  1. A Not sure where to post story......

Visiting the Twin Cities this last weekend and while reading the Star Tribune and the St Paul Pioneer Press, found it interesting that there were a couple stories about UND Hockey and UND Womens Basketball in their papers....

I looked and looked for the other Div 1 institution from our state, no news? articles?....Where is the parity?

  2. Regis has good guards, but inside they will get brutalized by UND should the two teams meet. Plus, particularly with Jahner and Beck, UND has the defensive players to keep the Lopezes somewhat in check. I haven't been impressed with Regis at all in the past two regional tournaments. The thing about the RMAC teams is that they will not, under any circumstances, play the top NCC teams unless it's in the state of Colorado, or occasionally in a tournament on a neutral court. Once they get on NCC turf (which only happens in the regional), they really tend to struggle. The only legit non-conference opponent Regis played this year outside of the state of Colorado was CSU-Chico (the number 2 seed from the west region). Chico beat them by 25.

Agree somewhat, but I think this is a different Regis team...

    Common Oppents

Regis 66 vs USD 67 at Colo Christian...... UND Won by 2 in OT, 9 at Home, 23 Tourney

Regis 94 vs Mary 61 at Colo Christian...... UND won by 10

    Regis 67 vs Metro 72

Regis 76 vs Metro 62...... UND won by 3

    Regis 70 vs Metro 50

Regis 97 vs St Cloud 72...... UND loss by 5, won by 20

It appears that UND Scores were closer with Metro, Mary, St Cloud and only a 1 point to USD who we had two tough games and one breather in the Tourney (Best Player Out)...?

I do agree that the RMAC is not anywhere near the competition of the NCC, but Regis does look better, I taped the RMAC Championship game for the UND staff and the Lopez Twins were impressive.

They also however got handled by Emporia State 73-55 at Home.

  3. The UNO-USD game has been moved to 7 tonight. If UND wins today, they will be playing a very tired, very travel-weary team tomorrow in Grand Forks. I can't imagine playing a 7 p.m. game in Vermillion, and then travelling all the way to Grand Forks for a 3 p.m. game the next day.

Championship game on Sunday moved to 5pm...but point well taken

  4. It is over...Tough way to end

I really thought the Men's Team were going to make some noise in the NCC tourney.

They did not compete in the 2nd half and lost to Duluth 85-63.

There is always next year, with everyone returning it should be interesting.

  5. That is assuming that they would share the basketball, I have been impressed with the ball movement with Bledsoe at the point.

Visiting with Gary Holquist UMD Coach before the game he felt UND may be tougher to play against when they play more controlled BBall rather than creating offense like Youmans did...?

But I agree with you 92,96 the Sioux needed the depth and could have very well won both UMD and USD with more players availability...

  6. No hurry, I (we) appreciate your inside info!

Looks like Tovarious Jackson is still a potentially great player without a team...Really wants to play at the highest level possible, his H.S. Coach has said he is currently looking at Appalachain State...so we will see ......The Sioux still feel we have a great shot at him...

Also Check out the Name Paul Backowski...Huge O-Lineman (6'6" 290#) out of Foley Minnersota, that was recruited at Colorado for one year and wants to play closer to home, close friends with current Sioux Noah Dombrovski......I heard we have a good shot at him....OL men are always a welcome sight.

Other than that, I believe it will be UND's intention to red-shirt all of the incoming freshman, unless some key injuries dictate otherwise...

  7. Thanks Walrus for all the "inside" information. This year was a lot of fun to look for your posts to get the scoop.

    Thanks Again!!

My pleasure and thank you, can not wait for the Football Season to begin, Spring Ball in less than 2 months....

  8. Last I heard on Jackson....

He was hoping for a perferred walkon at Michigan State University, it was down to UND and MSU...?

Anybody's guess, I am sure we will find the funds if he decides to attend UND

  9. Hats off to the UND Coaching Staff, A great effort and I feel a great class of young men coming in, We got a lot of great speed at the corners.....Good size and athleticsm in our line recruits.....A group of hungry and aggresive linebackers.....and some very Talented Skill position players.

As in every year you do not always get what you want, but I feel we got more than we expected.....and as always the young men we get seem to do more than most because of their heart and desire, these are the young men we have always recruited and gotten at UND.

Once again congrats coaches and incoming players, nice job.

Now if only the higher ups? Would let Dale put together his own schedule, I'm looking forward to a great future for Sioux Football....GO SIOUX!!

Cody Rose / Update, has decided to attend the University of Wisconsin.....

  11. Per wisconsinpreps.com, UND has received a commitment from Cody Rose of Elmwood (WI). link. He's 6'4", 190 lbs. and Erik Lofdahl, who runs the site, calls him "one of the most highly-recruited athletes in the state." His father is an ex-NFL player.

    a possible decommitment....?
