  1. Why do we care so much about lowly St Cloud?  It comes across as very insecure that there is so much conversation about them.  It'd be like an Alabama Crimson Tide forum ranting and raving about all the happenings of SEC rival Vanderbilt.

Suggestions on where to go to get a custom jersey (replica or authentic doesn't matter) circa 2005-06?

    OR

Does anyone have a Zajac jersey they want to part with?

I have a black authentic, size 52, done up as a Zajac by EPS.  But, I'm just not sure I want to part with it. :)  Money talks, though. ;)

I've heard this narrative before. However, if Fargo really is The Center Of The Known Universe:

Why did it take them years to raise $$$$$ to renovate the old BSA?

    Why aren't they FBS already?

Why haven't they built a newer, larger stadium?

The answer is that they aren't as big and powerful as they think they are. If people in Minneapolis-St. Paul were told what people in Imperial Cass County thought of themselves, they would laugh until they cried. Fargo is just another place in flyover country to people in larger cities and/or states. And to be honest, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

This may be a bit of bias, but having lived in GF/Bis/Fargo, Fargo really is the epicenter of the state IMO.  With that said, so much money is being poured into growth that there isn't much left over for NDSU football outside of what the fleas (aka the bandwagon fans) spend.  The thing is, the fleas have been jumping off for a couple of years now and no one gives a flying F about NDSU football except a select few.  NDSU was a fun social thing in town for some because it was new and exciting, but the novelty has worn off and no one cares...even the last couple of years when they won their last JV FBS titles.  You used to see every single-brain-celled individual wearing NDSU shi...l mean stuff...at one point, and no one wears anything anymore.  NDSU is like the Yeti Cooler of no name football....overpriced and a waste of time and money when you find out you're getting scammed.  That's why FBS hasn't happened and won't happen.

Close second, but my pick has to be Skokes kickoff return. Punched them in the mouth when they weren't ready and had them reeling. Siegel's pick sent them into panic mode.

Both were epic, but I lean toward the interception myself.  The return TD was a great pop, but we knew it'd still be a dogfight after that and NDSU wasn't really going away in the first half despite how well we played and controlled most of the game.  NDSU had the ball and was ready to cut into the lead again with a momentum swing of their own and then bam....HUGE interception.  It really felt like it was our game to lose at that point.

What is meant by “Generic Salad Dressing” ?  Is Generic Ranch style Dressing what being called for in the White Sauce ?

Like Miracle Whip, but generic.  It's not "salad dressing" as in the lettuce dish definition of the word.

This whole defensive disaster last year to retooling totally this year seems to be a player development issue.  What's going on that we missed on so many players that other good teams want?  Looking at the roster for next year we seem to have some real blanks where previous recruiting classes should be.  If it wasn't for the portal we would be in deep doo doo.  Are we identifying the talent we want and coaching them up in an orderly fashion.  Doesn't look like it.  We have a veteran staff and I am surprised that here we are.  However, I am surprised that we can't recruit and develop good young goalies anymore too.  Hopefully we are back on track.

Don't question Brad Berry on these forums.  We've only won one NCAA game in seven years, but One More Year™!

u do wonder why the tellman's didn't find some friend from ATO that wasn't good at school but was good with food and say "you wanna open up a red pepper in tucson or mesa?"....here's your bus ticket!

I understand that Red Pepper hardly claims to be Mexican, and I also realize that there are plenty of GF/UND folks down in AZ, but you're talking about putting a semi-Mexicanish restaurant in arguably the heart of the best Mexican cuisine in the USA.  If ya gotta have a grinder in Arizona, just order off Goldbelly.

The NCAA really needs to amend the portal rules to not let it be a "free for all".  That's just going to end up hurting the smaller schools more and more as the "big" schools pluck talented players from their rosters...like a feeder system.

It'll be good once the 5th year "free" year is done, as that will make for less portal entrants.  Is next year the last year for that?  Or two more years?

I don't think the NCAA cares much about the schools themselves.  The whole idea is allowing a young adult make the best decision for their individual future.  I agree with your sentiment, but sadly I don't think much is going to change or there will be more lawsuits.

Yo, Mods.... this is way off track.

Watching every hockey thread devolve into this is getting old.

All I have done is quote other messages and make counterpoints.  You only don't like what I have to say, which is fair, but what are you trying to accomplish?  This post of yours is more off track than any of mine have been.

Might want to get your eyes checked, as UND was playing some of their best hockey at the end, it’s just that at that point they were already behind the eight ball.

I suppose you're right, they were playing some of their best hockey of the year if that's how you want to look at it.  But, they were also playing some mediocre competition and many of those games were down to a single goal, very few were super convincing wins.  After new year they were still only 1-5-1 in games against teams that made the NCAA tournament including a loss when it mattered most in St Paul to St Cloud.

You mean the one where UND was the number one overall seed going into the tournament that got cancelled?
Nothing guaranteed one way or another but if that season plays out, one of the two opinion camps have a data point to work with (and I'm stating it could have been either side).

Who's to say they would have won a single tourney game in 2020?  What if they lost in the first round with another "loaded" team...would that change your opinion any?  They didn't play any games so it's entirely meaningless for both sides of the argument.  As good as they were, that team was nowhere near as talented as the 2015-16 team, and that 15-16 team almost didn't make it past the national semifinal.  The teams the following two years were plenty talented and only managed to beat AIC in the tourney.  UND hasn't won a regional in seven seasons with or without teams talented enough to win a conference title.  That natty was awesome, but is no longer recent memory.  How many more patchwork teams do we have to bear witness to before more people realize that UND dragged their feet and wasted time for nothing?

How many programs have a better record or average pairwise finish than UND since Berry took over?

What color are the Average Pairwise Finish Banners in the Ralph?  Are we trending up or down?  Are high end recruits interested in UND lately?  How many of our players that played well under Berry and gave some regular season success had their scouting and recruitment start under Hakstol?

If "someone" would pay the buyout...then that same "someone" should help fund and setup the UND NIL to get blue chippah players on campus and help prevent the nightmare scenario.

There is no nightmare scenario....we loaded up on portal transfers.  All is good.

I swear, you’re not happy unless you’re upset.

I've lost count, but I've been here 12-13-14 years or something.  The fact you're first saying this now shows you'd be incorrect.  Though Hak never won a title, he continued to grow the program in a positive direction and made UND hockey fun and competitive.  Berry started on a high note and has not only failed to continue that growth, but our program has waned under his watch.  I've given Berry his chances after earlier program hardships which is why I wasn't vocal then, but when it's time to call a spade a spade, I'm not going to sit here and not voice my opinion.  That's what we're all here for, is it not?  Or, do many of you just want a safe space echo chamber of positivity?  Some are okay with where UND is at.  I don't get it, but fine...so be it.  I'm not happy and won't accept where our program is right now.  Everyone wants to give Berry more chances, but keep in mind, this isn't his first misstep.  Covid fog is gettin' to many of you.

Having taken in all the moves in the offseason (including the departures of EVERY eligible defenseman), I'm guessing that the coaching staff concluded that the collective ability/mindset of their D-corp was simply sub-par and unable/unwilling to learn.  The guys they have brought in through the portal appear to be some elite college-level folks.  Really pretty happy about them.

Not sure what is in the works, but at least they have proven that they can kick everyone out and still field a legitimate team.  One or two more portal folks might be needed, but I for one am impressed with the offseason.

So your first point is that the outgoing kids were subpar on a talent level and/or unwilling/unable to learn.  Berry is a self-proclaimed "culture" guy yet has had numerous bad culture players on one team?  We've seldom had players in the past unwilling to put in the work and Berry is a lifelong defensive guy from his time as a player and as a coach.  On paper, there aren't many in the NCAA with Berry's type of resume in that regard.  So, Berry either recruited the wrong kids or couldn't coach them...or both.  A failure on his part either way.

Second, you're impressed with a group of transfers who haven't even played a game for UND yet.  How do we know they're legitimate?  Maybe they will be great, maybe they won't, but the fact that we're relying on the portal to make our team instead of using it as a means of enhancing our team is a failure on its own.  There's nothing wrong with a portal guy or two each year...UND should definitely take advantage of that when able, but Berry's poor roster management has led to a situation where we HAVE to use it instead of WANT to use it.

In my opinion, it shows Berry has very little control over the program at the moment.  I see none of our rivals encountering roster mismanagement to this degree, especially considering Berry is playing with a stacked hand factoring in the facilities, history, fanbase, etc.  Instead of holding Berry to the high standard our program deserves, everyone wants to keep lowering the bar for him.  I guess it's a sign of the times....

UND could use another goaltender in the pipeline. Whom should the coaches target?

Make a list of all NCAA teams.  Remove the teams ranked in the top half this past season.  Now, with the remaining teams make a list of all goaltenders.  Next, remove all starting goaltenders leaving just the backup goalies for the bottom half teams.  Once you have that list, remove all goalies except those who will be a junior for the '23-24 season.  Once this coming season is over, I imagine a few of those will hit the portal for their senior year in 2024-25 and it will likely be one of those that Berry ends up recruiting.

Quite the mix of assumptions, opinions and even what appears to be a false accusations or two mixed in with the commentary there.

Congrats on having opinions though! Typing alot or often doesn't make them more valid or accurate though. Nor does trying to rain what others see as positive developments after what were disappointing results this year.

What would you deem incorrect or false?
