Teams in basketball don't host playoff games, they are at a neutral site. Like the Summit is in SIOUX Falls. And the only playoff men's hockey at the Ralph are the best of 3 in which the winner goes to the WCHA Final Five. So actually the REA is not missing out on a lot of playoffs.

Just pretend its the Fargodome and beat the Vandals.

The problem with the SL Sioux is that if another tribal council comes along say in 5 or 6 years and vote to retire the name..its over according to the settlement.

The first paragraph of the settlement says all native american references and images cannot be displayed at championship events. So no Spirit Lake Sioux or anything about NA and even if we did get their permission, we could have to get at least 30+ year contract on that or else their tribal council could vote against the name, and the board and the school is NOT going to go through this crap every year their is a tribal change.

NO!! If we can't be the Fighting Sioux and keep the logo then no more Native American names or logo. I am going through this all the time.

Chairman Charles Murphy told a group of nickname supporters that his resolution would be put to the council for an up or down vote, pending certification of signatures on a petition they had presented earlier this year calling for a popular vote on the issue. So they could still tell the people of SR your vote doesn't matter. I wonder what will happen.

No according to the settlement. Nov. 30th 2010 is when the Sioux need 2 Sioux tribal approvals. No 30 year contract or any crap the SBoHE tacked on, and its not arbitrary.

This issue is not over yet, and i have a feeling the tribe cannot risk not letting the people not vote. It would be political suicide. And if they do vote and approve the name what would this do to Kelley and the SBoHE. Boy did they ever jump the gun. Oh and the offical timeline ends in under 6 months (11-30-2010)

Inncorrect!!! Just the approval is all that is needed to satisfy the NCAA settlement...the 30 year deal is what the SBoHE made up.

So what happens if the SR comes back with a supportive vote. Will the SBoHE be quick to call the licensing company and tell them to resume making the logo. The board will look more and more stupid than they already are.

I think this would be a no brainer (talking for only football) for UND and USD since the GWFC has no auto bid. If it came to basketball I think this would be great for UND since Douple has it out to kill the Sioux name. If UND had the choice BSC or Summit...easy take the BSC!!
