  1. Right on. St Cloud - meh. UMD - meh. Denver - 5-10 fans CC - 1 alumni living in the TC's, his wife, and player parents
  2. You're right, it is funny once you look back. This whole thread started to be about him and then he records a 59 save shut-out win almost immediately afterward. That's funny.
  3. Just get in the tournament...anything can happen after that.
  4. Personally, I would love to see St Cloud, UMD, Denver, and CC all eliminated in the first round just so we can see what Nebraska-Omaha, Western Michigan, and Miami bring to the Target Center. Perish the thought, but if UND is eliminated in the first round, the crowd at Target Center for the NCHC tournament will make the crowd at the WCHA tournament at Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids look like the Hockey City Classic
  5. Not sure if you're being tough on Scrivens or not, but it did take guys like Jimmy Howard and Ben Bishop a few years to develop into quality NHL goaltenders after they left the college scene.
  6. Whoa whoa whoa, you're saying there are teams playing an outdoor game this season? That's soooo cool!
  7. Like I said, AZSIOUX will not be happy about this premature posting.
  8. Shenanigans? Flashbacks? I call it "tomfoolery."
  9. Will you be wearing your Crosby #87 Canada jersey for the Sochi games?
  10. Nice post, Snake. It is always amusing watching Gopher fans try to explain that the X is a 'neutral' site venue. Remember the 2002 NCAA Frozen Four when Don Lucia was asked about the potential crowd and his response was something to the effect that he expected a 50/50 Maine/Minnesota split? That was downright comical. That's like saying a Frozen Four at Boston Garden involving Boston College and Minnesota would draw a half-and-half split. No way that happens. The higher seeds don't matter at all, especially if you're the host school in your own yard and the #4 seed. Heck, Wisconsin's last title was won without ever having to leave the state! Regional in Green Bay, Frozen Four in Milwaukee.
  11. Totally agree! I know their most popular song was Cherry Pie, although I never did understand the video and what that all meant. Anyways, I always hated Cherry Pie and Heaven but Uncle Tom's Cabin...damn, that's an '80's big hair band top ten song right there.
  12. Wilbur had mentioned this previously - if there was enough interest, I would contact the Hogg and have them put an order together. What's the preference? Short sleeve? Long sleeve? White? Green? Black? "Hoggsbreath International Nite Club" logo or the wild boar logo? "SiouxSports.com Brunch Club" on the back? If I had a minimum number of 12 of one style and color, the Hogg will have them made up and I can sell them for cost.
  13. Were you reading the doom and gloom on this site before the recently-ended unbeaten streak?
  14. Jani was kicked out of Warrant for good in 2008 due to his alcohol problems. Bobbie Brown's looking a little rough these days too.
  15. Of course you do, Mariucci. If the 2017 regional is in St Paul and the Sioux or Michigan go 30-0 in the regular season and conference tournament play, they might STILL have to beat a 20-10 Gopher team in front of 10,000-12,000 Gopher fans just to GET to the Frozen Four. And since the X is a venue that continues to bid on regionals and be awarded them almost every other year it seems, that increases Minnesota's chances of making the Frozen Four exponentially. My theory? If Alaska-Anchorage goes 25-5 in the regular season and is ranked #1 in the country, why shouldn't they be rewarded with another 2-3 home games for the right to go to the Frozen Four? Can you imagine the NFL or NHL running things this way? Great job on the Presidents Trophy, Bruins. Now because a site was pre-selected four years ago, you now need to win a playoff game against Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh in order to advance on in the playoffs. Good luck!
  16. Yes, UND was a number one seed. It was considered by many to be a monumental upset by Michigan. I was there...it was a joke that UND had to play Michigan at Yost. There were PLENTY of rule changes enacted after that travesty including no home team logos on the ice (with the exception of the hosting school logo), no "alternate jersey," the lower seed must use visiting locker rooms even if its their home rink...I am sure I am missing a few.
  17. Cue Pedro Cerrano: Fuzzy hats...keep head warm...thanks.
  18. Thanks, Oxbow6. You always know how to brighten my day!
  19. Motley Crue is calling it a career after their next world tour finishes. I haven't been this depressed since Scott Weiland was fired by the rest of Stone Temple Pilots.
  20. Throw in a good snow day like today, smokey, and that four hour drive from Bemidji to St Paul could easily be 6-10 hours long. I just talked with someone who had a nice three hour commute this morning - from St Paul to Eagan!
  21. JUST KIDDING, YaneA! pink: Amber, Audrey, Whitley grey: Arlyn, Jake
  22. Atlanta: 2 inches of snow paralyzes traffic Minneapolis/St paul: 2 inches of snow paralyzes traffic I guess we aren't that different after all!
  23. I think Saturday's the way to go with the two-day format and most folks from out-of-town probably arriving Friday morning/early afternoon and headed right to the Target Center for the first semi-final game. Let's let everyone get their bearings straight and keep the brunch on Saturday the 22nd at 11:00 am. With the 3rd place game being at 3:30 pm that afternoon, there will be some extra time to kick back, relax, share some fan and moniker introductions, and tell some of our favorite Sioux hockey stories (please please please let Wilbur's dad make it). Previous years' 3rd place games were at 2:00 pm - now folks won't have to eat and sprint out of the Hoggsbreath by 12:30-1:00 pm in order to get to downtown St Paul. I don't know if we can ever top last year's brunch head-count, but we'll try...pass the word along - would be fun to see some St Cloud fans, UMD fans, and Miami fans who lurk around the board make an appearance. Maybe if I keep hyping this thing...if I call it the North Star Challenge Cup of brunches, would that help? Last year's door prizes will be difficult to top this year - if you have any ideas or wish to contribute something, please PM me and we'll talk. Thank you!
