Likens from Wisc with a cheap shot a second after the horn. Looks like we have found our new swooner with Dahl gone.
scsu has still lost (hopefully with a tech win tonight) 3 of their last 4 to some traditional bottom feeders. it's just disappointing UND didnt start the swoon for them.

mankato just beat wisco 7-3. mankato with four awesome straight wins. i just hope we don't play them in the first round of the playoffs.

i'm at work and i was actually away from my desk and working, but i was still able to hear it.
i went over to my desk and updated siouxsports and suddenly on the radio they scored the 1st goal.
then two minutes ago i was away from my desk, just came over and updated and two seconds later chorney scores.
i'll be back in about 30 seconds.

Apples and oranges. At this point in his career, Oshie has not sexually assaulted a minor girl and taken a run at a player after the whistle and drove him into the boards putting his career and the ability to lead a normal life at great risk.
so what you're saying is that because of paukovich's past, he deserves everything he gets until he can't play hockey anymore? how does that make anything better?
does matt greene deserve to be hacked and cheapshotted until he can't play anymore, because he got a dui? he was putting hundreds of people's lives at risk when he drove the car drunk. or does that not count because it wasn't on the ice? well then what about the full speed elbow to the head of the scsu player a couple years ago. surely, an elbow to your head could put that persons life at risk... so should matt be pummeled until he can't play?
all i'm saying is that the paukovich stuff needs to be let go. he's a kid. he makes mistakes. he's made some cheap shots on the ice, but how long will the retaliating go on for? how long is it ok to rack him in the balls for?

I gather that the game will be on channel 23 again tonight at 807 pm. That is what the Herald said today.
talking to the hearld reporter... he said it's the same deal as last night. he didn't know that cities outside of gf got the game, so he assumes that we'll be able to get it tonight in fargo and other fssn areas too.

Anybody know if the game will be on at any local establishments in Fargo?
If Sensors can show it in the cities, why can't someone in Fargo show it?
from what i've heard, the game will be on the fighting sioux sports network again tonight. that means, anywhere in fargo should be able to get it. if it's not on fssn, then go to buffalo wild wings or playmakers. they'll have it.. just ask them to tune into fox sports net rocky mountain or fox college sports-central.

quick update from what i've heard from a reliable source:
sioux are looking to bring in darcy zajac next year to keep travis here at least a year.
sioux are fighting for theissen really hard. sioux would be willing to bring him in next year if jpar goes pro.
jordan willert has been talking to UND a lot and it seems like UND is his front runner.
jake marto could be asked to stay in the ushl for one more year, because even if smaby goes pro, with chay genoway coming and bina probably coming back, the d would be full. even alexander may not get much playing time.
sioux and mankato are the two schools going hardest for marvin. rumors have it he's leaning towards UND.

i'd imagine it's because you dont want to start teaching kids to be stabbing at pucks that are high. despite helmets, you can still get caught across the neck, or the stick could get up under the facemask.

So what exactly will happen if we are labeled cheap and dirty? Is the WCHA gonna take away our birthdays? There are two teams in the WCHA that are not labeled by others as cheap and/or dirty: Alaska and Michigan Tech. And that's because they are not perennial threats. I was at the game at the X and actually saw Bina get hit while most were too busy stuffing their faces with footlongs and nachos and trying to dance along with the dork on the jumbotron, and I have nothing but respect for anyone on our team that goes after anyone on Denver's team. And the people from WI and MN share the same respect (but just don't go after their players).
I guess you and I have a different view of who is cheap and dirty in the league. CC, UMD, Tech, and AA are all relatively clean teams. For the most part, Wisconsin is a clean team... and as much as it pains me, except for a few players, the Gophers are a clean team. There's a difference between being a dirty team and just being a rival. I think most fans (sioux and otherwise) are able to separate the two. I hate the Gophers a ton, but they don't go out there and goon it up. SCSU, Mankato, and Denver are some of the teams who you can guarantee it will get chippy.
I want all fans around the league to know that if you go to UND, you're not going to get cheap shotted all game, you're not going to have some of your players go down because of prpich taking a swipe at you. I want them to know that if you go to UND, your players are going to get hurt because of the types of hitting we saw last year. Hard hitting, in your face, but clean is the way UND has always been. Let's not become a DU, Mankato or St. Cloud.

You might need to explain yourself a little better since I was applading the Sioux winning last night and I also said it was the first concern for UND. Your logic is flawed because none of us want to endure a another Paukovich cheap shot like the one on TJ Oshie, another player might end up in the hospitial. Notice all of the players Punkovich hits are smaller players not anyone like Smaby or Finely, the kid is a gultess punk and as long as he plays in this league UND fans will be concerned every time he hits the ice. Also, fans can lose focus because we are not playing the hockey game. Ohhh, your a good fan because your in focus. Focus for what. Some people can't even see the ice because they are so drunk.
So by Prpich sticking that piece of $#!t in the nuts last night probably did more good than bad. It reminded Punkovich that we are still out there and makes him think twice about cheaping another Sioux player. Hockey is a game of intimidation and if you disagree with that statement you have your head in the sand. Smaby's hit on Carle last night was a perfect illustration of that.
The shot by Prpich didn't make Paukovich think twice about cheaping another Sioux player. He took out Oshie AFTER prpich tapped him. For all we know maybe Paukovich was "retaliating" for Prpich's hit by taking out Oshie. It's a never ending cycle... unless it stops now. Paukovich is a cheap player, but let's let the league (hopefully they can handle it) take care of him and his cheapness, rather than lose one of our good players.

the w for UND puts the sioux into 11th in the pwr. denver drops to 16 and is still out of the playoffs. win tomorrow night and we're in excellent position to make the ncaas.

I think it was a cheap play as well.
However, I don't think it was that hard of a spear. Plus, Paukovitch should be wearing a cup which would deflect the stick. What I'm saying is that it was no where near as cheap as the hit Paukovitch put on Bina.
EDIT: Don't take me the wrong way, though. Prpich should not have done that and it does make the team as a whole look dirty and cheap.
I agree it wasn't that hard of a spear, but it's a spear none-the less. And in no way am I comparing it to the hit on Bina. But are Sioux fans going to continue to want retaliation for the infamous hit until Paukovich is in a wheelchair?

I'm sure a lot of people will disagree with me, but I think the spear by Prpich was cheap, unneccessary, and he should be benched by Hakstol for tomorrow night's game.
I hate paukovich and denver as much as the next guy, but there is no need for that. Just like paukovich's hit on bina looked bad on all of DU (im not comparing the actual damage each caused), things like this look badly on all of UND.
I'd love to see Paikovich get his, but it's gotta be legal. Let Smaby or Finley grop him with an amazing open-ice hit, but Prpich made an unnecessary, dumb play.
Do people agree or do people hate Paukovich so much that they don't care how it happens?

whoa.. just saw the replay, looks like a sioux player speared paukovich. i hate the guy as much as anyone, but this is sioux hockey. we don't need to play to their level. prpich makes the entire school look bad. i hope hakstol benches him for the rest of the weekend.

i agree w/ tv announcers in that kaip deserved a 2 min there too, but the du guy should have gotten 4 in that case.
