Great work by Bob to get the news out on Nick and a standing "O" for PSB for the generousity.

With any team you cheer for and support, you want to see some consistancy. But even above that you want to see effort. Hockey is a game of bounces and luck on some nights as was evident for UND on Sat. But this UND team, like few I have watched, lacks total team effort by all guys night in and night out. It was nice to get the win Sat. but the effort was aweful. And that is not the first time that has happened at the Ralph on a Sat. night this year. If they (UND) play hard with great effort, this will be a great weekend of hockey to watch .

I'm aboard! These WCHA games have become difficult to watch--no flow, terrific talent not being able to play to potential, and I could go on. Case in point and I believe it was the Sioux's first penalty last night. There is a huge scrum off to JPL's right along the boards and right in front of us. Hooking, grabbing and slashing everywhere. The puck finally comes free and is moving up ice when Anderson calls Malone (I believe cross checking) for a penalty that had absolutely no bearing on the play in progress. Now was it a penalty? Maybe, but the point is what about all the other crap that was directly affecting the play prior to that. That is the stuff that drives me nuts!!
-
As much as I would love to see a sweep, my bet would be a split. But 2 road points and 4 home points per series the rest of the way puts us at 38. Would get us 3rd and possibly 2nd with a sweep of DU at home. Just trying not to get too greedy.
-
The problem is there is so much hooking, slashing and interference in WCHA games, where does one start to clean it up? It is so out-of-hand at this point, to truly start calling those types of penalties would send someone to the box every couple shifts. I purposely locked in on Oshie after his quick goal for the rest of the game and could not believe the crap he had to deal with the rest of the night--pathetic!!

"You are all worthless and weak. Now drop and give me twenty!"

Took a buddy from Iowa to the game--less knowledgable hockey fan than me. During warm ups, he was asking who to watch. Pointed out the obvious: Osh, Dunc, Chorney, VV, Finley and JPL. He thought Osh was outstanding even though "Alaska tackled him constantly". Said Phil was great as well. Said everyone else looked lost. Kind of apologized for the Sioux's play, especially in the 2nd as I told him UND has looked pretty good as of late. He loved the arena and thought it was a great college atmosphere.
-
Yup and I was looking for a Chorney siting last night as well.

Agree with you. A w is a w but GG33 and Puff might not see it that way

I will say this and then be off this thread as this topic seems to be bunching some panties. If you, as a radio sports personality, want to come across as objective and credible, than you have to be objective and a realist to the totality of what you are discussing. If you want to be a rube, then be one. But trying to walk the fence doesn't work as a sport's analyst or in politics (but I'll save that for a different thread )

Off topic, but glad to see Hrkac back in one piece from 'Kato!

No it wouldn't. And if you are looking for an argument, won't be here. Dubay said UND had basically no chance at this year's Frozen Four, but then went on to say the Gophs had a good chance to gain home ice for the WCHA first round. If you think that is objectionable, YOU must be Puffy. This UND team has lots of flaws, but when you are ranked 4th in the nation, even as a non-expert, like me, would say they have a chance at getting to Denver. "Simple" and "Gopher fan" seem to be paired together a lot from what I hear and read . Addendum: Will UND sweep at UM next weekend? More than likey not. Again that is being objective. (Score one for Mikey)
-
You are wrong, but that wouldn't be the first time a Gopher fan on this board has reached to make a questionable opinion while posting here. Did not ask for Dubay's opinion today but just asked if anyone else heard his nausiating ramble, which is generally anti-UND. When I have e-mailed him in the past, it has been to get his "new" opinion on remarks he previously made that were totally proved to be in error. Now hindsight is 20/20 of course, but if you are going to stick your neck out as an "analyst/expert" and have it come back to bite you, you should have the onions to own up to that. I, by my own admission, am not a hockey expert. But again I know when an "analyst" is being less than objectionable.

The third chuckle came during TJ's interview after the game when he was describing his goal and he said "I was really surprised I didn't have to do more to get open." (This is actually a really sad statement and comment on the state of officiating.) There in a nut shell is the answer
-
Really?? Questioned some of his "expertise" on all things WCHA last year and never heard from him. Not even after the West regional
-
Agree, but without question his best has been on display much more than his worst this year. Easily one of the top 3 goalies in the WCHA.
-
Wooger is ok. Puff's a tool. His fondest childhood memory is being bat boy for the Twins
-
Dubay thinks UND being rated 4th nationally is a joke. Was even more perplexed at how UND was rated ahead of DU in both polls.
-
Was buzzing around Fargo this morning when I caught "Beyond the Pond" with Puffy and his crew. Puffy said there was not much of chance that UND could get to the Frozen Four this year. He figured UND would be a 2, possibly a 3 seed in the big tourney. JPL is ok, not great, in net and not getting enough from Osh and Dunc. Also thought Duncan made a mistake coming back this year. But his Fluffiness thought that the Gophs still could get home ice for the first round of the WCHA? I must admit I caught bits and pieces, but it was obvious he thought after the 2 Colorado schools, everyone else was pretty close in the league. Did anybody else catch this?? Edit: Jeff "Puffy" Dubay of KFAN radio

The high roller suites at the Monte Carlo reopen before that happens

Toews...sorry just woke up with flashbacks of brilliance! OSHIE
-
I'll raise and give you 4 cents, Dogz. The game tonight vs. UAA was officiated in it's normal pathetic fashion. Teams with less overall skill and skating talent (which is why some team wins and another loses!!), like tonight, benefit from the constant blind eye to clutching, grabbing, hooking, slashing and obstruction. Multiple times tonight Oshie was absolutely mugged, and I'll throw in VV, Duncan and a couple others if you want. The way the WCHA refs call games today does close the gap between teams top to bottom period. Not elitist comments just facts. I know some teams will come to play on a given night and steal a game they shouldn't, but if games were officiated like the NHL today, teams with better skill and skaters would dominate more often. I do agree the WCHA is the best league top to bottom but it is the officiating more than anything that keeps these games week in and week out more competetive than they should be (in general).
-
Good win and great play by UAA goalie in his first college start. Could have had 5 or 6 tonight. SWEEP!!!
-
Saw that about Toews as well. Won't make it to the game tonight but will be there tomorrow to see the stick salute. Sweep: 5-3 and 4-1.

It is what it is and NA leadership is too stupid to put 2 and 2 together on that one.
