  1. You are setting yourself up for disappointment. I have first hand knowledge there are players involved in this. I won't divulge names because they may not be charged at BB's discretion, and for their sake I hope they just apologize, admit their foolishness, and return the stuff. However, that does not mean that you won't see a handful more players disciplined for 'violating team rules". Believe or don't believe it, that's up to you, but be careful how forcefully you argue against athlete involvement. I'd advise against placing any monetary wagers on this as well.
  2. I think most of them post from the Fargo Public Library so I don't think BB was too worried.
  3. A source told me that was Best Buy's call. They wouldn't press charges if the items were just returned.
  4. I will be schocked if The Forum or WDAY spend a dime to cover NDSU sports on the road. The Forum coverage of Bison athletics expanded significantly after the move up. I think Bison fans will be treated to a series of comparatively small wire reports in the paper when the Bison aren't playing in Fargo. From that perspective, I think the Fargo Bison fans will regret how this was handled. Not necessarily that the radio rights left WDAY per se, but that Forum Comm wasn't given something to keep them interested in the Bison athletic fold.
  5. Who was he selling to?
  6. And then there's this from KFAN.com MOUSE DROPPINGS BY JONMOUSEMIKKELSON RATHER FRUSTRATED AFTER HIS GOPHS WERE BOUNCED FROM WCHA PLAYOFFS When talking about no class, I'm not talking about a Bob Huggins-coached basketball team. No Class means UND hockey. Just watch this pathetic team. They do something stupid on the ice, go sit in the penalty box and look up at their bench with that "coach, are you proud of me? Did you see me do that cheap shot? Did I do good, coach?" look on their face. Then the camera shows that smug grin on coach's face. If he's not doing that, he's bitching at the ref on why his player got called for his cheap shot. Hakstol, you probably aren't reading this because I doubt they have internet in Grand Forks, but if you are, how about coaching hockey? Not only are the usual suspects Malone, Hextall, Blood, MacWilliam and Lamoureux auditioning for the movie "Slapshot," now even the non-goons are getting into the act. Matt Frattin. Watch out Duluth Bulldogs Thursday night, you're next......... On to the Gophers.... The Edina Hornets had multiple Division 1 players in 2008 and 2009..... Didn't win the big one. 2010, no D1 players, they win the championship. They worked hard and had no press clippings to fall back on. Minnetonka this year, 4 D1ers, didn't win. Just because you're drafted (or expected to be drafted high), doesn't mean you can coast around the ice waiting to get paid. 2 years ago, I looked at this team and was worried we'd lose some of these phenoms to the NHL. Schroeder, Hoeffel, Fairchild, Kangas, Ness.... I don't worry about that any more. I'm in the 10% that want Coach Lucia to return, but, From Don to John Hill on down to the players, they all have to look in the mirror and decide if they want to play hard and win, or google themselves on how great they're suppose to be...... Anyway, Go Tubby! Go Bulldogs, wipe that bleep-eatin' grin off the Sioux and their coach!
  7. The Sioux played Wednesday at Chicago State, spent Thursday night in a hotel in Detroit where their connecting flight was canceled (if you are not flying non-stop between Chicago and New York City, that is the epitome of cost-consciousness WOW
  8. How are we defining "closer"? I would be happy with a 15pt loss. A 20pt loss will suffice. a 20+ pt loss will certainly be understandable. Everyone decides for themselves what the expectations for this team are.
  9. It's the excessive use of punctuation...!!! ???
  10. The Cincy-Fla matchup is interesting, and the title game should be good. Outside of that, I'm not very excited for the bowl season and I normally watch nearly every game.
  11. What does Faison give Taylor? Play almost every year? 3 out of 4 years with an opt out if one of the big boys wants to play on that date?
  12. Who blinks first?
  13. I wonder what the athletic department's projections are for this? I mean they must (hope?) have had a 5-10 yr plan, when they were considering adding the sport, when they felt the program would reach that goal.
  14. I don't know what the chances are. I haven't heard anything positive regarding expansion from the MVFC. I've only read hopefull speculation that one or more current members will leave. Certainly nothing like what is happening in the Summit league. It's unfortunate because the program needs to be in an autobid conference for football when this transition is over. On the Sioux sports show Muss was asked his thoughts on the Great West. I expected the standard fare of "tough from top to bottom, gotta show up every week...", etc. He started to say that, then shifted gears and talked about the need to add more teams so the conference can get an autobid. Clearly that weighs heavily on his mind for the future of the program, as well it should. Maybe with Chapman gone UND will have more of an ally in the MVFC, I don't know.
  15. I think these scheduling difficulties have gone on long enough. NDSU wanted a pound of flesh from UND, and it's been paid in full. Scheduling USD would be overkill and hopefully the public and media will start asking some pointed questions of Gene Taylor.
  16. Well played...
  17. Some scuttlebutt on the coyote board. I wonder how the AD feels about the head coach giving out this info?
  18. Judging from the comments I from Gene I heard on radio today, they just aren't handling the type of in your face defense the way they need to. They just need to get adjusted to the speed and intensity of the D1 game.
  19. Let's not get overly nostalgic here. I enjoy outdoor football too, but Memorial had its own attendance problems in cold weather even in the 90s with good teams. The Alerus made the football program among the best in attendance nationally in D2. The atmosphere was better outside, but find me a dome team whose fan base doesn't make that same claim.
  20. If only this argument took place in 2002...the irony.
  21. Matt

    Cal Poly vs UND

...and it ain't movin anytime soon IMHO
  22. Matt

    Cal Poly vs UND

Between Fargo and Grand Forks this year, if I had a nickel for every time a prediction included the words "offense and defense finally come together"...
  23. No, but having high school spring ball is a big advantage.
  24. They need Wagner.
