Wow - appears to be bad news. We seem to get our share of it. I imagine the positive of it happening now is it gives the team a little bit of time to prepare. Maybe leaves a chance of coming back for part of the season. Any chance of still bringing in a FBS player if needed?

Just over six fricking weeks till the opening game!. Can it be so? How long has it been since UND has had all this preseason hype? I am pumped!

I wonder if having three commitments at this time is good or bad or if we shouldn't read into it?

What are your predictions and thoughts for the first three games of 2017? Just over two months to go!! Generally we should be able to score more points. Our defense will be even better in 2017 but we are playing some good teams. Stay healthy. @ Utah - lose 27-21 Studs comes out like the steady leader we need him to be but the competition talent level is too much to overcome. Missouri State - Win 35-10 A game we should win at home. I will be there with my first time season pass waving my new Hawks flag! @ South Dakota - Win 45-28 Lots of points but we will be able to outscore teams this year.

I feel the same way 512. You didn't say anything wrong. Appears to be the reality right now. That said. Lots of talent out there.

After years of being underpaid (my opinion even though he wasn't the best coach and behaved badly at time) I can see why Jones wants to cash in.

Excited but nervous for 2017. All comes down to your record and a few games come down to the breaks.

What do we know? Do we know if they are negotiating salary? Years of contract? Talking to each other at all? Assistant coaches salary? Incentive compensation? Are we sure Jones is even wanted back or if Jones wants to come back? Do fans want Jones back? Seems like he was darn near the worst coach ever up till halfway through last year. Which coach is Jones - the one who started or ended last year?

A while back I was asking about if UND was now in position that everyone we offered a scholarship to had the potential to succeed. It appeared to me that there were some that were offered that had a small chance to make the field. QBs come to mind. Now, it seems, we are getting more and more players that have a good chance of succeeding. Life is good and getting better for UND football fans.

I am wondering, with all the hype for 2017, what you would consider a successful season. First off, win the conference. Second, secure a bye in the playoffs and with it a 2nd round home playoff game. I would like a third round home game in the playoffs. I would consider it to be very successful season at this point.

It appears to me that we will be better with more depth in all positions in 2017 compared to 2016. Pretty impressive. Any thoughts?

If I was smart enough to know all the different groups that comprise a football team I would list them. It seems like we have a good chance to be better and have more depth at these positions: Quarterback, running back, tight end, offensive line, defensive line, linebackers, safeties, special teams - what did I miss? In other words, it appears we will be better in all the positions in 2017 compared to 2016.

NDSU and evil do kinda go together in my mind.

I know it is hard but another big accomplishment this year is the rebalancing of how many sports UND supports. This allows UND to be more competitive with the sports that are most followed. Today announced the end of men and women swimming and diving and with women's hockey - for us to look back at how great this year has been.

Moving on to football. Lots of great UND sports to always be looking forward to!!!

I declare the west regional is the biggest, most prestigious & most fun sporting event in Fargo in 2017.
