  1. As much I’m not a fan of some of his antics, even a situation like Phoenix Sproles has created for himself on TikTok wasn’t possible even 5 years ago. Monetizing your social media and your own brand is outside of NIL, but an example of how the NCAA owned these kids and wouldn’t have allowed this to happen.
  2. Lol
  3. It’s 2024, TV and print advertising isn’t the pinnacle of ad spend. Get on TikTok and learn about collaborative marketing.
  4. You have no idea what you’re talking about. The vast majority of NIL deals are for small amounts of money with athletes signing local advertising deals for a few thousands bucks. The average NIL deal in a study done was under 3k. Prior to the new rules, athletes were held hostage by their scholarship while people make literal billions off of them.(see the study done of the value RG3 brought to Baylor university during his heisman run)
  5. Do you have a full understanding of how restrictive the ncaa was under the prior rules? Do you understand that athletes literally did not own their own name, image and likeness? Would you be ok with someone using your face and/or name to make money off of you without you getting compensated for it? Why are defending one of the more corrupt and inept institutions we have in the US? the NCAA
  6. And this is what would’ve lead to the athletes unionizing if that way continued.
  7. I think the current rule works. These are adults, if they want to leave for a better opportunity they should be allowed to. Separately, if NIL money is involved, I expect some sort of contract situation to get involved moving forward. eg. A portion of your NIL money is vested each year you are on the team or something to that effect.
  8. That’s one way to look at it. Another is treating them like people treat their career. Have you ever left a job for more money? more responsibility? Your own happiness? Your home situation changed? There’s a million valid reasons why a player would want to transfer and their punishment is to lose a year of eligibility? Horribly punitive. Some players will abuse it, just like some employees bail on their employer when they feel like it for a better situation. Why should the player be held hostage at the university?
  9. That’s an incomplete view of the portal. The prior rules held a player hostage. The new rules are too loose. The pendulum will swing back to a more appropriate place, but change was absolutely necessary.
  10. Maybe. Not every situation is the same. The world has changed. Imagine if Joe Burrow or Quinn Ewers had been “loyal”. Burrow would’ve been a high school coach somewhere making 60k/year.
  11. 1.2 mil I heard. Loyalty is one thing, but 1.2 million in your pocket at age 22 is life changing. Especially for a guy that isn’t guaranteed to make nfl money. Hate to tell a kid not to stay loyal to his teammates, but in this case, I think he should’ve taken the money.
  12. And Tucker Kraft, Isaiah Davis/pierre strong and nfl lineman all around him.
  13. Makes you wonder how talented Gronowski really is when he doesn’t have nfl talent surrounding him at every position.
  14. I would assume they are basing their thoughts on projecting UND at least 2 more losses through the rest of the year.
  15. And my point is the entire FCS is trash outside of a few teams, so there isn’t anyone for them to play to prove they are good. As the old saying goes, you can only beat the teams on your schedule.
  16. This is his schtick? I guess I did fall for it then. Makes sense that his posts are satire now that I read back. No serious person could have their pride hit with such awful takes and then come back for more
  17. If you say so… If you think all of the polls are wrong, where’s your website with your expert analysis and poll to show your expertise?
  18. So in one post you say a 21 point win at the opponent’s stadium is a team being exposed and it’s a blowout and in the next one you say a 24-3 point win was closer than it would indicate. Sounds to me you change the rules based on whether or not NDSU is involved.
  19. There are about 5 good teams in the FCS anymore and NDSU is one of them. All five of those teams are title contenders with sdsu being the favorite
  20. I see more of a 34-24 win for the Jacks. I don’t think SDSU is as strong as they’ve been either this year. Either way, losing to the #1 team in the country isn’t being “exposed”. Being exposed would be losing by double digits to a team much lower than you in the polls.
  21. USD is unproven as a top team to me. They’ve looked good, I agree, but I can’t look at a single win they have that proves they are legit yet.
  22. A 14 point loss is whooped? I guess we’ll just have to agree to have different definitions of that word.
  23. At the risk of repeating myself, define whoop. I see sdsu winning, but I see a 10–14 point win. I don’t see that as a whooping or being “exposed”.
  24. Define what you’ll accept as “exposed” before the game so you don’t move the goal posts afterward.
  25. Your predictions have gone well so far, I’m sure you’re correct on this one too.
