  1. Max Osceola said it best himself: "Here's another example of non-Indians telling Indians what's good for them." Link to entire article containing the quote is here: Max Osceola Comments
  2. Back to the original topic...I did purchase the Sioux fan bobble head at the REA Pro Shop last winter. It's pretty cool, especially since Forever Collectibles did the design. They have done "Legends of the Hardwood" and "Men of the Ice" along with "Cooperstown Heroes" and others. Could you imagine a "Legends of the Sioux" series with stars of the past and present? They could sell thousands of those things.
  3. A Cracker Jack box diploma? Why that carries about as much weight as a degree from St Cloud State!
  4. ...but you did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night?
  5. I agree as well. It's amazing how Major League Baseball struggles to figure out why kids don't like baseball anymore. I remember spending my lunch money buying several packs of Topps baseball cards in the hope of getting an Ozzie Smith, Reggie Jackson, or Bob Boone card in the 1980's. Then greed took over and now you can't find packs of cards. Of course, you can buy a box now with about 10 cards in it if you're an 8 year old with $20 in your pocket. As for the bobblehead craze, I thought it was out of control when I saw Woody Hayes bobbles on Ebay going for $250. Lucky for me, I found one on there at the bargain price of $85.
  6. By the time this ends, there will be 18 "exemptions" and the NCAA will still crow about sticking to its guns. Good work, NCAA. you continue to make fools of yourselves. Now go do something meaningful and help Cincinnati fire Bob Huggins. Yea, the same Coach Huggins who has yet to graduate a single "student-athlete" in his 14 years of coaching the Bearcats.
  7. Bobbleheads...a great idea until 30-40 year old men grab piles and piles of them while 3-4 year old kids go away disappointed.
  8. I'm being semi-facetious. Can we drop the puck early?
  9. Now that's funny. Did you hear in the new Star Wars movie that Darth Vader might be Luke Skywalker's father?
  10. I liked the comment by Todd Bertuzzi about how it took four guys to put the jersey on him. I'm guessing it was made more difficult to put that jersey on while you're busy smashing someone's face on the ice. Seriously, though, those black and red jerseys are among the worst hockey jerseys I have ever seen.
  11. Let's just hope Nike doesn't do to the Sioux unis what they did to Canada's. Nike's New Team Canada Hockey Uniform

Much like ending a guy's career results in being suspended for a few games + the playoffs plus a season that didn't happen anyways (Todd Bertuzzi). The punishment never seems to fit the crime, unfortunately.
  13. Interesting that St Cloud State's president didn't appear to have any comment regarding his own university's treatment of Jewish professors.
  14. I'm with ya there, Twin Cities. NDSU talks a big game like they'll get "exposure" when they play Minnesota. Perhaps they've been watching one-too-many Maine/Mississippi State or Troy vs Missouri games. Those upsets are few and far between. I'm guessing a couple of years of 40-7 and 48-3 scores against Minnesota, Iowa, or, heck, if they're so damn cocky, go ahead and head to The Big House and play Michigan, those NDSU players will be wondering why D-1 teams are on the schedule at all.
  15. Can I get an 'amen,' BigGame? I couldn't agree more. Dorgan and Conrad spend their time schmoozing with the likes of Hillary Rodham Clinton and Ted Kennedy, then come back to North Dakota and somehow woo the voters with their "mainstream" values. I'm constantly amazed at how North Dakota can go overwhelmingly Republican in presidential elections, then turn around and send two senators who oppose anything and everything that that Republican president wants to do. At least liberal states like New York and Pennsylvania and conservative states like Utah and Oklahoma are consistent.
  16. If Kent Conrad and Byron Dorgan are considered "moderate," then the clock has struck midnight. I venture to say if you took a gander at voting records in the senate, they're among the most liberal votes in the joint.
  17. I have always enjoyed Gary Thorne. You can tell he is genuinely excited about the game. I love hearing him yell "SCORE! SCORE! SCORE!" after a particularly big goal. Of course, I also liked Darren Pang and his "jumpin' joseph!" that he yelled during a Red Wings/Suckalanche game a few years back when Patrick Roy and Chris Osgood had a smackdown.
  18. I grew up in southwestern North Dakota and someone called me a "roughrider" once. I'm apalled that Red River High School continues to disrespect my ancestors.
  19. I checked the line-up on the web-site, but didn't see it.
