  1. Sidney Poitier won an Oscar for best actor in 1964 for his role in Lillies of the field. He was the 1st Black man to win one. He maybe best known for his role in Guess Who's Coming To Dinner the interracial thing with Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. I liked his movie To Sir With Love which came out in 1967. In that movie LuLu sings that classic. LuLu looks pretty good 40 years later. This song has a great beat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIal_bR9gHY LuLu - To Sir With Love
  2. Very good history lesson. Those guys were Junk Yard Dogs. We need some more Junk Yard Dogs on defense.
  3. Thanks Shawn-O. Shawn-O That's a catche name. Kind of like in the movie Jackie Brown. Ordells [ Samuel L Jackson } lawyer is called Stassen Gowens. Great name for a lawyer. Ordell says he meaner than a junk yard dog. That's what the Sioux football team needs on defense. Some junk yard dogs. I'm working on some songs. There's only about a million to choose from. I'm trying to keep it solid as you would say.
  4. When Mertens was the QB at EGF and Jake Landry was the QB at Central there was a debate as to who was the better high school QB in the Grand Cities. Does anybody have an opinion. Mertens lead the Green Wave to a state championship in Minnesota. Then Landry led Central to a state championship in N.D. They beat a very good Fargo South junior dominated team. The next year Fargo South won the state title. Some say that South team may be the states best ever team. If they are that Central team in not far behind. Probaly on par.
  5. Dale Lennon I believe wanted to move up years ago. He said the Sioux should be playing the Northern Iowas, Montanas, Northern Arizonas. He was an advocate of this even before the Bison. I'm happy he is taking his shot moving up in the coaching ranks. I hope he wins there and get's a job at one of the major colleges. Us Sioux fans are really looking forward to the Bison game with Southern Illionis or at least I am. The hype might be better than the game. Since the Gophers won't play you what game excites you Bison fans more Wyoming or Southern Illinios?
  6. I am a big fan of Quentin Tarantio. They say his real genius is the choice of actors he casts for his movies. Jackie Brown is one of those movies. Just watched it again. Robert Deniro, Samuel L. Jackson, Chris Tucker and Pam Grier, alot of woman there. I love that 70's psychedelic soul sound. Strawberry Letter #23 by the Brothers Johnson is one of those in this movie. But that's just me. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rWa5w6enUgV&NR=1 Samuel L. Jackson and Chris Tucker funny stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vbxUtFDKz8k Strawberry Letter #23
  7. Looking back at last years stats on UND's rushing defense we are not at the level we are acustom to. Western Washington 194 yards, Nebraska Omaha 340 yards, South Dakota 260 yards and Grand Valley 280 yards. Not good. We seem to be lacking the big nose guard we have had for the past 15 years or so. Rocky Hager could never handle our nose guard. It proably got him fired. What's the word on the D line. How is this Bellmore kid from West Fargo? And of course the competion has just gotten better. Any one?
  8. There maybe one position the Sioux better than the Bison. Quarterback. Danny Freund last year 209-308 67.9% and he is a proven leader. His backup Jake Landry at 6'4 is supposed to have a cannon. Nick Mertens the East Side kid hasn't played much football the past few years but I will be rooting for him. How well the Bison have done with alot of Minnesots and Noth Dakota kids does prove both schools could have made the jump in football years ago.
  9. Any word on what happened to these players? Some were highly recruited.
  10. Thanks for answering my question. But I prefer to hear what an ex Sioux coach has to say. I know you do not like to have common opponents but we do. It will show where we are. I worry about our defense. I think the offense can compete.
  11. Newsweek Feb. 2005 President Bush was asked what his favorite song was. He said George Bakers' Little Green Bag'. Can't you picture George Bush with that Little Green Bag in 1969 the year the song came out. George Baker born Dec. 1944 in Hoon Netherlands. Quentin Tarantino used the song in his movie Reservoir Dogs. This link has Tarantino with George in 2008. Great Song. Live Long George Baker. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xRNJmgPO9M
  12. Maybe someone who knows an ex Sioux coach now at Southern Illinois can tell us how the Sioux compare to the talent there.
  13. If your going to spend 25 million on a state of the art practice facility don't hide it. Show case your University. When potential students and other visitors come to UND put it right in there face just like the Ralph. No matter where it is the athletes will get there. Look where they play softball and baseball a mile off campus. Let's hope it happens.
  14. Big Oil Conspiracy try these http://www.conspiracyplanet.com Test to see where you are politicially http://www.politicalcompass.org/
  15. There are more Democrates than Republicans in the US so there are alot of Brain Sick people. Can any of you right wingers tell me how the least conservative guy running for President, Mccain, got the nomination. Every Republican I talk to say they can't stand him. Is the process rigged?
  16. I am a Hillary supporter. Because it puts Bill back in the White House. He is as James Carville says the most popular man in the world. He is the smartest President of my lifetime. Obama is an enigma to me. What kind of a cabinet would he have. I was listning to Air America and the Liberal talk show host asked this question. Most Americans when polled say they would vote for a Black man for President. But when they get behind the curtain will they. He is afraid there is still alot of racism in America. Obama may be the best thing of our lifetime who knows. I personally think Hillary has the best shot in November.
  17. http://youtube.com/watch?v=4Y4UK8SCByI listening to Mac Talk today on KNOX he had this Junior Walker and The All Stars classic, What does it take, as his bumper music. This song never gets old never gets boring. Makes me think back to being parked in the country with my girl friend. The only lights on were from the dash board. That was 39 years ago boy does time fly.
  18. http://www.leejharris.com/ He is a professional singer.
  19. http://www.youtube.com?v=H1HjIxs8vPI# Lionel Richies Still is one great love song. This 22 year old man Lee J Harris sings this as well as Lionel. This is not very good quality. Links to Lionel singing it is on the same page.
  20. Yes I know it is a sales tax. Lower income people get rebate checks. Is this not correct?
  21. Do I believe in a social safety net for the American people? Yes I do. I also believe what Byron Dorgan said was right when he was asked why do you think the government can solve all the problems of the American people. He said the government should only step in where the private sector has failed. Is this the case with Health Care. Crop Insurance. As far as taxes go the fair tax intrigues me.
  22. Sorry I have to defend team ND. As fine a group of representatives as in any state in the US. There is a reason they get relected all the time. They have common sence. Iwill quit since this is off topic.
  23. The Democrates pretty much controlled congress for 40 years. It took that long to have a major scandal. The House Banking Scandal. Newt Gingrich broke this one because he wanted to do the right thing. Ya right. Congress has an approval that is deserving. The Republicans have done such a good job of selling us down the river the middle class will never recover. The people of the US trust neither party because of the policys of Bush and the Republicans.
  24. When I hear Allen Greenspan a republican applaude what the Clinton administration did for fiscal sanity it speaks volumes. What do you want fiscal sanity or as VP Cheney says deficits do not matter. All you have to do is watch Lou Dobbs on CNN to see how off the wall these Republicans have been.
  25. Do you know what people are sick of. People who say they are fiscially responsible (Republicans). They put us into debt and sell the middle class to the lowest bidder. Plus they take bribes. Real classy bunch the last 10 years.
