Well that's too bad about Thiessen. Would have been nice to land him for 07. Did he verbal to Northeastern for 06?

2000 was a long time ago? How many years did it take the Gophs to win another title after their 1979 championship?

The only forward that may displace Toews would be Raymond from UMD. But they appear to be going in different directions right now, as Toews has caught fire and Raymond has cooled off significantly. I wouldn't be suprised to see the trio of Kessel, Toews, and Oshie as the 3 forwards on the Rookie Team.

Why won't you just admit that Kessel is a good player? Yeah, he may play for one of our hated rivals, but he is still an excellent player...

Thanks for putting in the time to figure this all out sagard. Very informative.

So, we want them to either lose a few games to slip down to #4, or win out to hopefully gain a #1. I'd say that it is VERY likely that the Gophers will be placed in GF. If the Sioux make the tourney, my guess is that it will be as a 3 seed, possibly a 2 seed if they win and get help. If the Sioux win their first game, I would rather not have to face the Gophers with a trip to the Frozen Four on the line (and I am sure that the Gophers feel the same way), but they will have to face the good teams somewhere along the way regardless if they want to win #8. And while it would suck for the Gophers to have a shot at ending our season in the REA, it would also be nice to have the chance to end their season for the 2nd year in a row.

Kessel will win the WCHA ROTY, and he deserves it. He has shown that he is a great player. He came in with higher expectations than what Parise did, but I don't think that he will match Parise's numbers from his frosh year (although he will come close). All in all, I am very pleased with how our freshmen class has performed. Hakstol has shown that he is one of the best recruiters in the collegiate ranks in his two years here. I very much look forward to watching these kids play next season, as the defense will have another year of experience, confidence, and physical maturity (which will also lead to more offense from them). Toews and Oshie will be a force next season, and I just hope that a few 'flight risks' stick around for another season (Zajac, Stafford, Smaby, etc), as the Sioux will have a very talented team.

I agree with dagies. I am not a fan of DU at all. I'm not sure on who to root for this weekend in the CC/DU series. While I realize that a split or DU sweep will leave the opportunity for the Sioux to finish 4th, but I would rather almost see CC essentially end DU's season by putting them far back in the PWR rankings. DU could still win the Final Five to make it, but hopefully they are not given that option. I'm not sure that the Sioux want to finish 4th right now anyway with the way that the Mavs are playing...I think that I would rather see them play SCSU in the WCHA 1st round, which would also enable them to give some payback for the sweep at the Ralph.

Thanks for the updates! I assumed that was one reason that they were bringing in Darcy next season. Hopefully their plan works and Travis stays another year to play with his brother. I don't see Parise going pro (most undrafted goalies don't leave school early), but would still love to see Thiessen come in the 07 year to pick up the load after Lammy graduates. Hopefully the Sioux can land Willert and Marvin! From the looks of it, Marto could probably benefit from another year in the USHL, and like you said, with Genoway coming in and Bina coming back, things should be good in the defensive area.

If UMN is a #1 seed and UND is a #4 seed, then UMN could NOT be placed at the REA because then the first round matchup (where the #1 seed plays the #4 seed) would be inter-conference. They won't allow two teams from the same conference to play each other in the first round (which means that UW wouldn't be placed here either). Now, I agree that if UND makes it into the tourney, they will more than likely be a #3 seed, which means that UMN could definitely get placed in the REA regional with the Sioux.

I watched the game last night on FSC Central. Now, tonight it appears that UW/MSUM is playing on that channel (tape delayed), but it also shows DU/UND playing at 10:30 on FSCA. I wonder if that is tape delayed from tonight's game, or if it is just a replay of last night's game...any insight? Thanks!

Stafford with 3 assists on the night. Not too bad. Sparky didn't show up on the scoresheet, but he made several great plays and shot blocks that I saw. Agreed that all 4 lines were out there generating chances (and putting quite a few of them away).

PWR is now updated on USCHO. The Sioux are in 11th, but with a 3-2-1 bonus, they move up into a tie for 8th. They have to take care of DU tomorrow!
-
5 freshmen goals tonight!!
-
I wonder what that will do for the DU announcers opinion of Prpich, being that they already hated him.
-
Wow has Toews caught fire in the last few series. Love to see that.
-
Sioux are really doing well on the PK, not giving up many sog.
-
I've been trying to catch that as well.
-
Sioux PK is doing very well so far, they have held DU to 0 sog in 3 PP.
-
SCSU wins 6-1 over MTU. MSUM leads UW 6-3 in the 3rd. CC wins 5-0 over UMD.
-
That shouldn't have even been a 5min, so if it is a DQ, that's a complete horsecrap call.
-
I might have to save some of them for tomorrow night. Hopefully the Sioux can keep this up for the next 2 periods. They are getting lots of chances here.

What a shot!!! Oshie!! 3-0. UND came to play tonight!
