your last two points are right on, we gave up odd man rushes all weekend. JPL played fine, not stellar saturday, but good enough to win with some help from the rest of the team. marto was one of the better dmen out there saturday, one of the few guys with some jump in his legs, and i don't believe he was out there for any of the cc goals, so i don't know where the "laid egg" is coming from.

some valid points, and as you said it is your opinion, which you are entitled to. i don't think there is any comparison between prpich and radke. prpich could skate and be a scoring threat while providing that spark on the ice. i haven't seen anything out of radke this season that tells me he has earned that spot over martens. he continues to take untimely penalties while providing very little in the offensive zone. at least martens has been skating hard and cycling the puck well keeping it in the offensive zone. in my opinion, martens gives that fourth line some needed offensive punch. i do agree it would be nice to see a little emotion from him. maybe he needs to mix it up a little bit next time he's out there.

i don't know what games you were watching, but i was at both and thought martens skated well both nights. lapoint skates well, but as someone stated, he was out of position a few times last night. nothing that can't be fixed, i think he will be solid. marto looked right at home out there last night. he is one of the fastest players on the ice at any given time, moves the puck well, and jumped into the play nicely. the only knock on marto is his size, but we can't have six matt greenes. friday night, the only thing that really stuck out to me was that forney looked like he had tired legs in the third, as opposed to saturday when it looked like the entire team had tired legs. i really hope we don't see that saturday team on the ice too often this season but if anything, we know what they are capable of after the friday game, we just need a little consistency. and yes, sweatt is a player, he was one of the few players who had a complete weekend. the good news (for everyone except cc) is i think he will be gone after this year.

I'm sure this is posted elsewhere, but who are the other finalists. Is it surprising that Chapel is not a finalist or were his numbers not impressive enough (seemed pretty impressive to me).
-
thanks for the info, very insightful hopefully a big, strong, mean defenseman. i think matt greene has another year of eligibility, maybe we can talk him into another year once he comes back from his broken ankle
-
don't get me wrong, it sounded like he played a good game, but i don't think he is ready to step into the second line, yet. other players have earned their spots, and will most likely stay there. we will see, by the end of the year who knows.
-
we all know that goofers don't count
-
yeah, kane and toews have their work cut out for them this year if they have to go against alex for the calder this year...
-
i think ryan miller has been the only goalie to win it... that seems to have translated to the next level well, as he is a top notch nhl goalie.
-
ouch, that looked nasty. did they say if it was his ankle or leg? either way, i can't imagine he will be playing sooner than 12 weeks. tough break for matt. edit: he can take on SUV's, but breaks a bone in a freak collision, go figure.
-
i like all your picks az... but i say forney notches his first collegiate goal, and watkins has a multi-point weekend. oh hell, who cares as long as we sweeeeeeeeeeep! GO SIOUX!
-
back to the hobey watch... cstv has JPL, Osh, and Duncs #2-4 following Porter of mich. i know it is early, but pretty impressive to have three of the top four, especially from cstv.com, which seems to drool over hockey east.
-
im not a wisco supporter at all, but i think turris is the real deal. i wouldn't be surprised if he stayed in the top five in scoring all season... now the hobey is a stretch.

It's true that there is usually not a thread dedicated to a third or fourth liner getting playing time, but I think in this case we are just hoping to see some of that potential we know he has. He has first line talent, and I think we would all like to see it on the ice in a green and white jersey. In reguards to Radke... I agree with some of the previous posters that he is now the odd man out. I love his heart, he plays hard every shift, but his untimely penalties are too numerous and often. Oh well, it's fun to discuss, but I guess that is why Hak gets paid the big bucks to make those decisions GO SIOUX!
-
couldn't have said it better myself... they are not even close to in the same league. NDSU doesn't even play in the top division of college sports, and as triouxper stated, und is in the hunt for the national championship each year, and continue to send players on to the next level to be superstars. also, und hockey has peaked??? i don't even know where to begin there, so i won't .

sorry dan, i grew up out west and we never heard about bison football. sioux hockey is and always will be our number one team. like all the previous posts, a div. Iaa (sorry fsc) team beating a BAD (really bad) BCS team does not compare to all of the WCHA championships, Frozen Fours and national championships the sioux hockey team has. i'm not a bison fan, but was pulling for them to beat minnesota. posts like yours and all the short sighted people who are talking all this nonsense that the bison football team is now our top team is the main reason i was so tentative to root for them. oh well, i guess time will tell the real story. this is a once in a lifetime win for bison football, the fighting sioux hockey team gets these wins (multiple) every season. GO SIOUX!

same scenario, power outage, melting ice, but will play tonight. does anyone know if it is 815 eastern or central? it just said 815, so i assume it is local boston time.

I still would like to see Forney get his chance, maybe he's not ready yet? If Forney can't go, I think Marto is the extra who travels. I don't know about his on ice skills, but saw Davidson at the game Saturday, he is one BIG freshman . -
I'm confused what any of this has to do with whats up with Forney, but I am easily confused . Did the coaches try to get him a medical redshirt for last season? or is that not possible since his surgery wasn't during the season? just wondering, when he finally is healthy, we may want that extra year.
-
It should be a hell of a game. I think we need to get on the scoreboard early, as it seems Lerg rides the momentum if he is hot early. I agree that the four scratches will probably be Davidson, Martens, Forney and Marto, although I agree with the earlier post about Radke's untimely lapses of judgement. It would be nice to see what a healthy Forney can do. I also think we will see alot of flip flop with Marto and LaPoint, until one of them steps up and claims the postition as his own.
-
It was fun to be back at the rink last night! I thought most of the team skated very well. As for the debate between LaPoint and Marto, Marto definitely looked more comfortable out there than LaPoint last night. That doesn't mean that Marto gets the spot over him or that he is any less talented than we all thought, all it means is he was a little shaky his first time in a Sioux jersey. LaPoint was on the ice and out of position on Manitobas first two goals, take that for what it is worth. I agree with the majority that neither of them will take the place of our returning starting five, but I can see Hak giving both of the freshman equal time and opportunity to prove themselves. It seems a few of us have already given that sixth spot to LaPoint, but from what I saw last night, Marto looked pretty damn good. GO SIOUX!
-
Not to be confused with our most recent former Sioux goalie... how about just Phil or Philly... it's short and easy to write. JP just reminds me of Jordy.

People didn't want this in the hockey section, so I guess it goes here, even though it is sports related, not community. Here's the most recent GF Herald story (via the Forum) in reguards to Bunings LOA. I guess the grumblings were true. Can we start to speculate who the new AD will be now? http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm?id=178678 Hope the link works, first time posting one. Not much of a surprise, but interesting it was made public.

though i'd love to see an all sioux hobey hat trick, it won't happen and actually i don't see okposo being there either. you know there will be at least one east coast kid, possibly porter from mich if he can do it without hensick and cogliano, and there always seems to be a goalie who steps up and carries his team, bishop from maine (if he is still around) was pretty solid last year and scheider from bc is finally gone (sioux fans cheer loudly) i don't know who i pick from our three to take the final two slots though... i change my mind, i'll go with chorney, duncs and osh.
