2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
brianvf replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Crazy to see that Michigan has scored 26 goals this season in only 4 games, but somehow Perron only has one assist so far (and even that was a secondary assist). I'm sure he'll get his points, but with very similar TOI to the other forwards on that team, he's falling behind quickly. Agreed on Sacha...that one is still annoying. He would've had a monster year. Top 3 centers of Boisvert/Reschny/Rickwood? Damn. Not sure who on the team wouldn't have come in though if he would have stayed. Either way...still hoping that we take out both Michigan and BU in the NCAA's this year. -

to me, he reminds me of a Jordan Kawaguchi type player. Except Guch had a slightly better shot and Mac is a slightly better passer. But I imagine that their progression will be similar. They had very similar stat lines their FR years at UND (Guch had 5-14--19 and Mac 2-16--18). Guch had a good SO season (26pts) and then exploded his JR/SR years. -

His vision and passing are elite. You don't get to be the USHL Forward of the Year and USHL Player of the Year without being elite. He obviously had some adjustment time last year coming from the USHL to NCAA speed, but I am guessing he will have a big leap this year. And even bigger leap next year. He's gonna be a really fun collegiate player to watch progress...I'm glad we get to watch it in a UND uni. -
Anything can happen in big rivalry weekends. Many times in this series, there have been times where the "lesser skilled" team has won. Just look at the timeout game as reference.

Updated Commit Stats as of Oct 12: Williams healthy again and had a nice couple games upon his return. Lindberg already has as many goals this season as he did all of last year with the U18 team. Hopefully going back a year will benefit him in the same way as Laurila. Heil has been dominant in net to start the season. Forwards B. They've had a nice current recruiting cycle...even picking up a few very good non-MN players. Still no CHL or any even rumored to want to go there. Their last recruiting cycle was pretty bad though, and I think they'll feel that for a few years.

As some of us were talking about (and hoping for) during the off-season...this team passes the eye-test. Last year, they had flashes of skill and good play, but they never passed the eye-test for the entire game. I know it is early. And I know that there will be some rough stretches with how young our forward group is. But this team looks the part. Faster, no question. Better passing already after two games. Relentless on the puck. I've seen more takeaways in the offensive and neutral zones than I remember from half the season last year (led directly to one goal each game). How fun is that 4th line? Dang. Might be the best 4th line in the country with how they're playing. -
Haha, I just did it to mess with ya. I'm sure @jimdahl could write some code to not allow any xG talk to be posted?
-
Yeah, he played better on Friday than two of the dmen today. It's great to have that depth. According to the CHN boxscore and the dreaded xG metric, UST should have won this game 3.8-2.2. Ha, I feel that UND had quite a few good scoring chances that Musser stopped...not sure I agree with that 2.2 stat.
-
"Depth" I like it. +1 on each.
-
Karl applied for HC job, didn't get it. Then Dane let him go. It is what it is.
-
Great sweep. Win the games that you should. Now, bring on UMN.
-
And Liver with 1-2-3.
-
James tackled, no call.
-
We're gonna see a lot of scoring from our dmen this season, I feel. Not because our forwards lack skill (like the year Wolanin was our leading scorer), but because our d-corps is just so darn skilled.
-
I'm gonna TM that name if they stick together. 9min left...close this one out!
-
Took long enough.
-
UND with 2 goals on 3 shots this period. Keep up with that shooting % and we'll be fine.
-
Just a beautiful pass across from Rickwood. He's so good. Rickwood from Zellers Zellers from Rickwood Be huge if that line gets rolling too.
-
ZELLERS!!! What a pass
