  1. Sick Shoot-Out goal by Frattin tonight to win the game for the Leafs! Looking forward to see him play tomorrow night vs the Bruins at the Gaaaaaahden... Go Sioux!!!
  2. So, i made it up to Portland Maine this past weekend to watch former Sioux players Ryan Duncan, Brett Hextall, and Matty Watkins. Saturday was a practice day viewing for the public, and consisted of mostly drills...A few times during practice they broke out doing 2-1, 3-2, and different number odd men rushes...Nothing significant other than Hextall burried most of his chances, and Duncan set up most of his odd man rushes... Today-Sunday was Their Final Pre-Season Game vs Manchester (The Kings AHL Team), and Hextall's dad's GM job. Ryan wears the 32, Watkins the 14, and Hextall the 24. In typical Fighting Sioux fashion Matty Watkins registered the first official SOG, Hextall got the first penalty, and guess who scored the Pirates first goal. Yep, you guessed it My Hobey, Ryan Duncan. Since this was a final Preseason tune up both coaches shuffled line-up's often. Final Score was 2-0 Portland, and following the game there was a post game skate with the team...We met up with the 3 Sioux stand-out's and chatted a bit...Everyone of them was excited to see some Fighting Sioux Green in the stands and i think we are gonna make the 2.5 hour drive every so often... If anyone is out East and headed up to Portland to watch a game make sure to IM before the weekend. I will post updates as their season continue's... Portland's first home game is Sat 15 Oct vs the same team... v/r Rich Thorpe
  3. This link has a picture of Ducn's in his new jersey... One step closer to another former Sioux in the NHL... Enjoy http://www.pressherald.com/sports/pirates/taking-it-up-a-notch_2011-09-27.html
  4. The Portland Pirates have a nice Promo going this year... Sunday Oct 2nd, there is a post game skate with the New players on the roster after a preseason game vs the Manchester Monarchs. They are asking for a $5 donation to take part in the post game skate...Sounds like a no-brainer to me. Kinda looking forward to hitting the Ice with a few Hobey Baker Winners... Once again the Portland Pirates roster isn't out yet, but camp is in session... v/r Rich T
  5. Brad Miller to Gwinnett Gladiators So if i read this right, Gwinnett is a sister team of the Portland Pirates... So tenatively untill we hear a Official Roster from the Pirates they have Fienaghe, HB Winner Ryan Duncan, Miller, Brent Hextall, Matty Watkins, HB Winner Andy Miele, And Goalie Marc Cheverie... Pumped to see all the Sioux Players, and the other WCHA Flavor on this team... Go Pirates?!!!
  6. I see we are playing BC in the Icebreaker and Harvard but both games are in GF. Any rumor who the away East Coast team we play this year? I haven't seen much on the message board...
  7. Nice Topic...Props to UMD, they always say a Hot goalie and a Great PP can win you the title. UMD has always been a fun team to watch...Alot of excitement for that team with the new arena, and now the National Title. It just sucks cause now i have to listen to my big mouth Brother-In-Law for the next 30 years till they win the next. Shoot he has barely let me live down the WCHA crown they won a few years back... All in all, i agree...Go Dawgs, Congrats to all Dawg fans!!! But the 2012 season can't get here soon enough...
  8. screw it, i took Air Force over Yale... Call me an AF homer, but i think Yale is going to Underestimate AF like every 1 or 2 seed tries to over look the 15 or 16 seed. IMO, Yale isn't a true #1 seed anyways. Lets Go AF!!!
  9. So, JG failed to find the twine last game after scoring in 5 straight. I feel like i am breaking this Survivor game down like i did my hoops bracket. I am taking JG tonight. I think Knight and Hexy will find JG for a few goals tonight... Friday night- Jason G...Final Answer
  10. Ron Hextall's kid Sunday... Go Sioux!!!
  11. Lets go Sioux!!! Keep the momentum going!!!
  12. Friday-Trupp Saturday-Fratts Go Sioux!!!
  13. Well said Mr Esox Pirate, well said...Here's hoping to a speedy recovery
  14. Live from Warm-up's Cichy is warming up...Nelson is also warming up...Stay posted Lammy rocking the Black Eye?
  15. Good point, 50% of the teams in the WCHA would love to have our depth problem... 80% of NCAA teams would love to have our problem. i like Kristo and Brock together, let them gel for a few few years then Blosson like our #1 Line did this year with Fratts, Trupper and Pony...4 yrs ago i would have never imagined this line to be as awesome as it is. All 3 players fought for time, and played their own gameplan and not anywhere near performing like they are... Hak does an incredible job getting the best out of these 4 year dudes
  16. i was at the Yale/Harvard game last night and Yale fans think Little is the guy to beat... He seemed decent, but dude is totally arrogant. Late in the third period with Yale up 4-1 he was in our zone for a face-off and some Homer Yells "Go get-em Broc"... Little takes his stick and taps it a few times over top of the Plexi-Glass... IMO, on Harvard's Home Ice it was totally classless. After talking to a Yale Asst Coaches wife (sat next to her) she says he totally acts like that all the time. I would love to see him pull that kind of stuff in a WCHA arena... other Hobey Talk... Frats goals should speak for it'self...If not i would say our SOS, and National Ranking should help too. i do hope more positive talk about his switch from the past years problems are talked about than the negative... Go Sioux...
  17. no, we have dominated this entire game. We almost stuffed one in 15 seconds in
  18. I remember that UNH series a few years back all to well. It was supposed to be JVR's (Flyers #1 Draft Pick) trip to GF, but he went to play with the World Jr's and what-not. Then after the Friday game i was in a horrible accident and stuck in the ditch between GF and Fargo for 2 hours till a plow pulled us out. Then another 8 hour drive to the In-Laws place in MN. That day was my 1 Year Old son's B-Day. And it was almost our last...Everyone was fine, just a crazy, crazy night. That is why i am appreciative for everyday we spend with family. You just never know... Be safe Everyone...
