Muss has been through a lot with transition (2008-2011), and the nickname issue (2008-2012), now no transition, no nickname issue its all football and only football. Lets see what he does with a non distracting recruiting class and team.

If UND can't fight with the big boys of DI let's drop football or go down to DII. UND is not going to get 11 Idaho State's on the schedule. They have 7 home games which should give us a boost plus a week road schedule ( except NAU), that should give us another advantage. If Muss can only beat the DII teams or almost beat teams then why have him as a coach. IMO this is the year he shows what he is made of and lead this team to a conference title.

The Fargo PD did put camaras downtown so maybe something was caught on tape. We need to get the evidence out there and then throw the book at him or say it was self defense.

Plus Muss had to take a good DII coached team, and transfer that into a good DI team. Transition is tough and he is just building and building. We just need to be patient, but if UND tanks this season with 7 home games and goes roughly 2-9 or 3-8 (like in 2010) then I would consider this team going nowhere and maybe Muss needs to go. 7-4 or better is what I expect this team to do.

If UND gets on a roll early knocking out wins against Valpo, SDSU, UM, MSU, the crowd will increase as the conference title looks promising. Heck the UNC could be a sellout if a title is ours with a win. Lets hope for the best!!

Some people will refer to UND as the Sioux even with a new nickname. Look at Marquette, or Dartmouth they lost their name over 20 years ago and some people still refer to them as Warriors, or Indians.

Actually we can. UND can pick a name if they want, but it can't be used until 2015. So if they want to get the ball rolling they can, the state law says a name cannot be used until 2015.

Kelley had a committee to choose a new name before the whole state law thing came about. I am sure they will go back to that to get all the names on the table and find a way to vote for one. No way can I see the school go nameless longer than 2015. Marketing can't be all that great with just the UND logo and the name North Dakota on jerseys and shirts.

It's something going into a place like Scheels (here in Fargo) and the UND gear has almost taken over the Sioux gear. Very little Sioux gear left and pretty soon it will be all gone. Last Christmas there were lots of Sioux gear but now just a few racks left. I would doubt that by the end of this year Scheels will be gone of the Sioux gear.

It will be interesting to see how the league will be split into two divisions.

As long as its not referenced to Indians the name will be fine. Works for Golden State of the NBA.

Could you imagine the storyline today if we played Oregon to a 0-0 tie (I know with OT there is no ties) but our defense would be a threat to FCS teams.
