There is way too much history between the programs to treat them as "just another non-conference opponent". But that's just me.

That's exactly what it is, HISTORY. When the B10 and NCHC were created and they stopped playing, the rivalry went away and they are just another non-conference opponent.

I have said this before and I will say it again: Screw realignment, this is still our #1 enemy. And I still feel the same way about them I did as an undergraduate.

    GO SIOUX, GOPHERS SUCK!!! :D

To me it's an out of conference game that we must win. I have moved on from them being our "so called #1 enemy", Denver is #1 in my book.

The way Ottawa is handling Pinto doesn’t seem like a good way to build goodwill amongst its players. But what do I know.

How are they handling him that's so bad?

The Sens are not doing Pinto wrong by any means, they just have no money to sign him to a long term deal at the moment. They need to unload salary before they can sign him, that just takes time.

I think many of us saw this coming several years ago having seen Barry Melrose in the booth with his hand shaking.  I loved Barry as a commentator and enjoyed his enthusiasm for college hockey.  Parkinson’s Disease is awful and I for one will be praying for him.

I know a lot of people don't like him but I truly loved listening to him and Bucci come spring

I’m just hoping for something that makes quality. I liked Reebok, CCM and now adidas. Nikes are kinda weird in their cut. New Balance of all companies outfits DU which is different. Time will tell. They won’t choose subpar products.

I'm about 95% sure that New Balance jerseys are made by SP and then their logo is stitched onto it as NB is the official apparel, footwear, and uniform provider for DU athletics.

Since they have been going with who makes the NHL jerseys lately, I expect Fanatics to be making the jerseys.

Fanatics doesn't actually make them, they just put their name on the jerseys that SP makes. I don't think we will see Fanatics as the on-ice jerseys. My guess is Nike or Under Armour, as they are big in other sports.

This may be a clue as to suppliers.

As the off ice replicas transition, They've gone to using this company to create replicas as well as Gemini it appears

Certainly not a new concept as UND has used many many different suppliers for licensed replica in the past, K1, Koronis, ...etc...

    Screenshot_20230821_095920_Chrome.jpg

Obviously, it will change but not until the contract is done with. I am sure a company like Gemini would love to come back and do business with the athletic department, but they just don't offer as much as a company like NIKE, Reebok or even Under Armour.

The days of each program finding their own apparel sponsor are long gone and we will continue to see our athletic department under one sponsorship, which will be driven by whatever the hockey team wants as they are the most notable sport in our program.

We gonna be going back to Nike jerseys?

Have noticed the SiouxShop selling some Nike North Dakota Hockey apparel.

Doubt anything will change as UND has an exclusive deal with Adidas and they will supply UND with apparel, accessories, footwear and uniforms for all their teams. This deal runs through the 24-25 season.

Yeah, correct. Look what happened to the officer Darren Wilson in St. Louis after his use of force that ended up killing Michael Brown, he  had to go into hiding because of threats against his life.

Unfortunately that's what happens nowadays and people who sign up to become a police officer know the risks. We don't have to like this but the fact remains that people (who pay the PO salary) have been getting abused by cops (this isn't an anti-cop post either) for years and now those same taxpayers want accountability/transparency. With that accountability/transparency though, the taxpayers NEED to act civil and let the process play out. This "mob mentality" that they have does nothing but harm everyone.

I don't like it either, puts the officer in danger.

People have been demanding transparency, so this is what we get. Not saying we have to like it at all but it seems like it is standard protocol.

Please link to what I posted on B'ville on topic. (Hint: I've said nothing there on topic.)

PS - A former FBI agent assigned to ND and NW MN, a friend, she agrees with me that the officer that ended the situation should not have been identified by name or photo.
PPS - "Need to know" has been used in place of "don't know" or "too scary to admit" too often. See: Vegas Route 91.

BCA shares new details in shooting of Ricky Cobb II on Monday including the trooper who fired the fatal shots (msn.com)

Seems to be a common practice that the officers get identified after shootings...

    Are these legit replicas?

What do you mean "legit replicas"? They are not cheap chinese jerseys and I believe the guy selling them said they were from K1 (which is a legitimate jersey manufacturer of hockey jerseys). So outside of that, what are your main concerns?

Also, they guy selling them is on the message boards and is as honest as can be, why not just ask him yourself?

Maybe if he'd apologized that would have helped.  Or shown an ounce of remorse or contrition.  Sorry but Miller is no victim.

He has apologized for it many times but the court has also forbid him having any contact with the victim (and I believe his family). So basically Miller is just doing what the court ordered him to do. I know this has to be hard on everyone and no matter what the punishment was going to be, the mother was/is never satisfied.

I wonder if Miller will play in Europe.

I would assume he will try and get on with some team in Europe. Might not be the top tier leagues right away but a league that will keep is skills sharp and hopefully one day find his way back to the states.

Not saying what he did was right but for pete sake it was like 7 years ago! We've all done dumb crap when we were young kids and I am sure everyone last one of us are embarrassed over it but that's life, you learn from your mistakes and make sure they don't happen again. To me the victim's mother is worse at her age than Mitchell was when he tormented that kid.

I thought I read the crash was a real accident (not a set-up).

More to listen for on Friday.

You are correct, the crash was just total coincidence at the time. The POS scumbag passed the accident and parked his vehicle and started his rampage.

Seeing a former MIAC school get a building like theirs funded in their jump to D-I should be enough to convince naysayers of their clout. I would love to see them in the NCHC one day, frankly.

With the addition of ASU, I believe we will see them in the conference sooner than later.

Hasn’t Mankato been better (Pairwise) than UND the past couple years?

Yup, they sure have. Do I think that will change this year and the following years, yes I do.

the shooter was allegedly planning to shoot up the Fargo street fair (Terrorism = FBI involved) and was spooked when officers arrived on the accident scene.  The shooter also had homemade explosives in his car and home (ATF involved)

I have been told this also.

I am okay with nothing being released for right now but they better start releasing information in the next couple weeks.

I'm just hoping that we can beat them in our series with them in late October.  :)

You and me both. Losing to teams like that has killed us the past few years.

I don't understand the pull of St. Thomas. They aren't competitive enough to play in the NCHC right now. Minnesota State is far more compelling amongst the current teams available.

How is Minnesota State more compelling? They just lost their head coach and half their team, I wouldn't be surprised if they turn out to be a bottom tier team for a long while.

With everything that has come out in Orono, parents need to stay out of the coaching process/decision making. It allows coaches to create a supportive and constructive environment where young athletes can learn, grow, and make their own mistakes, which allows these kids to develop resilience, problem-solving abilities, and a sense of responsibility. Parents should be their kids number 1 fan, no doubt but stay out of the decision making. As Bobby Orr said, "I promise you that if you’re good enough and work hard enough, then you’ll get a chance to play." Don't know much about the EGF Bantam situation but I was listening to KFAN the other day and someone called in on that.

This is a two-way street; coaches are just as bad these days. Take Izzy Marvin and the rest of Warroad. They recruit boys and girls to get an edge over all the competition. Is that fare to the local kids who lose their spot to an out-of-town kid because the coach wants to win so bad? I know I know; life isn't fair but if you are going to stand on this pedestal and preach that coaches these days are there to help kids grow and be better people down the road, than coach with what you have and don't bring in other talent. If you are a good coach like you say you are, then coaching kids to be better players won't be hard.
Also, I am not saying that what the Orono parents did was right, I am just speaking in general that this isn't just a "parent" issue.
