  1. Former Sioux Jason Herter has been hired as the new Head Coach of the Fargo Force http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/175213/group/homepage/
  2. I made a valiant attempt to purchase single game tickets but was unsuccessful. If anyone has an extra ticket or two, please let me know. I'll take whatever you have - Friday, Saturday, or both nights.
  3. If you have money to spend there are some tickets available on Craigslist - 4 tickets each night for $1600 ($200/ticket/night)
  4. That's a nice opportunity for Johnson. I'm starting to feel bad for the Force. Three coaches in three years. Ouch!
  5. I called the UND Ticket Office this morning and was told my chances of getting tickets through UND are slim to none. Out of the 140 available, the players each receive 4 tickets for family and friends. The remaining tickets will be offered to Fighting Sioux Club Members who are in the Coaches Club or higher. I guess I will just have to wait it out and see if anyone down the road needs to unload a ticket to two... for a reasonable price.
  6. For those who were hoping to attend the Bemidji series: It's disappointing that members of the general public didn't even have a chance to purchase tickets. I understand that it's a big weekend for the Bemidji State hockey program, but it would be nice to have some Sioux fans in the building to create a little bit of a competetive atmosphere. Hopefully some Sioux fans in the Bemidji area will be able to score tickets somehow, or perhaps the Fighting Sioux Club was given some tickets for its members. http://www.bsubeavers.com/news/default/100/2981/
  7. Good deal! I think Tim Hennessy will do a great job with this show and I wouldn't mind an appearance or two by Virg Foss. It's nice to see that it will air nationally as well.
  8. Bummer! I don't get to attend many road games and I was excited about the prospect of attending this series. I figured tickets would be hard to come by, but I didn't expect that more than 90% of tickets were already spoken for.
  9. From Brad's Blog Landing the committment is only half the battle...
  10. From the updated GF Herald story about Grimaldi
  11. Yes, I did wear a Sioux jersey. I saw three other Sioux jerseys and a hat. Everyone else was wearing Toews Blackhawks jerseys or Team Canada jerseys. I have a feeling the Sioux jersey is why he stopped to sign my puck on his way out. Security was rushing him to the bus and I was standing there with a puck in my hand. As soon as he saw the jersey he came right over, but he didn't say anything. By that point in the day he looked absolutely exhausted. In 2006, Commodore took the Stanley Cup home for the day. At the end of the summer once everyone else had their day with the Cup, The Ralph arranged for him to bring the Cup to Grand Forks. It sounds like they are doing their best to get Toews and the Cup to The Ralph sometime this summer.
  12. A friend and I traveled to Winnipeg for Toews' day with the Stanley Cup. We didn't attend the ceremony at City Hall, but we did attend the parade and 'celebration' afterward. The crowd was much bigger than anyone expected. The Dakota Community Centre was officially re-named the Jonathan Toews Community Centre. There were a few guest speakers. Toews gave a brief speech thanking the city of Winnipeg, fans, friends and family, and his old hockey coaches. He was only scheduled to sign autographs for an hour, but he ended up signing for two hours because of the large crowd. Even so, hundreds of fans went home without an autograph. I managed to get my puck signed as he was walking to his bus. Parade: Toews with the Stanley Cup & Conn Smythe Trophy
  13. My budget doesn't allow for many road trips, but I hope to attend: -Series @ Bemidji in Oct. -Final Five -Frozen Four
  14. Jonathan Toews will bring the Stanley Cup to Winnipeg on Sunday. Source
  15. According to Schlossman, St. Clair (and Dillon Simpson) will be draft eligible next year.
  16. Brad Schlossman - Live blog/chat for Day 2 of the draft http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ DAY 2 #113 - Montreal - Mark MacMillan #149 - Philadelphia - Michael Parks #156 - Tampa Bay - Brendan O'Donnell #165 - Boston - Zane Gothberg #180 - Chicago - Nick Mattson
  17. Post-draft interview with Forbort on LA Kings website http://kings.nhl.com/index.html
  18. UND recruit Forbort goes No. 15 overall to L.A EDIT:
  19. No surprise there. I wonder if he will bring the Cup to Grand Forks later in the summer. In 2006 when Commodore won the Cup with Carolina he brought it back to his hometown for a day and then at the end of the summer he brought it to The Ralph. Hopefully The Ralph will be able to make a similar deal this year with Toews/Chicago Blackhawks/NHL. If not, given the close proximity of Grand Forks to Winnipeg, Toews could potentially bring bring the Cup to both cities in the same day.
  20. Brad Miller Time has returned and there is a special guest.
  21. The Betty doesn't have a video scoreboard, but I have heard them read the script over the PA system. They more than likely do the same for some other sports.
  22. The link to the petition has been posted on the 'Fighting Sioux Forever' Facebook group multiple times. The group has nearly 19,000 members and for some reason a very small majority of them have signed the petition. I saw it posted on a few other groups as well. Maybe try posting it on the NCAA Hockey Fan page or the NHL Fan page? Has anyone tried creating a thread on USCHO and posting the link? I'm not on that board often, but from what I've seen I think it would gain some support. Quite a few non-Sioux hockey fans sent e-mails to the SBHE on our behalf.
