Should be a great weekend of hockey as both coaches are fighting for their jobs early on in the season - Mike Eaves' group stands at 0-4 while Hakstol's team sports an equally disappointing 5-1-1 mark. Anything less than a sweep by either team could result in a head coach being fired on Monday morning or at the very least, their fan website crashing. Drop the puck!

What does 2009 have to do with 2013? Vokoun basically played every game after game #4 of the 2013 quarterfinal series with the Islanders. Given how poorly Fleury had been playing, it's a stretch to assume that the Penguins were going to advance to the conference finals no matter which goalie played. Had that been the case, Bylsma wouldn't have made the switch in the all-important game #5 of a 2-2 series with the Islanders.

In 2008 and 2009, a certain school in Texas went 4-8 and 4-8. In the same two seasons, another school in Texas finished 12-1 and 13-1. By the end of the 2013 season, just four years later, one of those schools would have a Heisman Trophy winner added to its list of accomplishments and the other one would force its coach to resign in lieu of being fired. This season, one of those schools is 7-1 while the other is 4-5. Obviously, its Baylor who must be currently operating under a new coach and struggling with a 4-5 record, right? And Texas must have another Heisman sitting in its trophy case while rolling along at 7-1. Right? How does that saying go again, Sicatoka? "How things are today is how they'll always be"? Yea, I think that's it.

There's also quite a bit of resentment over the special treatment Notre Dame is getting in the conference with their NBCSN TV deal.

Wow! I know there was quite a bit of opposition to UConn joining Hockey East - talk about a signature win for the program.
