That's true. For example, when I interviewed Toews after he returned from the World Juniors, I told him the he could drop as many F-bombs as he wanted because I'd just edit them out.

By 2 p.m. Sunday, I'll be able to give you some great odds.
-
Even if I went, I wouldn't be writing an "arcile." What I enjoy most when I go to the Final Five is the opportunity to just be a fan and watch some great college hockey.

That has absolutely nothing to do with it. Moy is merely pointing out the possibility that if the moon and the stars line up correctly, the Sioux may not make the NCAA tournament. The whole point of the exercise is to sketch out various scenarios. Would you be happy if USCHO said that UND was guaranteed a spot in the NCAAs and they didn't make it? I can only imagine the whining and complaining that would follow. And does everything have to be an anti-UND conspiracy?

He's a PR guy. They'll say anything.

In Canada, they're called playoafs.
-
I heard a rumor that was the new nickname!
-
I had a tough time talking you into that.

Drink a beer for me. I'll have to miss this year.
-
Which would be cool!
-
Well, that would be a good thing, wouldn't it?
-
Seems as if some people are finally starting to figure this out.
-
The Sioux won that, too!
-
Me too. It worked pretty well for Minnesota, as I recall.

Maybe you'll like this one better. I remember a few years back when Lucia and Gopher fans told us that winning the McNaughton Cup wasn't important. I remember when Lucia said his team didn't need a freshman to carry the mail. I remember when certain Gopher fans flooded a Sioux hockey fan site with "CHOKERS" posts following the 97-98 and 98-99 seasons. Now we have Gopher fans coming here to tell us that winning the McNaughton vastly important. Now we have Gopher fans coming here to boast about the wonderful freshmen they have that we don't. Now we have Gopher fans who whine, complain and make threats against Sioux fans who remind them of Holy Cross. My, how times have changed.
-
Really? I heard that Madge fills it with Lux and has the entire Gopher team soak their hands in it before she does their nails.

I just quoted from Dan Benson's latest Fighting Sioux hockey news release.

Doesn't look very red to me.

Here are some second half stats for Final Five goalies: Teslak Save percentage: .929 Goals against average: 1.75 Record: 8-3-2 (.692) Goepfert Save percentage: .938 Goals against average: 1.90 Record: 10-4-4 (.667) Lamoureux Save percentage: .928 Goals against average: 1.98 Record: 14-2-4 (.800) Elliott Save percentage: .924 Goals against average: 1.99 Record: 8-7-1 (.531) Briggs Save percentage: .916 Goals against average: 2.12 Record: 8-7-0 (.533) Frazee Save percentage: .901 Goals against average: 2.92 Record: 5-1-0 (.833)

Michael-Lee Teslak, Bobby Goepfert and Phil Lamoureux are the first, second and third best WCHA goalies respectively in the second half of the season. Goepfert's numbers are a hair better than Lamoureux's. What does Lamoureux have that none of the top three have? A .800 winning percentage. Goepfert is at .667 and Teslak is at .692. In the second half of the season, Briggs would be the seventh best goalie in the WCHA. He has a .533 winning percentage. I know which goalie I'd rather have at this point of the season -- the one that wins the most.

They have no voice because the media ignores them. They have no vote because those who represent them ignore them. They have no rights because the minority of their minority tramples them. They're treated as if they don't exist.
-
Let them keep thinking that. They're in for a surprise.

As many time as I've seen Duncan without his helmet on, I never considered his hair red. Where did that come from?

It's time to update the stats comparison between SCSU and UND. Yes, I know stats don't win games, but they do provide useful comparisons and they do show trends. First, here are the overall stats for the season on each team: SCSU 2006-2007 totals to date - 37 games at 22-8-7 (.689) Total goals for = 121 Total goals against = 85 Average goals scored per game = 3.27 Average goals against per game = 2.30 Average scoring margin per game = +0.97 UND 2006-2007 totals to date - 38 games at 21-12-5 (.618) Total goals for = 130 Total goals against = 98 Average goals scored per game = 3.42 Average goals against per game = 2.58 Average scoring margin per game = +0.84 Frankly, after how poorly the Sioux played the first half of the season, I'm surprised that the overall stats are as close as they are. The Sioux are a better offensive team and SCSU is a better defensive team. I'm sure that surprises nobody. This is a comparison of each team during the first half of the season: SCSU to Dec. 9, 2006 - 16 games at 10-3-3 (.719) Total goals for = 57 Total goals against = 34 Average goals scored per game = 3.56 Average goals against per game = 2.13 Average scoring margin per game = +1.43 UND to Dec. 16, 2006 - 18 games at 7-10-1 (.417) Total goals for = 54 Total goals against = 57 Average goals scored per game = 3.00 Average goals against per game = 3.17 Average scoring margin per game = -0.17 The real story is UND's turnaround in the second half of the season. Here's what the stats reveal for that time period: SCSU since Dec. 29, 2006 - 21 games at 12-5-4 (.667) Total goals for = 64 Total goals against = 51 Average goals scored per game = 3.05 Average goals against per game = 2.43 Average scoring margin = +0.62 UND since Dec. 29, 2006 - 20 games at 14-2-4 (.800) Total goals for = 76 Total goals against = 41 Average goals scored per game = 3.80 Average goals against per game = 2.05 Average scoring margin = +1.75 The reason I compiled these stats before the two teams met last time was because I didn't buy the spin that SCSU was playing better than it was when the Huskies went 0-1-1 in Grand Forks. UND not only compiled a better record than SCSU in the second half of the season, it did it against tougher competition (and UND has played tougher competition since then). That's why I wasn't surprised that the Sioux did as well as they did in St. Cloud. The Sioux were playing much better than they were early in the season and the Huskies weren't playing as well. Finally, I realize that UND's 7-2 win at St. Cloud could be considered an anomaly in the stats because Goepfert barely played. But I'm not a fan of the "if you throw this/these game(s) out" school of thought for stats comparisons. The bottom line (to use Hakstol's favorite clich

This has all been argued here before. Go back and read the threads. I'm not going to argue it again.
