  1. This week's WCHA overview on USCHO mentions the remaining schedule strength.

North Dakota has the easiest remaining league schedule, while Colorado College has the toughest road left.

That's according to the combined winning percentages of their remaining opponents. North Dakota's remaining opponents have a .455 winning percentage; CC's have a .537 winning percentage.

  2. This has happened a few other times. Game is supposed to be on channel 44. I called Cableone and the lady I spoke to had no idea what FSSN was. When they signed up to be a provider of FSSN, didn't they take on some responsibility to actually air the games?

  3. I'm thinking Nashville or someone like that picked him up. I think he's in the minors.

I was at an Atlanta Thrashers game last week and they had him listed in the program as being in their organization (in the minors).

  4. I'd pick Lamoureux as player of the game. To me, it sounded as if he was left out to dry numerous times and saved the Sioux bacon.

I was at the game. This is absolutely correct. If not for Phil, this could have easily been an embarrassing loss to an inferior team.

  5. I contacted the BSU ticket office a couple months ago before tickets even went on sale. The lady took my number and called me a few weeks later. She was very helpful and got me tickets close to other Sioux fans (section f row 9). My wife and I are heading up on Friday, staying in Bemidji, and then heading to GF for Saturday's game.

Does anybody have suggestions of a good place to hang out at before/after the game?

  6. From the article:

The University of North Dakota are members of the WCHA (Western Collegiate Hockey Association) and played in the NCAA Frozen Four National Championship game last season, losing to Denver University in the final game. The Fighting Sioux have won five national championships, most recently in 1997 and 2000. They are currently ranked fifth in the nation for Division I hockey with a 5-2-1 record.

Why do so many people screw this up?

  7. You pay too much atttention to Gopher fans. (both of you)

This from a Gopher fan who has nothing better to do at midnight on a Saturday night than to log on to a Sioux message board to see what Sioux fans are talking about.

  8. Hirsch taking the year off for the Rodents.  Must have to get rid of some more demons or something.  Anyone hear anything more on that story?

It's been discussed in the early departures thread.

  9. I'm looking into getting digital cable in Fargo and I want the best option for sports.  Unforunately, cableone is horrible, but I can't have a dish.  Does anyone have the FCS channels (pacific, central and atlantic) and how much college hockey do they play?  I looked at the schedule for this Friday and it shows the Wisco and Gophers games are going to be aired... but I couldn't find a list of games throughout the season.

If people say FCS has been good to them for college hockey, then I'll probably get it... otherwise I'm just going to have to settle with finding a friend with a dish.

I have the package with the FCS channels. Primarily they air Gophers & Wisconsin games, but every once in a while you might get some CCHA games as well. I think they aired some Denver games last year also. The other thing they do is replay most of the games a few times at odd hours (early morning, middle of the night). Hope this helps.

  10. What do you guys expect by talking about "class", etc.? NE is one of the jokes of college hockey.  Nearly always at the bottom of HE, and struggling to maintain any vague recognition in the Boston metro compared to Harvard, BC, BU, etc.  I think the only reason they get invited to the Beanpot, whatever that is, is because of a liberal obligation to help the underprivileged ... well, and MIT doesn't have a D1 hockey team.   :D

That's the tournament North Dakota won in Massachusetts last March. ???
