I would think with the oil boom and the population shift to the west I would think our recruits would be more western ND and westward and not so much MN-WI and eastward.

Summit needs 2 losses of teams from 2012-2014 to lose AQ status...whats the chance UMKC joins the MVC and same with Western Illinois? They fit perfectly geographically.

Then change Devils Lake HS to the Fighting Sioux and use the logo. I know people didn't like it when they went from Satans to Firebirds or whatever the hell it is now.

Thats okay Lakes is over on AGS saying NDSU needs to move to the MVC for better competition and so NDSU can dominate that mid major conference. I know typical Lakes..too bad I mentioned NDSU hasn't had a winning record in the SUMMIT since 2008-09 (the Dance season). 11-18, and 14-15 the last 2 seasons, and dominate the MVC. :lol:

Between 2012-2014 if the Sumitt loses just 2 members before 2015 and don't replace them with non transitioning teams then the Summit will lose their status as an auto-bid conference. The rule is 7 members and in 2012 they will have 8 (UNO is not counted until their transition is over in 2015). Better hope teams out east stay put like Oakland, IUPUI, and IPFW stays put. We all would hate to see USD win the conference and not be dancing...NDSU we could care less.

Which I don't see the logic in West Fargo. They would rather overcrowd the school and jepordize education than cut up their sports teams among 2 schools. Very sad!! I know people that have kids at WF and they say it is just horrible for the overcrowding. On a side note, I was mad when they built Davies because all they needed to do was redraw the line. Fargo North is losing kids so some kids at South could've easily went to North but instead they built another school out in the middle of a field. Makes sense....NOT!

Because they are used to FS being top of the sports world in Fargo...now that has shifted, thats what they fear when West Fargo builds their 2nd high school.

Add the Dakota 3 and 1 more(Utah Valley?) you can have 2- 7 team divisions.

We need a win to get the confidence in the players back or else we may lose the last 3 games...yes 3 (that includes Sioux Falls).

They tried to but it wouldn't work out in the NCAA's schedule.

I love the name and love the logo..but I do agree 100% with your post. Its sad the REA would have to remove logos to be PC with the NCAA but thats life. UND will live on with or without the nickname. If UND can't use the REA they could use Purper or Scheels Arena in Fargo and as for basketball they could use the Alerus. Hopefully the NCAA will change their minds when they tour the REA but I am not holding my breath. Again what good is a name without a sports team to use it.

I think the SL wants the logo but isn't Brien a Chippewa...I would think an outcry in Belcourt would be on the horizon.

I just don't get why the MVC can't just swallow up the MVFC teams, then have the remaining ones enter conferences close to them (ex. Horizon), and leave the startup teams (St. Cloud, Mankato if they choose) to the Great West. But I guess thats the NCAA for you. Some things are not supposed to make sense.

I don't see how we left the Summit on poor terms...we told them we are cancelling the on-site visit because we got accepted into the BSC. Its not like we wasted their time by flying them up and then doing the tour and at the end saying oh by the way we choose Big Sky bye bye. This guy is an idiot.

Is it not NDSU fans that rip on UND playing teams in the same division at St. Cloud and Mankato? Yes it was too bad ND went east instead of our conference, and we were stuck with St. Cloud, but I thought going DI NDSU and SDSU wanted to get "away" from teams like Omaha and St. Cloud, and now one is in the Summit because UNL won't let them have football (thanks to Trev Alberts), and the other is in the NSIC. You lost a team that danced 3 times in the last 6 years and would replace that team with Mankato or St. Cloud?? Omaha is replacing SUU...don't you see that your conference is going to be the worst in basketball since its not a basketball rich conference. SUU, IUPUI, ORU, NDSU, and Oakland are the only current members to ever "dance" from the Summit. Now you lose 2 of them. Replaced by Omaha so far. I have nothing against the NCC it was the best in DII (IMO!!) but that was DII this is DI. There is only 1 positive thing the Summit has going for them and that is baseball. BSC is the only conference not to sponsor it. They are sponsoring softball effective 2012, but thats where the line is drawn on major sports. I don't know how both stack up to volleyball or track. But in basketball the Big Sky is now clearing going to be better than the Summit..and more stable too.

Thats what most bash UND about for joining the Big Sky..travel costs for the school. No one cares how the average joe gets from Grand Forks to Sacramento or Bozeman, but its how much it costs for UND to go to Sac St or Montana St. That is the major problem I have in looking back and seeing NDSU fans not mentioning travel in 03 but in 2011 its the number one problem that is going to plague UND for joining the Big Sky.

But doesn't UND own the trademark on the logo? So even if this AHL team called them selves the Fighting Sioux...the logo would be owned by UND. So it would be Purper Arena for UND!

You just gained Omaha and now all over BVille schools to replace ORU...St. Cloud and Mankato?? Hockey doesn't matter remember NDSU fan...its a niche sport. You guys dismiss our 7 DI titles so comparing DI basketball to DI hockey isn't the same in your green and gold glasses. Besides UMD won a national title in hockey, St. Cloud has been a member of DI hockey for decades while Omaha has been in DI hockey for years. SCSU, Mankato, and Omaha dropping football to join the Summit...where's Augy, and Morningside. My point is the Summit is turning into nothing more than a GWC with DII teams. I am glad UND is out of that conference. Yes better chance at the dance but getting to the championship against St. Cloud or Omaha?? If you lose..WOW!!!

You must not be able to read he said....ALUMNI not students. UND's alumni is heavy throughout the west.
