Sweet little move on the breakaway to score a goal against UMN this year.

Top half? That would be optimistic from reading some of the posts on here.

2023-24 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Yeah still a couple uncertainties, for sure. I could see them maybe wanting 16F again this year with not knowing Montgomery's status and recovery from injury. -

Expected Roster as of 4/10/23 - Going by a somewhat typical 26-man roster (15 F / 8 D / 3 G): Forwards (15) Fr - Emerson / Perron So - Blake / James / McLaughlin / Strinden / Montgomery (RS) Jr - Schmaltz / Kunz / Berg Sr - Gaber / Jamernik / Ness Gr - Albrecht / Johannes Defense (6) Fr - Benoit / Komzak / Wiebe / Livanavage / Strathmann Gr - Pyke Goalies (3) Fr - Hedquist So - Johnson Sr - Persson Portal and/or Recruit D - Need two The Johannes addition rounds out the forward group nicely. He should fit in well as the Judd replacement. Hopefully he can tame down the majors and misconducts, otherwise he'll just be the new Kleven. Still need a couple dmen! -
Today's portal entrants: Michigan F Eric Ciccolini (NYR) Michigan F Nick Granowicz Michigan D Keaton Pehrson BU F Brian Carrabes Michigan loses three to the portal, including a drafted forward.

Yeah that option would still be there as long as he and the coaches mutually agreed. A CC player already did that this off-season. Entered the portal then elected to stay at CC.

2023 National Championship Game: Quinnipiac vs. Minnesota

Pecknold has remained loyal to QU for almost 30 years. My guess is that he'd only leave there for an NHL job. -

Looks like Cameron Berg is leading UND in goals next season and leading us to the title. -
We’ll see what Cooley does now.

Do you think MN fans were cheering for us to beat QU in 2016? -

He got tangled up with a QU player, then took it a bit too far. The refs could have called them both, but the fact that Cooley's stick ended up around the QU players head/neck made it difficult to not call him. -

Oh...yes please. That'd be like the opposite of that Holy Cross student announcing team calling the HC/MN OT winner. -

QU did a fantastic job on MN's top line. Whenever Cooley or Knies had the puck, they were swarmed and smothered by the QU defense. There were a lot of parallels between this game and the 2016 title game. QU came in highly touted in both, and the opposing teams both had very skilled top lines and a very experienced d-corps. Both times QU had a 2-1 deficit after 2 periods. The main difference was that UND's top line dominated the 3rd in 2016 and UND pulled away. This year, QU bottled up the MN top line and finally tied it. -

For sure. Their recruiting class in 2 years is ridiculous, with Eiserman. That said, they won't have a defensive group similar to what they had this year for many, many years. -

This was that year for them. All their D group that could have left last season all returned. For sure, if Knies and/or Cooley returned, they'll be a force yet again. But it was their defense that was so much improved this season because all those guys stuck around. Michigan is the younger team, I bet they take the B10 next season. -

I'm more than happy to forget any previous negative thoughts we had about him...being that he prevented UMN from winning a title for yet another year.
