Folks, this is why it's ridiculous to play games with the PWR numbers this time of year. The best insurance policy is to win and control your own destiny. Hakstol and the team understand that. It's why he keeps an eye on the big picture, but doesn't spend much time analyzing all the possible scenarios.

Yeah, and if Minnesota blows Wisconsin out of the water tonight, there will be people on this board fretting about playing the Gophers on their pseudo-home ice in front of 15,000 rabid Gopher fans. I'm happy that the one team UND doesn't have a win against this season is out of the tournament. But we have to beat SCSU first, so that's all I'm going to concern myself with until that happens.

Let's also not forget the quality of goaltending in the WCHA this season and Duncan's ability to consistently score goals on the top goalies in the league. Who on UND's team could do that? Who in the WCHA could do it? What college player in the nation could do it?

When a team scores zero goals, any goal let in is a killer.

Exactly. For the first 28 games of the season, Oshie, Toews and Duncan started together 14 times. And now everyone seems to forget that in the first half of the season, Duncan was the only one who consistently scored. Toews knows how much credit Duncan deserves for the line's success:

Without Toews and with Lamoureux and Oshie playing hurt? We now know how much of a difference it makes to have the DOT line healthy and Lamoureux playing at top speed. I agree that MTU was quite unimpressive and lacking in energy. I've seen them play much better games, but tonight the Huskies played on their heels from the drop of the puck. The Badgers are a team of playoff-seasoned veterans, and it showed tonight. Nobody should take them lightly.

Even though a play-in game team has never won it all? I think you're giving way too much credit to the Badgers. MTU played three games last weekend at high altitude on CC's frozen lake. I thought the Huskies lacked energy from beginning to end. They certainly weren't as good defensively as I expected them to be. And that was against an offensively challenged team. The Sioux need to win tomorrow's game and then we can worry about how likely they are to win Saturday.

I'm guessing that it has something to do with the fact that MTU hasn't exactly provided a lot of highlights in this game.

The most important thing is that Hakstol is 11-2-2 against Jutting.

And why should we complain?

According to Brad Schlossman's UND hockey blog, Troy Jutting will be around at MS-Mankato a while longer.

And if he continues to play the way he's been playing, the Sioux will be fine. I don't think UND is at a disadvantage in any category against any team in the Final Five. The one big advantage the Sioux have is the DOT Line.

Eric Schmoldt, USCHO's WCHA Correspondent, snubs the Sioux by picking them to win the Broadmoor Cup. UND has a 19-game unbeaten streak going? I can't agree with this statement by Schmoldt: If you look at overall goalie stats for the season, Lamoureux appears below average in the league. If you look at what he's done the second half of the season, he's been as good as anyone. The Sioux are not at a disadvantage in goal.

I wonder if he got charged for that?
