.  I've given Berry his chances after earlier program hardships which is why I wasn't vocal then, but when it's time to call a spade a spade, I'm not going to sit here and not voice my opinion.  That's what we're all here for, is it not?  Or, do many of you just want a safe space echo chamber of positivity?  Some are okay with where UND is at.  I don't get it, but fine...so be it.  I'm not happy and won't accept where our program is right now.  Everyone wants to give Berry more chances, but keep in mind, this isn't his first misstep.  Covid fog is gettin' to many of you.

If you want a safe space for positivity just go to "All things Fighting Sioux" on facebook. Mama Gaber will take care of you

Run the apocalyptic nightmare scenario ...
    Someone would pay the buyout.

You are correct that it would be a nightmare scenario but Berry is such a "nice guy" who won a national title that I do not think anyone would pony up the dough. They will let his contract run out and bid him farewell.

I've said it before: This is a critical year for the hockey staff.

It is in the eyes of the fans but not in the eyes of the school. I highly doubt the school "buys-out" Berry. Staff members will be let go before the school fires Berry.

Why take that chance against a team that tries to win a game with a race to 2 goals? We have nothing to gain by playing them. No one has disputed my contention that playing Bemidji is like watching paint dry. I'm not saying playing them every now and again, but why every year?

For historical context, Bemidji's pairwise last year was 29. It was good the 2 years before that (10 and 12), but if you go deeper they were 35 in 2018-19, 31 in 2017-18, 29 in 2016-17 and 32 in 2015-16. They are typically going to be between 29 and 35.

Why take a chance with any team then? Playing Bemidji and developing a rivalry with them is a good thing for local/college hockey.
Have you seen UND in the pairwise lately? With the way we have been the last few years, I wouldn't be going around knocking other teams while saying it "hurts" us to play them. Guess what, if we wouldn't have tied them last year, we would've been in a better position in the Pairwise. If they are an easy team to beat, then we should beat them. All you need to do in college hockey is win your games, the rest will take care of itself.
It's time for our fanbase to get over this "we are better than other teams" mentality, its sickening.

We have had a lot of other players over the years, but foothold was a poor choice of words.  I should have said get our foot back in the door.

I’d say we probably have gotten the best warroad has produced over the years.

  15. 27 minutes ago, SpudsSioux said:

Might be a generational gap here and people that follow further back know it used to be a foothold. Marvins (Lee, Cal, David), Christians (Dave, Eddie), Al Hansleben.

Makes sense that there's been a shift with Hardwick at the helm and him being a Bulldog.

Generational gap? Please! you named 6 players out of over 300 players that have played hockey elsewhere. I wouldn't exactly say UND has a strong "foothold" on the Warroad players like you think.

  16. 13 minutes ago, tnt said:

...but in his interview last month he said his favorite college team was the Bulldogs, so I think it is a good thing Berry clinched this deal, as lately guys like Roth and Shaugabay have turned Warroad into somewhat of a neutral ground.   Needed to get a foothold back in there.

What do you mean a foothold? Oshie and Nelson are the only ones that have came to UND from Warroad (Lee Marvin was another one). There has been A LOT of talent that has gone elsewhere from there. It's always been a neutral ground.

Hope Toews plays at least one more season. Sign with Washington and reunite with Oshie would be fun to see.

That would be foolish for all parties. Washington is an aging team that needs to be rebuilt but wont until Ovie passes Gretzky.

No disrespect to Quinnipiac; I picked them to win the tournament. But for some reason, the Goofs got conservative after getting a two-goal lead and it backfired big time. Prevent defense prevents you from winning. It is a fact of life in the NFL and it is also a fact of life in this sport.

Minnesota got conservative or the players for Quinnipiac shut them down? As much as you guys are saying "No disrespect to Quinnipiac" you really are disrespecting them. You are basically saying that the Gophers shouldn't have lost when they were up by two goals and Quinnipiac should've packed it in. I don't care what anyone says about Quinnipiac's strength of schedule or anything, they are a great team (stats back it up) and they consistently played well all year.
