I felt muss was restrained. I'd have called them a bunch of damn pu$$ie$.

We are looking at this from the wrong perspective. Look at each position, and evaluate him against the all conference player at his position. There's your bar. The guys currently on the roster had better pack a lunch because there's A LOT of work to do to meet those expectations.
-
Don't feel bad. You are far from the only person to be waayyyy off in the evaluation of the talent on this roster.
-
Hard to believe this team stinks so bad with a description like that.
-
So, how do we feel about this team going to play a Portland St team that has had two weeks to prepare? Key PSU Metrics: Passing Offense: 17th nationally Yards per completion: 1st nationally Rushing Offense: 11th nationally Scoring Offense: 29th nationally Total Offense: 3rd nationally Turnover Margin: 118th nationally Defensive stats are middle of the pack, and their offense will fumble. Best case, the UND offense can get their s**t together and the defense focuses on stripping the ball. I'm not optimistic about containing the PSU offense.

The argument about the nuances of ndsu's power game doesn't matter. I agree with you-this roster is incapable of that style of play. They aren't even coached up well enough to run their current style well. If the next coach wants to implement an ndsu style of play, the roster will need to turn over. Those horses are not on the current roster.
-
Ultimately it doesn't matter. It would take UND another 4 yrs and a new roster to implement that style of play. This roster can't be effective with the finesse style for which it was assembled, let alone line up and run it down someone's throat, playing for field position and time of possession, with good defense.

In one year this offense has gone from among the most prolific in the country to one of the worst. The drop off in level of play is perhaps the most obvious at the QB position. As Tom Miller pointed out, since redshirt freshman quarterback Joe Mollberg was named the starter, he’s thrown for no touchdowns and six interceptions. In the last four weeks, UND’s quarterbacks have thrown one touchdown to eight picks. However, despite familiar names back on the O-line, has that unit's level of play dropped off significantly from last year or did last year's veteran signal callers simply make them look better than they were? The drop off is so bad the question is worth asking: who/what is responsible for the lack of production?

Insider quotes? Boy, the public is just clamoring for those.
-
For the record, the ac lost at home to Mankato in '91, and beat NE Missouri at home in '92 before losing to Pitt St on the road. The great playoff drought began in '93 when UND took their rightful place as rulers of the quonset.

He'll care come budget time.

There were 94 other yards over which the D could've felt free to make a stop.
-
...and a bad penalty ruins another drive.
-
The offense isn't looking too bad...they're only 1 TD off last week's pace.
-
that's a common style of offense these days. They get lined up, force the D to show an alignment and signal a play before the D can roll into a different look.
-
If they scrapped every INT play that Joe throws, what will be left?
-
A "major breakthrough' would be playing a turnover free/penalty free game.
-
With the expanded field I guess someone has to get in, but man, if your best win is NAU and you got crushed at home by everyone that matters...playoff expansion feels a lot like D2.

Interesting ruling on the Golliday fumble. Muss said on his show with Hammer that the ruling is that if another offensive player continues to push the ball carrier forward, the refs won't call it down right away. Muss said they coach the players to not push the pile like that (presumably in open field situations not pertaining to first downs or tds).

Everything clicks vs bad teams. 31-17 UND.

Again, this comes to what Tibesar's goals are. If his goal is NFL HC, then choosing to leave the league (I say "choose" because getting fired & taking whatever job you can get is another matter) doesn't help as much as continuing on the NFL coordinator path. If you want Tibesar to UND, the best bet is to hope he gets fired and can't catch on with another team.
-
If you can run the ball effectively, you will beat this team. That's why on the road vs NAU and PSU are losses.
-
If you want to stay in the NFL, you don't choose to leave the NFL.

This is football. It isn't that complex.
