The Gophers look really tough this year. Getting Schroeder, Hoeffel, and Fairchild back from the WJC will help them even more. Hopefully those players are tired from the games and the travel. I just hope that the Sioux can manage to get a split. Anything more and I would be extremely happy, but I don't see that happening. A split or better would put them in a good spot for the WCHA standings.

Tough weekend for UW, getting swept by NMU. Tonight they had a 5-2 lead with less than 10min to go in the game before NMU stormed back and won in OT. The WCHA definitely seems down this year. There might only be two or three teams that make it into the NCAA's with at-large berths...lots of teams will be gunning for the Broadmoor and the autobid. DU also got beat up by BU...4-1. Goon will be happy to know that Miami lost both games this weekend though. A 4-2 loss to Clarkson and a 3-2 loss to Army, despite outshooting both teams by a combined 100-38.

I really wouldn't have minded seeing Canada lose. Their fans are getting to be too much, and they already have 4 golds in a row, they don't need 5. Go Sweden!!

UMD lost to ND tonight in a close game. 3-1 ND win with an ENG with 1 sec left. Too bad, it would have been cool to see the Bulldogs take down an over-rated CCHA team.

Great to see them pull it off in OT. Two great, close games with BSU yet again. Nice to get those two wins after the GLI debacle. Time to take it to the Gophers and their tired out WJC players!

Maybe he can get a goal here in the 3rd...seems like it has been a while for him.

I don't think Goehring, Oshie, or Stafford ever played on the same team together. That said, it seems that we have always played BSU close recently. Off the top of my head, I don't remember ever beating them by more than 1-2 goals.

Interesting to see Miller back at forward. And all the way up on the top line to boot! I like that 3rd line. Hopefully Toews can work his way back into the lineup...

He's getting more and more playing time as the tourney goes on. I was surprised at how much he was out there against Canada. He'll for sure be fun to watch in a Sioux uni...good wheels on him.

Good catch. I was just going to check Heisenberg anyway, and then I saw your post. Does anyone have any info about Parks? Looks like he is also on the U17 team.

Heisenberg has it that Anders Lee has committed to Notre Dame. Great pickup for them, they will be strong in the coming years as well. I was hoping that we would land him, but you can't get them all.

It's a good thing my wife isn't Slovakian, as then I would have to cheer for them against the USA in the next game.

I was surprised with the cheap antics of the Canadian team. I guess when they actually face a team of equal skill, they have to goon it up. I really hope that the US gets another shot at them, this time for a medal. And then I hope that they shutup the goons, the showboat Tavares, and the 20k fans and take the whole thing.

In the other big matchup of the unbeatens from today, Sweden beat Russia 5-0 to secure their bye to the semi-finals. The Czechs also beat Kazakhstan 10-2. Those were the first two goals scored by the Kazakh's in the WJC.

Player development after half a season has put Schroeder on the WJC team and Gregoire with only 4 goals. Man, that Lucia can develop players quickly!
