  1. It is hard to imagine that coaches would mix up the two schools, but looking at what happened it is possible. The other thing that comes to mind is that a bye week does give your team a chance to heal up, etc. But....does a bye week cost you in the polls?

  2. Well, since the school that I attended (St. Cloud Technical College) does not have a team, I cheer for the team from my hometown whose games I attended from the time I was about 8 or 9 years old. Now let me guess what your predictable response is going to be...

Attending a school that does not have a team makes me a loser, right? :silly:

Since I wanted to get into graphics, I chose a school that offered a good graphics program over schools that have teams.

Whoever came up with the concept that only alums of the school can be fans of their teams is a narrow-minded imbecile. :glare:

I am just giving you !@#$......it is good for teams to have passionate fans....whether or not they went to school there or not. It actually would be interesting to know how much support for either school is not alums.....I suspect there is quite a bit.

I would never be critical of the tech colleges or the people they turn out. It would be a damn rough world to live in if there were no Tech grads.

  3. Isn't the NDSU fight song officially called "We are the Pride"? See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/We_are_the_Pride

NDSU's marching band is the Gold Star Band but in the past was sometimes called the Pride of North Dakota.

SDSU's marching band is called the "Pride of the Dakotas".

Indeed you are correct......but then again, UND still stole the logo from Notre Dame.....so that probably would not stop them....LOL ;)

  4. A. You don't even know me, so you have no clue what state I am a native of or where I attended higher education.

    B. It makes no difference what state I am a native of or where I attended higher education.

    C. You're proving yourself to be nothing more than a troll here just trying to instigate stuff with me. You're no better than Johnboy or 4mcrue.

Davey, Davey........why don't you cheer for the team where you attended school? LOL!!!

  5. Okay, I stand corrected. I still don't think they will be favored again this year, as the Bison are nowhere near as good as they were in '07 and I don't think the Gophers are nearly as weak as they were in '07... but I'm still suprised that this line favored NDSU even in '07. So I will retract my statement that a I-AA can never be favored over a D1. In rare cases where a great I-AA plays a terrible D1 the I-AA can actually be favored.

See, now who says I can't admit it when I've been proven wrong?

The way the Gophers are playing Miami, I would think that NDSU would not be favored. Minnesota is clearly better than the last time we played them.

  6. So now I'm a Minnesota guy? Okay, I don't have a problem with that as Minnesota is my favorite D1 team... but you do realize that my favorite team overall when you combine D1 and I-AA together is North Dakota, right? Not sure how that makes me a Minnesota guy. Not that I mind being called a Minnesota guy, but... yeah, whatever.

You are no native North Dakotan and you never even attended higher education here. You are a wannabe......on the outside looking in.

  7. I'm in Williston with Midco and I have it. I made an AT&T account last year to watch the hockey regionals on ESPN3. That could always be an option for you if you don't have Midco.

The ATT option no longer works. They have separated the att.net email accounts from those who actually have ATT internet service. Only those with actual ATT internet can access it now. This ESPN3 stuff suck donkey balls for those of us with out a cooperating isp. I am pissed at the Valley for putting some games on ESPN3.

  8. Correct. I to this day still wear my Winnipeg Jets jersey. I got in 1993 then they moved in 96 still wore it. Will I get a jersey with their new logo..maybe but I will always wear my Jets jersey because its who I like. I still have a Sioux hockey jersey with the old Sioux logo on it from the late 90's (i can't remember what name they give that logo geometric or something like that), but even though I don't wear their current logo doesn't mean I don't support it or love it. I still have a Central Redskins jacket, do I say go Redskins sure but I also say go Knights. It just takes time.

It is just the same as a lot of folks on this board like to take jabs at NDSU being the AC. To me that is no insult at all. I am proud of the agriculture background of NDSU and of North Dakota. It is a great history and one that no NDSU alumnus or North Dakotan should ever forget.

By the way.....the new Jets logo is pretty classy.

  9. I have no problem believing it was 50 to 1, as that is the trend that I have seen state-wide. The Bison have a strong following in the city of Fargo but the Sioux have a strong following in the entire state of North Dakota (including Fargo).

LMAO.....this from the Minnesota guy that lives in Fargo.....who never attended a North Dakota institution of Higher Education......LMAO. Funny $#it there Davey!!

  10. IMO, Drake is better than St. Francis, but Lafayette is better than Drake.......................

But.....if either UND or NDSU had a team that was the quality of any of those 3 we would all be bitching about our team. They are the warm ups.....and a warm up game or two has its place. But, they could come back and bite you if you are lacking in quality wins and that keeps you out of the playoffs.

  11. No, I am not claiming that Drake is a quality opponent. I don't think they're quite as weak as Lafayette or St. Francis, but they are weak. I don't know yet who has a better product on the field between UND and NDSU this year as we have not seen enough of either team vs. similar caliber competition. Last year NDSU was clearly better while UND was clearly better the year before, this year remains to be seen. If NDSU proves to be the better team this year I will have no problem admitting it, just as I admitted that they were better last year.

What I was claiming is that only an idiot would use attendance as a measure of who is the better team. The Chicago Cubs sell out every game while the Tampa Bay Devil Rays can hardly give tickets away, yet the D-Rays have clearly been a more successful team than the Cubs on the field in recent years. So take your snide remarks about attendance and stick them where the sun doesn't shine. :glare:

Hell Davey.......I agree with the first part of your quote. No need to be such a testy feller......:0:lol:

  12. Since the Fargodome holds roughly 5000+ more than the Alerus I would think the Fargdome would host all playoff games between UND and NDSU. But reguardless of venue it will be the Super Bowl of the upper midwest.

I would say that depends. What if UND boosters put up a sellout plus a large amount of cash..... I would say the NCAA would go where the most money is. Now.....that is for the opening round games. I do believe if you are high enough ranked to get a "bye" you are assured of a home game for your first game.

  13. Does the host team go to the higher seeded team or does the NCAA have different criteria? Would the Fargodome always host over the Alerus?

I think the NCAA looks at the bids.......meaning it is all about money. What ever school bids the most would get the game. My understanding was NDSU significant bid over Robert Morris last year. When a school bids, they are making a guarantee of so many asses in the seats. Since the NCAA runs these games, they get the gate from the game and that is their revenue. Anything involving the NCAA is usually about the cash.....LOL!

  14. Yes, because attendance is so much more important than the quality of the product on the field. :silly:

You can be such a tool.

So, you are claiming Drake is a quality opponent? And....you are claiming that UND has a better product on the field than NDSU? Such stupid statements as that even make UND fans shake their heads....LOL. Damn.....I am glad you are not a product of North Dakota Higher Education. It would be an insult to any ND school.......

I do think that it is tough to judge either team based on the competition faced so far. The patsies tell us very little. All need to see how the season develops and how the teams do in conference play.

  15. While the Sioux may not be anywhere near where I would like them to be (ranked among the top 25 of I-AA) that does not mean they're awful. Objectively speaking you would have to admit that they're somewhere in between "top 25" and "awful". North Dakota is an average middle of the pack caliber I-AA team at this point in time. If you want to see what awful teams look like, just check out NDSU's two most recent opponents.

Oh yes Davey......and Drake was such a quality opponent. The Sioux fans all got a woody over that one. That is why your attendance was so massive for that game. LMAO!

  16. UND will probably get thumped by Fresno State, but I would think that almost any FCS team would expect to get beat. I would also say it is tough right now to say how NDSU will fare once the Bison play MN and in the conference part of the season. These first two games don't really tell how they will fare against tough competition. I did not get a chance to see the Idaho game so I can't really comment. But, a loss to Fresno State doesn't say a whole lot about the Sioux Football team as it is just a money game played against what appears to be a decent FBS team.
