Yea, here was the article I had seen on the Slovak team. The Czechs and Slovaks have a very proud history together - kind of strange seeing them as two different countries.
I think only true hockey fans have any real knowledge as to how many countries had players, coaches, and staff on that plane. It was strange not seeing Pavol Demitra out there in the ice this past week in Sochi.
Herb Brooks must have rolled over in his grave today at that performance. Look at the pride that Selanne had on his face as he skated around with the bronze medal around his neck. I think that was his 3rd bronze to go along with 1 silver, if memory serves me right. THAT is the stuff of legends and national memories. This young USA team should take some notes on his Olympic career.
Let's go Sioux! Big points are there for the taking tonight. No annual let-down either...I'm predicting 4-2 good guys - along with a road version of the traditional circle of sticks!
Also envisioning Jonathan Toews let Patrick Kane polish up his two Stanley Cup rings and two Olympic gold medals...while he listens to Patrick ramble on about the greatest player he's ever played with, Phil Kessel...
"They played like they had somethin' to win..."
I'm trying to picture Crosby retaining his "C" after uttering that statement following a Sweden victory over Canada tomorrow...
