  1. 2014 Florida Gators schedule and results: Eastern Michigan 65-0 W Kentucky 36-30 W @ Alabama 42-21 L @ Tennessee 10-9 W LSU 30-27 L Missouri 42-13 L Georgia (neutral site) 38-20 W @ Vanderbilt 34-10 W South Carolina 23-20 L Eastern Kentucky 52-3 W @ FSU 24-19 L I'm not sure what about that schedule is so nasty. Outside of Florida State, their non-conference opponents were awful. As for Georgia, a 10-3 team certainly can't look terrible one week and awesome the next week, can it? 2014 Georgia Bulldogs schedule and results: Clemson 45-21 W @ South Carolina 38-35 L Troy 66-0 W Tennessee 35-32 W Vanderbilt 44-17 W @ Missouri 34-0 W @ Arkansas 45-32 W Florida (neutral site) 38-20 L @ Kentucky 63-31 W Auburn 34-7 W Charleston Southern 55-9 W Georgia Tech 30-24 L Belk Bowl: Louisville 37-14 W Pretty impressive, outside of the 3 hiccups. The South Carolina game I can see as the Gamecocks were coming off a home thrashing at the hands of Texas A&M and the Georgia Tech game can happen. The loss this season to the Gators was simply stunning to me.
  2. Hey, Oxbow, has gfhockey gotten ahold of your account? Too bad teams? Pittsburg? "Has anyone seen Dalton play a playoff game before?" I'll see your Andy Dalton and raise you a Tony Romo big game performance. 0-3 with a playoff berth on the line and 1-3 in playoff games. Make that 1-4. Detroit goes into Dallas and shocks the world. Lions win. Everyone's doubted the Cardinals all season. How many games would Green Bay win playing the guys that St Louis has at QB? Probably 5 out of 16. Cardinals over Panthers. Pittsburgh over Baltimore. Because when I hear the words "Baltimore" and "football," I still think "Colts," that's why. Go Steelers. Indianapolis over Bengals. How can you bet against a guy with the last name "Luck"?

  4. Way to cherry-pick their Super Bowl - a game they played knowing it was their coach's last too. You forgot to mention the 42-13 home beatdown at the hands of Missouri and the 42-21 thumping against the Crimson Tide. Absolutely no excuse for Georgia to give up 38 points to a team that attempted all of 3 passes in their first game after being shellacked by the Tigers. Georgia should have been better prepared for the game with Florida. Period. By comparison, was Michigan a decent 5-7 team because they hung tough with Ohio State for 3 quarters?
  5. A little late to the party for sure, but did anyone else see the crazy end to last night's Florida State vs Florida game? The Seminoles win on a buzzer-beater tap-in of an airballed 3-point attempt - but the tap-in was an unfortunate miscue by one of the GATORS who was completely alone under the basket. Somehow he managed to deflect the ball with his fingertips off the glass and thru the hoop. Crunchers for everyone when we get back to Gainesville, boys...
  6. Place your bets! New England will NOT win this weekend.
  7. Caught a snippet of sports radio on 100.3 in Minn/St P - don't ever listen to the evening show so couldn't even tell you who the booth schmucks were, but the guest was Gopher AD Norwood Teague. Comments about women's basketball centered around why Minnesota is wasting time playing North Dakota. Booth guys wanted this year's game bought out. Diidn't really go into detail beyond saying that.
  8. Miami's 'U' and Sebastian the Ibis are easily two of the most instantly-recognized brands of college football. Pure genius.
  9. Georgia puts a smackdown on Louisville...3 point loss to South Carolina, 6 point loss to Georgia Tech...inexplicable 18 point loss to a bad Florida team...10-3 is a good record, but oh, what could have been for this year's Bulldogs.
  10. Switzerland has to play Sweden and Russia will match up against the Czechs in pool play. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think if those games play out as expected, Denmark will advance to the medal round and the Czech Republic will be shipped off to the relegation round.
  11. Yay Denmark! Shoot-outs still suck.
  12. I wonder how the Bayou Bengal faithful will react next season if Les Miles has another 4 or 5 loss year...he might be wishing he'd taken the job in Ann Arbor.
  13. Well, next game, Detroit has the potential to make it two out of four. Milan Lucic, however, will still be ugly.
  14. http://m.muredhawks.com/mobile/ViewArticle.dbml?ATCLID=209825296&db_oem_id=26100 Miami's version doesn't mention the controversy either...
  15. Merry Christmas, Ann Arbor!
  16. ...and I'd bet the NCAA bigwigs think that too.
  17. Can't say enough about Cole Stoudt's performance against Oklahoma last night...2 TD's and 10 INT's coming into the game. Most folks thinking Sooners in a blowout. Stoudt throws 3 TD passes and rushes for 1 more in a huge Toger win. In an era where few QB's sit on the bench for three years and then get replaced as a starter early in what is supposed to be "their" year, it's nice to see Cole go out with this performance. Side note: Cole's father is Cliff Stoudt, 3-time Super Bowl winner as back-up QB of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
  18. Big tournament win for the Soo Lakers...hopefully this is a step in the direction of turning around that once-proud program.
  19. Nope, 3-0. South Carolina over Miami...Texas A&M over West Virginia...Arkansas over Texas.
  20. http://www.und.com/sports/m-hockey/recaps/122814aaa.html Granted, that's Notre Dame's take on the story...but doesn't sound that unusual.
  21. "Good night ladies and gentlemen!"
  22. I'm not going to defend Suh's past - if you want to suspend him for the first five games of next season, go right ahead, but to penalize the team as they head to the playoffs? Unprecedented. Let's not forget, this is the same league that dilly-dallied on suspensions for players who beat women, yet somehow managed to hand out swift punishment for this incident. BTW, Rodgers gets up and gives Suh a slight shove while his two linemen look back and don't condront Suh at all over what happened. Way to stick up for the QB, guys!
  23. ...and that 2008 title should be marked with an asterisk as that's the year Tom Brady was hurt in the 1st quarter of the 1st game of the season and missed the rest of the year. The Patriots STILL went 11-5 and tied with the Dolphins at the top (but lost by tie-breaker rule, obviously).
  24. Speaking of Bob Stoops, if THAT'S what $5.1 million a year gets you, I'd gladly offer Jim Harbaugh $8 million. Charlie Strong makes $5 million a season at Texas.
