Some people said they didn't want any tax dollars funding the lawsuit. UND followed their advice. Now some those same people are complaining because UND did as they said. There's no pleasing some people.

As Hakstol said during his post-game comments, Porter redeemed himself Saturday after a poor performance on Friday. He did it not only by scoring, but also by hitting and playing great on special teams, especially the penalty kill. That's the kind of game and the kind of leadership the Sioux will need from Porter consistently for the rest of the season if they're going to finish strong.

That must have been the game broadcast in your alternative universe. The Sioux have already played Wisconsin four times and Maine twice. Minnesota's at the end of this month. Denver's next month. And maybe UND will have to play Michigan and Boston College in the playoffs as it did last season. Yes, the typical UND hockey schedule is just full of unknown patsies.

You're right. It won't work unless the rules are applied equally and consistently, which means that changing the culture of situational officiating that predominates in the WCHA must also change.

I agree, but I suspect the response from Bruce McLeod and Greg Shepherd would be: "Look at all the national champhionships won by WCHA teams. We must be doing it right!" Me too. I just wish the Sioux didn't have to be 4-7-2 at home before they played with some fire.

The problem is, the rest of the hockey world, including the NHL, is going in the opposite direction.

The headline "Public case is private" is also extremely misleading. The entire case is a matter of public record for anyone who wants to read it. The court proceedings are open to the public. Some did not want the the lawsuit funded by taxpayers, and it's not. It should be no surprise that some of those making private contributions choose to keep their donations anonymous. If the media and the name-change activitists wanted everything about the lawsuit to be public, then they should have demanded that tax dollars pay for it. As it is, they're trying to have it both ways, which is all too typical of the hypocrisy and double-standards surrounding this issue.

I was watching Fabian and a Seapup going at each other in front of the UAA goal. Then I heard a roar from the crowd and saw that Kaip and Anderson had dropped their gloves. What they were doing before that, I have no idea.

Speaking of emphasis, after watching goalie Nathan Lawson's helmet come off at least three times Friday night, whatever happened to the NCAA point of emphasis that came from this incident? As I recall, as a direct result of what happened to Merrimack goalie Joe Exter, the referee was given the responsibility of checking the goalie's helmet strap before the game to make certain it was secure and tight enough to keep the helmet on. And how many times is a goalie allowed to lose his helmet before a delay of game penalty is called?
