  1. Got an e-mail from the NCAA giving me my seat selections for the Frozen Four. First time that has happened I believe. A bit disappointed in what I got as I had moved down to the lower bowl last year and this year back up top. Might be because I cut down to two tickets instead of four and the NCAA is punishing me for my insolence in doing so . . . .

I was in club level in the corner last year. This year I got put in the second row of the upper level, just to the left of center ice.

  2. I live in Fargo and ran out to Walmart last year before the games and bought a digital antenna for my tv for $20 and now get all of the bemidji games. You can view all 4 of the PBS stations in the area with an antenna.

I need some clarification on this. I have an antenna that I use to pick up the local stations for HD. I get like 3 different local PBS stations on 13.1, 13.2, 13.3. Are the games on one of these channels, or do you need to try to pick up one of the Minnesota PBS stations? If so, on which channels can these be found?

  3. Looking at the seating chart, I assume the students are behind the opposing goaltender so the Sioux would attack the other side twice (section 101). But that's just my guess. You could always call the Kohl Center to be sure.

If Madison wasn't a 9-hour trip for me I would gladly attend the games. I just pulled up a ticket in row L of the lower bowl for $26.50.

Correct. I was at this series last year, and the Sioux attacked the Section 101 end twice.

  4. We are moving to Utah next week and I was able to get out of my Dish Network contract after only 7 months with no cancellation charge! Anyways, wanted to get DirecTV to watch Sioux games this year so will be getting that hooked up by the end of September so I am ready for hockey season! Just want to make sure I have everything right then, if I get the sports pack for the $12/month, that's all I will need then? Thanks everyone! Pretty excited about it!

Correct. If you have the sports pack you should be able to see any game that's aired on any of the Fox College Sports channels.

  5. There's some mention of the January game between North Dakota and Clarkson in Winnipeg in today's Free Press:

    Winnipeg Free Press

THE on, then in-doubt, then on-again NCAA hockey game coming to the MTS Centre this season appears now to be definitely on again. The University of North Dakota has scheduled a Jan. 7 game against the Clarkson University Golden Knights and it's believed to be the first NCAA game to be played outside of the U.S. The Jets are in Buffalo that night. UND had five players with Manitoba connections on their roster last season, but that has dwindled to just one, freshman Taylor Dickin. Third-year UND forward Jason Gregoire left school and signed with the Jets in early July.
  6. Saint Cloud should be a solid contender for admission. Northern Michigan as well. Notre Dame and WMU are nothing programs.

The new powers that be could have given some more thought to the new conference name. The National Collegiate Hockey Conference. Really?

Pretty damned lame. Of course it is a collegiate conference. No need to so state. And it is hardly national, at least in terms of geographic reach.

What is done is done. Now let's just retire the name and the logo and we can start the whole world anew. Thank God I've already a foot and a half out of the canoe.

I'll be watching most of what unfolds with Ralph.

If St. Cloud is a solid contender for admission, wouldn't you think they would have been included in the original plans?

  7. OK folks, so why don't we make a game out of this.

Pick the overall draft number position of the four UND recruits (Simpson, Grimaldi, Miller, St. Clair).

Lowest total difference from actual draft positions wins.

Tie breaker is closest single guess to actual position.

No prize other than honor and bragging rights.

    My entry:

Grimaldi - 19 overall (my guess inspired by Zach Parise)

Miller - 20 overall (Grimaldi goes and Miller goes next)

Simpson - 81 overall (you can teach skating; you can't teach 6'5" at age 17)

St. Clair - 181 overall (later rounds the Euros tend to move up and the North America guys move down relative to mock drafts)

Parise was #17 overall. Want to change your pick? :)
