My guess: Goalie - Portal, Hedquist or portal, Hellsten, Johnson Defense - Frisch or portal, Moore, Bast, Komzak, Benoit, Wiebe, Livanavage, Strathmann Forward - Portal, Caulfield, Gaber, Ness, Jamernik, Schmaltz, Costantini, Portz, Kunz, Strinden, McLaughlin, Blake, James, Emerson, Perron That's a young d-corps, but two of the incoming frosh are studs and if Frisch returns he would be a solid anchor to the group. The key would be landing a capable portal goalie that ideally has two years of eligibility left...his 2nd year he could hopefully take Hedquist under his wing to get him up to speed.

He is out tomorrow but can play Sat night.

The only issue with that logic is that Costantini has been 4th line or extra skater most of the season, while Hain has been getting 1st/2nd line minutes plus PP time. If you put Matteo in those roles, does he excel more? Maybe, maybe not.

If Berry keeps the same center group as last weekend of Senden/Jammer/OwenMc/Ness or Strinden...then I would guess Ness sits, Strinden moves to forward (like he did for Saturday's game).

What is the other option? This year they brought in a couple dmen and a goalie via portal. I suppose they could have brought in some recruits that weren't ready yet or try to find some leftover overagers in the junior ranks. The portal is here to stay, unfortunately. Other schools have used it to their advantage. As have we.

For sure helped them having Perunovich who came in as a freshman and led the team in points by a fair margin. Not sure any of our incoming D fit that mold, but for sure our current D recruits should be steady. Agreed.

I think it is hard to say that a freshman is regressing, being that they have no collegiate body of work to compare them to. What would we call Blake then? Since he is playing better than expected...is he getting better under Berry's leadership? And even saying that...I'd say that both OwenMc and James have shown improvement this year as the season has progressed. Still some mistakes in their games from time to time, but they'll both be excellent players for us in upcoming years. Johnson is another case entirely. I am guessing there is something going on behind the scenes there that we don't see.
