Strathmann injured too after driven into the boards...he went to the locker room with Pooly. Forget carrying 8-9 D next season...we need 10-11 from the looks of things.
-
They said it was tipped in front. Not a good defensive or goalie start though. TJ needs to get that first one at least.
-
Geez wth 1-2
-
He prob spent all week working on his breakaway moves.
-
So much for Cornell being rusty. 0-1 already
-
Agreed. Cornell is like a more skilled version of Mankato. And we struggled against them for both games.

WTH. How are we already short so early in the season? Four players didn't travel with the team for the Cornell series due to injuries: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/und-arrives-in-ithaca-with-shortened-roster Berg, Zmolek, Komzak, and Johnson all injured. Berg is a surprise. Both him and Zmolek would have been helpful against Cornell. Would be nice if Berg could be back for UMD...doesn't sound like Zmolek will be though.

Loved watching Danny wear the green n white! He was such a good Sioux guy. One of my favorite Kristo memories was from the Final Five. We had the same tickets every year for like 3-4 years and the same group of Gopher fans had the same tickets one row behind us. One of those Goofer fans hated Kristo so much because he went to UND instead of UMN. Every single time Kristo had the puck, he'd say "f#$in Kristo!". Still to this day, my friend group and I say "f#$in Kristo" as a joke to each other.

Man, we can sure hope so!

I bet our players stats (and our team record) would be better too if we'd played Denver's schedule thus far (NE, UAA, UW). It's not gonna get any easier this weekend either. We'll need to schedule more cupcakes if we want those high stats! I remember Parise freshman year when UND played a NC schedule of Canisius (3x!!), Niagara (2x), Princeton, Yale, Brown, and BSU. They went 9-0 against those teams...it probably certainly helped with Zach putting up 60+ pts as a frosh.
-
Going 6-0 against those three would do wonders for the W/L column after this brutally tough start. Normally Miami is good for a "scare" game where they play well against us...like the OT game last season after we crushed them the other games. But they have looked absolutely awful so far this season. BSU is tough because they play that damn trap defensive game and we are their world series each season. But agreed...we need to take care of business against those three teams all in a row, especially if we have a couple more hiccups against Cornell, Duluth, and Denver.
-
But that exhibition loss could come back and bite them, right?
-
Agreed. We're barely into this season and have already had to play a game with every available D man playing...even had a forward taking shifts at D.

Return of the analytics!! Argghh!! https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/unds-five-on-five-play-a-positive-early-this-season Also, some faceoff stats:

Agreed. I'd do Seattle way before Austin.

Tough road series upcoming this weekend. I could see this being more similar to the MSUM series...I think offensive chances will be more limited, especially when compared to the BU series. Cornell is big & heavy and experienced. These will be their first two games of the season, so maybe they'll be a bit rusty...we can hope. Someone keeps giving Cornell a #1 vote in the polls (Wodon?), so hopefully UND can knock them down a peg or two.
-
Geez. When he arrives at UND when he's 17, it'll be similar to what he's experienced in the past:
-
Monster pickup. Kid is still so young. Let's hope that he makes it to campus...and if he does...that he sticks it out for a couple years. Will be fun to watch!
-
He's just mad that Sandy wasn't in on this guy.
-
Doesn't get any easier the next three weekends either. I could see a split the next three weeks against Cornell, UMD, and DU. Cornell is a big, heavy, experienced team like Mankato. We won't get nearly as many scoring chances as we did against BU. Time and space on the ice will have to be earned. Some really really good UND teams have failed to sweep Duluth in Duluth, even if our skill level is superior IMO. And then DU will be a really tough series...they're playing lights out early this season. Going 3-3 in those 6 games doesn't seem awesome, for sure. But then the next three weekends are Robert Morris, BSU, and Miami. I would hope for a 5-1 record at worst in those 6 games.

Perron too. He missed a couple as well.
