You don't know what you're talking about, and the more you keep harping on this, the more ridiculous you look. There was a game at the Ralph this year during which Lamoureux put his glove over the puck and a player from the opposing team slashed at his glove and knocked the puck in for a goal. After that, Phil got hacked, slashed and poked to the point where he went after one of the players who continued to slash at him. I don't remember which game it was, but Lamoureux talked about it afterwards and was quite upset about what had been allowed to happen. (I believe Brad Schlossman quoted Lamoureux about the incident in his Grand Forks Herald story.) There was also the blatant run and crosscheck on Lamoureux during the playoff series with Mankato. When you take into account what's happened to Lamoureux lately, his injury and the fact that his backup, Grieco, is out with an injury, I understand completely why he'd want the ref to know when the puck is in his glove.

I guess I can see it both ways. It's not good to lose momentum this time of year. I'd rather have UND going into the tournment as the team everyone fears. The Sioux had that going for them Friday and then gave it away Saturday against the Gophers. On the other hand, if the Sioux are going to lose a game and it helps teach them an important lesson that they carry to a national championship, then it was a good loss. After the Sioux lost to CC on Jan. 5, they went 8-0-3 until their next loss. After losing to Denver on Feb. 23, the Sioux went 5-0-1 until their next loss. If UND can put together a 4-0 winning streak from here on, I'll be happy to let Minnesota have the MacNaughton and the Broadmoor.

Sounds good to me.

Same for me. I appreciate the insight into countering the opposing team's tactics. There was a point in the SCSU-UND game when it was still close that the Huskies were doing a very good job of intercepting or blocking Sioux outlet passes to shut down their quick transition game. At the time, I was concerned, but apparently adjustments were made to counter whatever it was that SCSU was doing. Did anyone else notice this? If so, what did the Sioux do differently to adjust to it?

Thanks. That's all I need to know.

I think part of the Gopher fans' disdain for glove flashing comes from Woog and Mazzaoco, who started making a big deal of it with Karl Goehring and have continued to make a big deal of it for every Sioux goalie since. With them, it's like the phantom assists and getting out of the penalty box myths they continue to peddle about the Sioux and Grand Forks. They repeat it so much that Gopher fans get brainwashed into thinking that it should bother them, too. Personally, glove flashing doesn't bother me, nor does the jersey pop. I don't mind seeing a player celebrate when he does something good as long as it's not excessive.

And you know this because you've seen every goalie in college hockey play this season, right?

Wow. The thread police have come out of the woodwork.

I think if you saw how much Lamoureux has been hacked, slashed and poked with sticks after making a save, you'd understand why wants the ref to know the puck is in his glove when he has it. I don't think it's showboating. I think it's self-preservation.

This is one of those stories that raises more questions than it answers. It implies that money for the lawsuit has run out, but given Kupchella's comments from a few days ago, that doesn't seem to be the case.

Except he's a Bulldogs fan.

I'll bet that's what Nike was thinking when it designed the jersey.

Using Photoshop, I was able to improve one of forecheck's photos a bit.
-
The tactic didn't work well for SCSU at the Final Five, but they did have some success with it in past games.
-
It wasn't - unfortunately.
-
Sure. Anyone want bigger bustlines, too?

I didn't say it wasn't a good idea. I'm just not prepared to label Lucia a "genius" for using it when Motzko did it before him.
-
Genius? He stole the idea from Motzko.

You don't need to be sorry. It's a pretty easy mistake to make.

It looks as if the shooter didn't wait for the autofocus to work before snapping the photo. I'll see if I can't touch them up with Photoshop, but it'll be difficult to make the photos a lot better.

UND can continue to wear its current uniforms because of the injunction issued in North Dakota's lawsuit against the NCAA.

It was Kaip. With EJ hanging all over him, I'm surprised that Rylan got his stick on the puck at all.

And only with perfect 20/20 hindsight do you know just exactly how much harder Lee needed to skate to make the play. I suppose it's also Lee's fault that the puck suddenly stopped rolling milliseconds before Wheeler's stick made contact with it. That was something Lee should have known was going to happen, right?

Briggs looked shaky at times. I think the Sioux will do very well tomorrow night.
