I was wondering if any Sioux fans familiar with the Xcel Energy Center would care to designate a meeting spot where we could congregate between periods or between games to discuss the games and other events. This would just be an informal designated area that we'd all know about if we cared to go there. Perhaps it would save time from hunting down each other's seats. So what's a good spot in the X?

It's nice to hear that the rumor I started is making the rounds.

No, I didn't say it was your fault. I was hoping that after going through this a dozen times, you'd figure out for yourself what was going on. You forgot Finley and Kozek. But otherwise, when you're right, you're right. I've got no argument with your main point.

Sorry. I didn't know the tournament was still in progress.

The number of people here who consistently rip on Kessel is smaller than the number of fingers on my hand. And my guess is that they do it just to antagonize thin-skinned Gopher fans like you. Perhaps if you weren't so willing to take the bait hook, line and sinker every time, the negativity about Kessel would subside.

If you don't like it, don't come here. Pretty simple, really.

If YaneA gives me her tapes, I can do the transfer to DVD, but it might be a couple of weeks before I get to it. I do have the third game of the series recorded on the hard drive of my DVD-R, so I don't need that tape.

That's the great part about this board: 100% Grade A Fighting Sioux spin 24/7. Ya gotta love it!

I thought I'd point out that the winter storm watch is now a winter storm warning. I was going to leave tomorrow morning so I could take in the UMD-SCSU game. This is going to screw up my travel plans.

I once heard Doug Woog interviewed on this subject. As I remember, he said that he looked at Karl and that Minnesota wanted him, but they were well-stocked at goalie at the time and couldn't offer him anything. Under those circumstances, I imagine that Woog probably didn't spend a whole lot of time pursuing Goehring.

From SI.com: Indian nicknames become non-issue in this year's tournament Amazing. I could have sworn that the NCAA news release said: And that Walter Harrison, president of the NCAA Executive Committe, said: So where, exactly, is it written that the NCAA policy pertains "only to American Indians"? And if that's true, why does Indiana get to play in the tournament?

All right! This will be one lively breakfast!

Do you call Sioux-cia "Grandma?"

So we should stop tracking goals and assists, too, because none of those stats reflect the true importance of every goal and every assist. Right? Using your logic, every goal scored after the game-winning goal is, for all intents and purposes, meaningless. Therefore, the only meaningful goals ever scored are game-winning goals and any goals that precede them. Everything after that is extraneous garbage.

Nice to know that you found the "edit" button.

So you've seen it already?

Holy crap! Don't let N.J. Petry of Bismarck see that!

So now I'm not invited? Are you afraid that I'll lecture runningwiththedogs on proper netiquette? I have a PowerPoint prepared, but it's only about a half-hour long.

I know where you're coming from, THETRIOUXPER. I'm done discussing this topic with Slappy because he either doesn't get it or simply wants to argue for the sake of arguing. I, too, get sick of his condescending "Gopher fans are so much better than this" approach to any post that's negative toward Minnesota. While I don't hang out or post on GPL, I've visited that board enough times to know that the fans over there aren't much different from the fans over here or the fans on USCHO. I've always considered it a complete waste of time to argue with fans of opposing teams on their own sites. If I want to read the Gopher fan spin, I visit GPL to see what it is, not to convince them that they're wrong for thinking like Gopher fans. So, here now, the dog.

SHHHHHH! Stop giving away my secrets!

You're completely missing the point. You're saying that game-winning goals is a "grain of salt" stat because some game-winning goals are more important than others depending on the circumstances under which which they were scored. I don't disagree with the idea that not all game-winners are of equal importance. However, I'm saying that the exact same logic can be applied to goals and assists. Some goals are more important than others. Some assists are more important than others. And some players who figure prominently in the scoring of a goal don't even show up in the stats. It's all relative, but it doesn't stop us from keeping track of goal and assists or using them to judge a player's performance. You could just as easily make the case that every goal scored after the game-winning goal was "meaningless" or worth only "a grain of salt," thus making the game-winning goal stat the most meaningful one of all.

I don't care if you care. The fact is that in a town of 50,000 people, having UND students gone on spring break and having other major sporting events competing for peoples' time has a significant impact on hockey attendance.
-
You don't suppose that spring break and having a college basketball tournament and a high school basketball tournament in town that weekend had anything to do with that, do you?
-
While I realize that the Oshie vs. Kessel posts get tiresome, some people in this thread were having a legitimate discussion about statistics, which is the thread's title.
