  1. Central v Bismarck High in the state championship game. Also Cepis get credit for the game winner for the goofs. He just happened to be the last Gopher to touch the puck as the Duluth defender appears to knock the puck in his own net. Cepis (once again) acts like he's never scored before.

Yeah thats getting annoying. Watching him celebrate after he scored the one where he interfered with the goalie (which didn't count) left me shaking my head.

  2. Wow what a dumb penalty on Fairchild in the UM-UMD game. BTW who do we want to win between the Dogs and the Gophs? I would like 4th but most of all I want to make sure we play CC first round.

  3. Anybody watching the Gophers game? Do you agree with the call?

Sure wasn't a "check". Schroeder just got schooled by getting "pushed" with one hand. Yea, it was dangerous but all the Bulldog player did was push him with one hand. Didn't even really put his weight into it.

Probably the reason they gave him 5 for boarding instead of a CFB.

  4. Did anyone else read Teresa Spisak's latest pile of crap on USCHO yet? Her article is about head injuries, and says that Corban Knight elbowed Connolly in the head and gave him a black eye when his head hit the glass "even though the video replay didn't clearly show it". :silly:

Wow....what video was she looking at? Nice speculation...that video showed nothing of the sort. And as I stated in another thread, his black eye could have come anytime. There's no way she could prove that it came from that check.

That really pi$$es me off. I'm not a member over there (after getting booted years ago), or I would have let her have it...so hopefully one of you that is on USCHO will take care of it...What a crock! :D

I try to avoid her articles. You could go to any local elementary school and find many a kid that had more hockey knowledge than her.

  5. Knowing St Cloud I highly doubt their players would drop the gloves. This is a team that has prided itself on low penalty totals. With the Shepherds there everyone will be looking for the Sioux to retailiate. The way you do this is hit them every time they touch the puck, make them pay to get into the zone, and pay special attention to Roe and Lasch so that by the end of the game their entire team is battered and bruised but even more importantly we are ahead on the scoreboard. Play physical, tough hockey and win the game.

Like I said, if we challenged Marvin or anyone else to go I'm guessing we'd see them hiding behind their coach.

    Just win baby!

I see your point but there is also a downside to not fighting. Everyone (including Shep and Hunt) knows this series could be a powder keg. They are going to be watching everything like hawks. If the Sioux try to play physical, I think they could end up taking a lot of penalties. Borderline high hit? Sit for elbowing. Hard hit in the corner? Boarding. They are not going to let this series get away from them. Best thing would be to drop them early and take care of it. Then everyone can play hockey and the refs might feel more inclined to swallow the whistles.

  6. They do kick people off if they are against the logo. The rules are not followed if attack is against someone who is against the logo. They are free game for the supporters. Though if an anti-logo does the same to a pro-logo they are gone.

Well I have yet to see a nickname opponent come on here without attacking everyone from the local postman to Ralph himself to Ra, the egyptian sun god. So I think their bans are probably well deserved.

  7. Since it appears you're on a roll today with your posts, I'll respond to this one.

The whole game of hockey, especially in the WCHA, has changed to a defensive game. Basing your theory on stats about where certain players would compare to player's of 20 years ago is just plain dumb.

How many points would Hrkac put up in today's league? 50-60 at best in my IMO.

I would have to agree with you. Just take a look at the goalies from that era in the pregame video. Of course a ton of goals are going to be scored when the goalie just stands there and tries to catch the puck with his glove. The style of play in goalies is totally different from that era to now. Shooters had openings all over to shoot at. Now, you either have to be a sniper or have a darn good move to score.

  8. At least in the East, it is a very weird season. Normally you have a top group of teams. Not so much this year. For example, even though Grafton beat Central and Red River, they also lost to most of the Fargo teams, including North. But then North went and lost to DL, who hasn't beat any of the top teams. I think it is going to be a heck of a regional tournament. I really think some teams just match up better with others and depending on who plays who, there could be some surprises sneaking in. I woud say everyone in the top 7 have a chance to make state. It all depends on their opponents over that 3 day stretch.

  9. I remember that article that you wrote and I remember how disgusted I was when I read it. I applaud Jeanotte for what he did. I've re-read some of your previous posts and it's obvious to me how extremely xenophobic you are.

Example: "If I want diversity, I'll go eat at Juano's downtown", "To who? Almost exclusively to grad students and students who arrive from outside the state and country...mostly though to foreign students", "You don't think there are American students being passed over for foreign students for the sake of diveristy, multiculturalism, blah, blah, blah".

And these were the quotes from just one topic. I won't even get into some of the things you have said about Native Americans on this forum.

I should have put two and two together and realized that you were the same one that wrote that article. I won't give your name on this forum, but as an optometrist in the city of Fargo, you should be ashamed of some of the things that you have said. I am a family care physician in Fargo and 50% of my patients are from the minority Latino and East African populations. A certain level of compassion and understanding for those less privileged than us comes with being a medical professional, and it's obvious that you lack that sense. You need to be responsible for the things you write. I hope someday that you will change your viewpoints on these populations that you serve, at least for the sake of your patients.

Wow! :( I'm speechless. I could break this post down and comment on how its wrong on so many levels but I really don't have the time. So instead I will just leave you with Wow.

  10. I have to think Dell will get a start. Sure he had a rough night when he started at home against St. Cloud but as mentioned, BE hasn't been sharp either. I think a rotation between the two might be what we need in net. Both just need to concentrate on being shutdown for one night per weekend.

  11. It wouldn't be the Final Five if I couldn't look across the ice and see 01grad.

That said, from my own personal selfish perspective I'm all for 2 games on Thursday and 2 on Friday, 1 on Saturday.

I always felt like Thursday night's game was just a prelude to the big show. Then you have 1 big day, Friday. Saturday afternoon's game is kind of a 'bleh'. It's ok, but carries little of the emotion of the other games in the tournament. Then, of course, is the big showdown Saturday night.

To have 2 very important games on Thursday, IMO, would significantly increase the drama of the tournament.

With Saturday afternoon off, families from out of town could spend some time goofing off and doing whatever families want to do with some free time.

I do totally get that it requires extra time from work and might be more difficult for some people to attend. I'm a little neutral given that angle. But from a sporting perspective only, I think the 2-2-1 idea is exactly the way to go.

Well said. Having 2 games on Thurs would make Thurs and Fri equally important. And Sat afternoon off would really be nice for people to go do other things. I think that a third place game would just be overkill.
