  1. Just thought I'd give everyone an update on the situation with the 957 (the unit Keith and Ken were in).

They returned to the U.S. on Monday of this week and are in Missouri going through out-processing. They were lucky and spent the past month or so in Kuwait away from all of the fighting.

It's definitely great that they are back and safe and we can never forget the 3 brave North Dakotans who lost their lives fighting for our freedom.

  2. For some reason, I have a feeling that Notre Dame will give MN a run for their money. They have a goalie that can play outstanding and control a game and if ND can toss a few behind Briggs, the Gophers could be done in one. I see them as the most likely to lose in the 1st round, however if they make it past ND and UMD and UND, i will only cheer for them to win it for the WCHA, but after that I hate all gophers.

  3. West: UND

    Midwest: UMD

    East: Maine

    NE: UNH

    UND over UMD

    Maine over UNH

    UND over Maine

Actually, I think because UNH is a lower seed than UMD, they would be the #4 seed going into the FF, which would mean UND would play UNH and UMD would play Maine...creating a potential UND v UMD Championship Game.

  4. There is a lot of crying about FoxSports - why no bitterness about Sweeney and his channel 23 crew not airing road games (including the most important road games of the year?) I live in Grand Forks and am amazed that the Sioux are THE show in town (and in the nation for the past 8 years) but can't cut a TV deal locally that willcover road games.

I really suggest you get a clue before you come on here criticizing everyone because you can't see road games. There's a reason for it. 1st...you blame WDAZ and UND for not airing the FF semifinal? UND and WDAZ have absolutely 0 control...thats right NONE. Its the St. Paul Group that controls what games are aired (the X, FSN) with some input from the WCHA. WDAZ legally cannot air the game.

With FSSN, that is the WDAZ crew broadcasting through a different channel, because WDAZ couldn't pre-empt what was coming down through the ABC feed. For the away games to be televised...either WDAZ (a very small television station, that actually is owned by WDAY out of Fargo...so they get very little money for unnecessary production) has to fork over a ton of money and send a production crew (5-10 people minimum...plus gas money for a gas-guzzling truck) or tap into the feed coming out of the arena. Both of these cost money that WDAZ doesn't have.

It was posted in another thread, but UND has more games televised than 8 out of the 10 teams in the WCHA. You should be happy that this many games are televised and quit bitching about things and people who have absolutely no control over what games get aired and which ones don't.

  5. k, i just tried to figure out what it would take for CC to make it

there are so many things that can happen...if CC finishes at least 3rd, then they've got a half decent chance of making it

I really hope UAA wins, just so UND ends up in the west

  6. It'll just make it that much sweeter cheering for the dogs against the stupid, punk, turd, sucking, always getting their way, sissy, nerdy permed, piss colored jersey, rodents, furballs, varmint gophers.

Duluth was up 5-1 and now lead 6-4....its not a given that UMD will win their series vs Mankato

  7. There is no feed being sent out...they will be doing an in-house camera setup, but otherwise there is no way for outsiders to see the game.

I just sent an email to Bruce McLeod, the WCHA Commisioner and I suggest everyone do the same: bmcleod@du.edu

This pisses me off, I'm not going to be able to watch the Sioux play...gj to the Western Gophers Hockey Association. :glare:

  8. They haven't updated the PWR rankings yet...but this could drop both BC and Maine from the tie for the top spot. It brings down BC, because they lost to an unranked team and that then lowers Maine's strength of schedule for the games they played vs BC, which could drop them just enough to leave UND at number 1.

  9. Sports and high schools in general have turned into little places where people are too worried about protecting a students "rights" than teching them. For me, high school wasn't fun, but it was something everybody should go through. It would have sucked 100 times more had there been special rules in place to protect students.

I see minnesota is thinking of added a bill that makes bullying illegal and a punishable offense. Get a clue guys, bullying is part of growing up, you cant just punish kids for being kids. "everyone gather around and hug, because thats what kids are supposed to do." Let kids be kids, throw dodgeballs, get their asses handed to them in hockey. Don't impose rules and sanctions to try and make it fair for everyone, because no matter how much you try and screw with the system, some kids are just better at things than others.

  10. there is absolutely no reason at all for that in hockey, or any sport

I didn't see the hit in question before that they were refering to, and i understand some form of retaliation, but that is not kosher at all

suspension for the rest of the year + possible legal issues

  11. Fan behavior was a major subject at the NCAA convention in Nashville last month. Notice how this comes up now at UND, Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, etc., right after that convention?

You can blame Dr. Kupchella. He's just the messenger, as is Roger Thomas.

Dr. Miles Brand, president of the NCAA, is the guy you want to talk to.

We're not blaming people per say, we're pissed at Kupchella at the way he messengered it. RT chose a professional way to tell the students, while CK just went off on us, without giving us any positive feedback.

  12. of course it is over. The Sioux are obviously destined to lose every game for the rest of the year. I mean seriously, they obviously over-achieved and only played a bunch of cupcakes the first part of the year. Now that they're playing quality competition, its really hard to win. Lets just all throw in the towel and start talking about next year. What's that you say? They will swoon again next year, ok well then how about 2006. I'm so looking forward to that season, should be a good one. I just cant wait until they get this losing out of the way already and hand the Gophers the trophy for the next 2 years, so we can all get back to hanging out on the bandwagon. :)

  13. Anyone who doesn't, doesn't know their head from their A**!

Personally, I really enjoy being able to go to the Ralph in my sweater and chatting it up with some old chaps I know. I mean really, its not like there's anything else going on, might as well just pay a bunch of money to go and hang out with friends and chat. This one time, I looked down and there were these guys skating around, but I didn't really pay much attention, I was too busy admiring my friends manicure and facial she got. She looks so much better since getting liposuction. Also, every now and then they play this god awful music and one or two people start clapping. I don't really know what that is, but they should stop, it disturbs me when I'm trying to plan when my old chaps and I are going for a round of golf.
