  1. Not to hijack... but is GPL permanently down, or is it standard site issues? I was trying to find out information on the Mankato suspensions and haven't been able to get on the site today...

bandwagon gopher fans are using all of the site's bandwith. it happens a lot when the gophers win at least 3 games in a row. :silly:

  2. Hockey Mom,

I'm with you. At least have the decency to tell people what it was for. If it was that bad people would probably understand why she was cut. I have to believe that there was a reason but the question is weather it was bad enough to send her packing.

If it was Parise, SOMEBODY WOULD HAVE TO ANSWER the question. I guess that women's hockey can get away with it and not have to answer the question.

The other thing that seems odd to me was the 3rd Goalie played against Wisc. If she hadn't played all year it wouldn't make sense to burn a year of eligibility for one period. That seems very questionable, unless I'm misinformed.

To redshirt a year, you have to have notified the NCAA early in the season. I'm assuming that she hadn't, and thus whether she played or not didn't matter towards losing a year of eligibility... she had already lost it.

Also, just ask gopher men's hockey fans what they think about penalties being made public. With all of the bar/underage/booster stuff going on, it seems like fans should never be allowed to know why a player was suspended/cut.

  3. I don't have the link but this was brought up earlier in the thread. UND probably gets a 4 seed and the Gopehers get shipped out east. That would be a nightmare senario for the overall 3 or 4 seed.

I wouldn't be as scared if UND dropped to a 4 seed were I the number 1 ranked team in the regional. If UND gets beat 2 out of 3 to Mankato at home, how scary can they be? Sure it's a one and done format, but if UND can't beat the 7th seed in the WCHA, can they really beat a 1 seed in the NCAA?

  4. Hypothetical, but what happens if Wisco gets swept by Tech? Do they drop enough that they become a 2 seed? Does that then mean that MN gets sent to Green Bay, because it's closer? That could give UND a home-ice regional with most likely the easiest trip to the Frozen Four.

edit: i guess wisco doesn't have to drop to a 2 seed. they could get sent west too, which wouldn't be the worst thing in the world assuming elliott plays like he did vs makato.

  5. And by the way, if Oshie would've faced the defensive attention that Kessel has this year there's no way he'd have the numbers he has.

It seems that when kessel faces any type of defensive attention (anything not 5v4), then he pretty much is even with oshie. I can't help but notice that when the Gophers PP goes just 1-7 against a bottom feeder, kessel doesn't get any points. It must be that extra defensive attention he got. Either that or when the Gophers bread and butter drops, so does kessel's "impact."

  6. I think it's only the fourth year of the team's existence. I think next year we will be a lot better than this year. I think once we have the same number of scholarships as our opponents, we will be able to compete more. I think people who criticize the coaching and the team have no idea how tough it is to start an NCAA team and have fans expect you to dominate right out of the gate.

  7. Exactly where I was going. For example, now that you all think I'm a bison homer, I will use them as an example...

SDSU is ramping up their schollies, albeit not quite as fast as NDSU is. However, SDSU has played some big name I-AA teams tough. Montana and Georgia Southern come to mind. I think that UND could beat SDSU if UND played a great game. The reality is that SDSU would most likely beat UND 7 of 10 times. Do not fall into the trap that SDSU or NDSU are the same division 2 teams that you are used to. Things have changed and I think that you may be unpleasantly surprised if you played either right now.

    1) ndsu has 25 more schollies and they've been building depth for 3 yrs now. Like it or not, it makes a difference. For example, Digger Anderson is a fantastic LB. The Bison's Joe Mays (#8) would knock him silly. Mays has 20 lbs on Digger and has a .3 faster 40 time. There's a difference there. Plus, NDSU has 2 more guys just like Joe waiting in the wings.

    2) ndsu has new coaches, a new (big-time committed AD), and a fully-sown philosophy that they are in fact going to the next level, no half-assing here

    3) the playoff-ineligibility window is closing and next season they are eligible. They also have Georgia outhern nd Montana State coming to the FargoDome next season. Attendance is up 3-4k over last year alone. Right now, UND cannot touch that. Yes, UND won 10 of 13 but if they played tomorrow I think UND would find out that it's more than resting on your laurels. Bison are a better program right now. Period. If NDSU won't play then why not go out and schedule Montana or Eastern Washington or Georgia Southern or App State? That would quickly tell you how deep (or shallow) the I-AA waters are.....why are you waiting?

why didnt you just title the thread "let me tell you all about ndsu and how they will dominate d1-aa"

  8. i could be wrong... but i thought a team can't drop in it's pwr by beating a weaker opponent in a conference tournament. it was one of those things added after a couple teams several years ago would have potentially dropped out of the NCAA tourney by sweeping their home series of the playoffs.

so even if UND plays mankato, i don't think it matters if the drop out as a tuc, because UND can't drop anyway.

  9. I've started making Sioux Jerseys for NHL 2006 on computer. I've got the green one done and am working on the black and white ones. My friend suggested I make jerseys for all 10 teams in the league. It takes about half an hour per jersey, so I was curious if anyone else knew how to do them, or if anyone here as extensive experience with photoshop and would be willing to help.

I'll post the picture of the green one in-game after i make a couple adjustments. Thanks,

  10. Two of the most idiotic and ridiculous things I have ever read on any internet hockey board have occurred in this thread:

    1. Congratulations, you have brought Geoff out of hibernation.

    2. What if someone wants to fight Paukovich and loses?

ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Never have I seen such pu$$y, loser, gutless, spineless, weasel talk anywhere.

The posters who said these things should hang out on some NHL boards and try to spew that crap. You'd get laughed out of existence.

Have you guys ever heard of the concept of standing up for your teammates?

    LOL!!!!!!! Cracking me up.

College hockey is not the NHL. Different rules, different ways of handling things.

  11. What is not similar ? A CFB which for the most part is an illegal (bad or dirty or cheap) hit. Someone giving you a nutter which is essentially a bad, cheap, dirty, illegal, or insert your own adjective, hit. One is not less of an infraction than the other in the grand scheme of things. They are both uncalled for, they can both inflict serious injury. The bottom line is that punkobith is a cheap, classless, no-talent, turd. He is not the victim. He brings on this attention by his actions.

so you'll agree that prpich is a cheap, classless, no-talen turd? and toews too? cause he made an illegal trip. what about oshie, smaby, lee, and every sioux player who has ever done anything illegal during the game. even the holy one spirko is apparently a cheap, classless no-talent turd because he cheated.

  12. That's ok. If I were a #1 seed, I wouldn't want to face BSU anyways. If Alabama comes to town, you HAVE to like your chances. I mean, it's like the Holy Cross vs UND matchup a few years back or the Mercyhurst vs. Minnesota matchup back in 2002 I think...

No #1 leaves the arena after the game is over with less than a 3 goal lead. Could you imagine Minnesota vs UAH? I'd project at least a 6-1 final score with 10 minutes of the third period spent just playing keep away.

they dont have to catch alabama hunstville... they just have to beat them in one game (the CHA championship game.) Neither UAH or Bemidji will get into the NCAA's by their record, they have to do it by winning the CHA Tournament. If history is any indication as to who that will be, I'd like to see Bemidji come to the Ralph. I consider them the UND of the CHA.

  13. i'm excited to see who that CHA team is. If Bemidji shows up, I think they have a legitimate shot as anyone to upset the Gophers. If it was a three, five, or seven game series the Gophers would take it easy, but because it's just one game... the Beavers could do what they almost did to Denver last year. They always seem to play WCHA teams tough, so you just never know.

  14. i definitely wouldnt want the sioux to face the gophers in the regional. why have the gophers get humiliated on just a regional scale, when it could be done on national tv :silly:

actually, the gophers are scary to me. they can be beat, but i'd rather take the easier road to the frozen four. plus, i've got tickets to the frozen four, so i want to see the sioux there... and i think there's a better chance w/o the gophers at the REA.

  15. The only forward that may displace Toews would be Raymond from UMD. But they appear to be going in different directions right now, as Toews has caught fire and Raymond has cooled off significantly.

I wouldn't be suprised to see the trio of Kessel, Toews, and Oshie as the 3 forwards on the Rookie Team.

what do you think about d then? I'd think Lee or Chorney have to get one of the spots on the rookie team. They certainly can't have both (I haven't kept track of how other Rookie D around the league are doing), but it'd be pretty amazing to have two forwards and two d-men on the rookie team.

edit: I did a little looking up and here's the Conference D scoring for rookies:

    Name School GP PPG G-A-TP

    Chris Butler Denver 24 0.71 6-11-17

    Brian Lee UND 26 0.46 1-11-12

    Shane Lovdahl UAA 24 0.42 3- 7-10

    Taylor Chorney UND 26 0.38 3- 7-10

    Brian Kilburg MSUM 22 0.41 1- 8- 9

    Josh Meyers UMD 17 0.47 2- 6- 8

    Jason Garrison UMD 26 0.31 1- 7- 8

  16. Here's a quick overview of the points each player has gotten... i put in two sioux players because it's a sioux msg board. Points are WCHA only-

    Kessel:

    5v5 PP SH

    Goals 3 8 1

    Assists 9 11 0

    ---------------------------------

    Total 12 19 1

    Oshie:

    5v5 PP SH

    Goals 7 5 0

    Assists 4 6 0

    -----------------------------------

    Total 11 11 0

    Toews:

    5v5 PP SH

    Goals 6 6 0

    Assists 4 1 0

    -----------------------------------

    Total 10 7 0

  17. going into the series, a split was expected and i wouldn't feel so bad about it. but after getting the w in the 1st game, a split seems so dissappointing.

games not over yet, but pick it up sioux.
